No longer operating on Pauahi Street in Hilo, Hawai’i. The place is now called Liko Lehua Café. Are they the same owners of the Palms by the Bay?

You know what? This place seems to be kind of a place for«regulars». But ive only been there twice, and I was treated extremely well, excellent service, beautiful friendly female bartenders and servers, and huge servings of free pupu’s. The place is bigger than most Hilo bars of its type, and is fairly nice in décor. It’s a great place to have cocktails, and time flys by quick there because you are treated with such great service.

Fun karaōke spot, but our waitress was inattentive. The other waitress tried to pick up the slack which was nice of her. I like that they give house pupus, no one on the mainland does that! The pupus are ok.

What?! Nobody’s talked about the Palms? Okay, clearly Hilo is still catching on to Unilocal… much like Craigslist(just try finding a place to live on the Big Island page — I hope you like living in a mini-commune with burnt out trustafarians running away from home!). Hawaii-style karaōke must be experienced by anyone who truly loves the form. It will push your boundaries and force you to expand your skill, stamina and patience. Do you do karaōke for the stage? No stage, mon petit chou. You gotta sit in your booth(with high walls, so no one can see you) and sing your heart out while your friends all stare at you across the table. Do you hate country music? Well guess what — by the end of the night, you’re going to know the words to «Neon Moon» and you’re going to fucking like it!(I also learned there’s a song called«Cherish» that is not by Madonna. The more you know…) Do you love ahi sashimi? Then perhaps you have come to the right place — get there before eleven and you get all the pupus your hungry, hungry heart could dream of – ahi, various meats(never ate them, but I think there’s chicken, pork and meatballs), and of course everyone’s favorite: celery and mayonnaise! I have sung Bonnie Tyler, Ginuwine and Kylie Minogue all in one evening. I have kidnapped friends from their fiancé’s birthday parties and brought them to this place for Buttery Nipples and dancing in the aisles. I have found other friends passed out in the bushes by the Bank of Hawaii building next door and screamed at them because they made me miss my song while I was looking for them. But I have never, ever, had Bud Light with ice. YOUCOULDN’T BREAKME, HILO!
