After reading other reviews, we just had to try Bullies– who doesn’t love good ribs? This place did not disappoint! We ordered a full rack and Carolina slaw. Meaty, melt-in-your mouth good. We were sorry that we didn’t get a small order of brisket to sample as well. Maybe tomorrow? Yummy!!!

Staying at a Red Roof. Tired as hell from road trip. Don’t want to sit down and deal with a waitress. Don’t want to drive around. Go to this place next door. Looks unexceptional. Had a brisket sandwich. Went small because I’ve had a lot of bad bbq. Wish I went big. Thin surgical slicing. Good flavor. Pulled apart with no effort. OK bark and ring. Generous portion. Sauces were all good. Brisket even stood up to the hottest sauce. Sometimes you just get lucky. Not sure if HH has any other bbq joints. Doesn’t really need it. I’d sample more tomorrow if they weren’t closed on Sn til March. And to the guy who wanted more fat. Did you ask? Do you know what part of the brisket is fatty and which part is lean? It’s called the point or deckle. Lean is the flat. I find that they usually are happy to give you the fatty part because only gourmands prefer it.

Best ribs I’ve ever had and I don’t say that lightly. These are moist, fall off the bone St Louis style ribs. The rub is so good you don’t really need sauce but I did dip the occasional bite into the yellow Carolina style sauce. So good. The sides were also tasty-moist corn bread, Mac n cheese ok, collards good but a tad salty, fries and cole slaw good. But the ribs stole the show. I could go back tomorrow. Just might!

I feel like I’m being a little generous giving 4 stars. The food was very decent but not outstanding. My main complaint was the BBQ sauce options. I hate to say it but out of approx 6 or 7 different BBQ sauces, I didn’t like any of them. I know that BBQ sauces are an obvious matter of personal preference but I rarely have 6 options and don’t like any. The Mac n cheese was again decent but not great(I prefer mine baked as opposed to soupy). Similar feelings about the fries. Not crispy enough, Just average. And just so you don’t think I’m just hard to please, I just ate at a different BBQ restaurant in Sarasota FL today that was nearly perfect on all counts. I don’t usually leave a review without trying out a business more than once, but since I live over 300 miles away, I might not get back and when I am back in Hilton Head, there are SO many great choices that it’s likely that I will try someplace else.

The real deal. It’s my first visit to Hilton Head and I looked forward to getting some good bbq on the drive down from Boston. Well, I got none on the drive down, but then I found Bullies by sheer chance when I got here. Great. Hands down. The best. Had the brisket sandwich. Delicious. Had the Carolina slaw. Excellent. Everything we ordered was great. Tremendous sauces. Bought two today to take home — Texas sweet and Carolina Mustard. Going back for lunch again tomorrow and bringing friends. Maybe the next day, too. I’ll miss Bullies when my vacation is over. The real deal.

Wow for bbq this place was awesome. We got the family dinner which had ribs, brisket, pulled pork, mac and cheese and coleslaw. Everything was incredibly tasty. The meat was tender and smoky. Sauce selection was good. We had take out and food was hot. Nothing I like better than good barbeque! Sides were good too. Mac and cheese had bacon in it.

Great BBQ! We ordered 2 large 8 – 10 packs. We easily fed 20 people and had yummy leftovers the next day. The service is good. If you eat in, the people picnic tables are pleasant. Definitely a do over for some of our more picky eaters!

Excellent BBQ. Perfect quick dinner when we first got into town. The brisket was thinly sliced and delicious as was the pulled chicken. The Mac and cheese was very good. Worth a visit!

Great brisket and great service. Very casual. Prices are reasonable. Parking is a bit crowed, as it’s attached to a gas station.

I was in the area for work, and came in on a Tuesday to continue my BBQ adventure across the southeast. The pulled pork was on special for $ 8.99/lb. This could get dangerous as I want to try as much of the menu as I can. I decide to start with the brisket sandwich without the bun which is, obviously, just brisket. It is thinly sliced with nice smoke rings, but it could have used a bit more fat. Personally I love thick fatty cuts of brisket, but for thinly sliced brisket it was top shelf. I took a half slab of ribs and a pound of pulled pork back to hotel room, intending to save it for next day. Unfortunately, that did not happen and when I got to the room I immediately devoured the ribs. The rub was delicious and the they were cooked perfectly. I enjoyed every bite. To finish my meal out I spent the next few hours working on that pound of pulled pork. It was sweet and fatty and delicious and did just fine without any sauce. Every couple bites I would use some of the mustard based sauce or some of the rosemary based sauce but those were the only two I liked. Overall I ate way too much BBQ but I do not regret a moment of it.

We stopped in for Brunswick stew and ended up also taking home a pound of insanely good pulled pork. The flavor. Oh my goodness. Corn bread is the way it should be and the collards are the best I have ever eaten. They have great daily specials and six great sauces. So tomorrow is rack of rib day…

–One of the best sauce selections I’ve ever encountered in bbq. There are spicy, sweet, mustard, earthy sweet and vinegary options and one of them is sure to please your palate! –My pulled chicken was perfectly moist and the boyfriend really enjoyed the pulled pork. The sandwiches were a good value for lunch, but the plates and dinner combos were a bit pricier than comparable bbq joints in NC. I guess that’s the HHI markup. –Superior bbq that I would highly recommend, but not mindblowingly good –I would recommend trying the cornbread to see if you’d like it. It is super cornlike but not spicy at all and very textured, makes for a nice change from the usual sweet stuff.

We were in town for a family vacation and heard from the locals to check this out. We enjoyed the selection of BBQ sauces and the reasonably price family dinners. There were 4 of us, and we ordered family dinner for 4−6…it was a lot of food and plenty of leftovers. The pulled chicken and brisket was delicious and the ribs were pretty okay too. The menu on Unilocal says there is wine but there is not. But the hard apple cider is great. Definitely recommend for good BBQ in town and good gluten free options.

First, the bar-b-que is really good; I had the pulled pork and loved it. The sides were so-so — even the mac and cheese was only okay. The other three in our party were disappointed: their food was cold, and they were out of brisket. The atmosphere leaves a LOT to be desired. Of course, it is attached to a gas station so you’ve got to make some allowances, but it’s very crowded, not well-organized, and just generally not a great place to eat. I recommend going earlier in the evening — we were apparently there just before closing — and getting it to go.

Not great. Good. Not worthy of 3 – 4 stars. Waaaay over priced. Just looking to set people straight. I’d feel happy at a third of the price.

Jalapeño cornbread, gooey mac-n-cheese, pork & chicken bbq. These are just few of the yummy items we ordered at Bullies. It’s a popular spot and for good reason. It is very good. I called in a to-go order for the family. I didn’t really have a good idea of what the sizes would be as to-go is done by the pound. A pound is what I consider a medium sized to-go tub. Keep that in mind when you order. When I saw the half-pounds I had requested I had to order some more. But it was quick to get the extra servings and in the end we had enough and everyone loved it.

Ok. So it’s a hole in the wall in a gas station. Don’t let that stop you. We normally go out to dinner for our first night on the island. The Stars didn’t align this time. So I suggested take out by the pool. We’d seen this place before but never eaten then because of its appearance. That was dumb on our part. We got two half slab dinners that include slaw, jalapeño cheddar cornbread, and fries. Pulled pork and pulled chicken sandwiches. Mac and cheese for the kids. Food was ready quickly. The only line was picking it up. That’s a good sign. The pork doesn’t even need sauce it’s that good. We cleared every single plate. The guys said the ribs were great as well. It got our highest vacation praise: that we’ll go back for lunch during the week. This might be our new first night on the island dinner.

I would have give 5 stars but service was awful! I had traveled a long drive from Michigan and this place was right next to hotel I stayed in. Tired and hungry called for a take out order. Waited 15 minutes to go get as advised by the girl who took order. I ordered the combination dinner for two. I walked over they were busy… well the girl forgot to put my order in I was not happy… she then rushed to get order and did pretty quickly but put it in a brown to small paper bag, as I was walking away the bag bust open and splat all over the floor… Ohhhh dear well they had to remake it and went as fast as they could but my experience left me a little aggravated, however the food was wonderful. The brisquitt best I ever had pulled pork and chicken tasty and the ribs succulent. The meal also came with mac and cheese, baked beans and cornbread. It was good I suppose staff was just having a bad night. It happens to us all I suppose. I would recommend if on the island to give it a shot.

I recently returned from vacation in Hilton Head, and while I was down in the Carolinas, I knew I had to get some BBQ. What turned out to be a craving for BBQ meal ended up being a week long craving after trying Bullies BBQ. My friend we were visiting recommended the place, and it turned out to be some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had. It’s a small joint with only about ten tables located a little ways back from the main strip. It turns out the owner’s actually from Medina, OH, so who says Ohio can’t do BBQ? I went with the ribs and baked potato salad, while my girlfriend had a pulled pork sandwich and the mac-n-cheese. They offer a variety of BBQ sauces from classic Carolina vinegar and mustard to more tomato-y based sauces. The ribs come with a dry rub, and don’t need anything extra at all. These were the best ribs I’ve ever had, and the girlfriend agreed after trying them. The dry rub was so good that I ended up buying a jar of it before I even finished my food. On top of that, the baked potato salad turned out to be the best potato salad I’ve had as well. I’m trying not to exaggerate here, but it’s just that good. I don’t know how they do it, and I don’t care, just order it. My girlfriend really loved the pulled pork and the vinegar and mustard sauces(combining them). I only ordered a half rack of ribs, and they were plenty, but I wish I ordered about four more full racks to go and eat them the entire time. I know Hilton Head has a lot of vacationers coming down from Ohio, so you really need to check this place out! I promise if you’re a BBQ lover(and who isn’t), you will not be disappointed.
