This is the restaurant that you won’t forget. Service was spot on. Wait staff was friendly with a working knowledge of each dish. Food was out of this world.

We went with friends to Le Bistro on a Monday night. They have an extensive menu and they offer their early bird menu pricing all night on Mondays. Our waiter Tony treated us like family. The wine and water glasses were always full, and the food was great. Their dessert crepes top off a fantastic evening. There is a reason this is a favorite of the locals for over 26 years. More visitors to Hilton Head should experience their great good and service.

From Chicago in search of the perfect seafood chowder. After several attempts I was ready to head back to Chicago disappointed that we had the best in Chicago, until we came here! The best on the island! We had tapas, the portions were substantial and all good!

After months of thinking about dining at Le Bistro Mediterranean we finally visited last Friday. Our meals were excellent. the Sea Bass and Ducks Roast were well prepared. We will return for the food. The service was another story. after being seated and handed menus we waited and waited for for our server to take our drink order. She finally blew by and quickly took our order. After a another long wait she returned and was very eager to leave as quickly as possible. It was not as if she was swamped with tables. There was one table of eight that she was serving. She seemed to stand and talk with the other table as we sat with empty glasses and plates. This was the theme of the evening. We were ignored and spent time waiting for our server. We did not order a bottle of wine and instead went with single glasses. the server did bring bottle our wine from a central location and poor at the table. After my second glass there was a small amount left in the bottle. As she was walking away she tipped the bottle and finished it before reaching the trash bin.

The bad reviews for this restaurant do not shock me. We ordered several dishes that were a disappointment. The spanakopita was poorly made(yes, I’m Greek) and the greek salad did not have any olives! We also ordered the butternut squash ravioli(tapas) and we were surprised to only receive two raviolis for the price. And when I mentioned to the owner that the order for the raviolis was pretty small, he just ignored me and walked away. So strange! However, if you plan on heading over there, the tomato and avocado salad was pretty good.

I am shocked to see poor reviews of this restaurant. My wife and I loved our meal and found the staff to be very friendly. We have friends that love this place as well. We did not try the wine, but the food was spectacular. The dishes were very well prepared with fresh ingredients. Do not let the bad reviews steer you away from this wonderful place.

Amazed at the reviews by Drake and Roy. I have eaten here a number of times and it is superb. Quality food, quality service and a nice, café atmosphere. The mussels are great as is the calamari and the coquille St. Jacques and the fish dishes are particularly good. Yes, Roy, there are wine bottles«all over the place.» That’s because Le Bistro has an especially large and diverse wine list and the wine stock is used for decoration. Hardly messy, just enjoyable to view. I’ll be back.

First impressions count! Our reunion group(6) came down to HH for a weeks stay. We were told to try the LeBistro Mediterranean so I made a resv for the next night. Unfortunately one of our group became ill. We then thought we’d change our resv for a day later. I called an hour prior to our resv. time and said to the gentleman who answered…” I’m sorry but I had a resv. for 6 people at 6pm and I will have to cancel.” Before I had a chance to rebook he said, «oh that’s too bad«, and hung up! Needless to say… we are going elsewhere.

My spouse and I decided to come here based upon the online menu of food and wine list. Unfortunately, the wine list is not the same in the restaurant nor do they offer all the items on the menu. We tried 2 samples of red wines by the glass and both tasted sour. We then ordered a half bottle of malbec hoping it would be better since not already opened. It was ok but far too warm as they keep their wine bottles out in the open restaurant on standing shelves and the restaurant was quite warm, certainly not cellar temperature. The food was variable. Spouse had a crab and avocado cold salad which was very good with fresh nice lump crab but the dressing was very thick like 1000 Island dressing. Chicken liver pâté was okay without much flavor; served with thin toast slices which were so thin they crumbled when trying to spread the pâté. The Greek salad served with the entrees was very good with a flavorful vinaigrette. Entrees were(1) veal piccata which came in a sauce which tasted like a cross between piccata and marsala(some lemon taste but also sweet and some capers). The meat was overdone and dry. (2) tagine lamb curry with couscous which was billed as spicy but tasted quite bland. It was a small portion with about 8 cubes of lamb several of which had gristle and fat. I have cooked better lamb in my Crockpot. It was definitely overpriced for the portion size. Our server was friendly and fairly attentive though she did not seem to know much if anything about wine. Overall, we would not return and don’t recommend this restaurant.

WOW! was I expecting more! I went into this place expecting great food, what I got was not bad, but, REALLYBAD! a friend and I went in for lunch, the menu looked more like a late fall, early winter menu. With the likes of leg of lamb with root vegetables and braised lamb shank with mashed potatoes. My friend ordered the Greek Salad with grilled chicken, I ordered tried the lamb shank. Both dishes were completely bad. The service is terrible, there were only 2 tables there at a little after 1 pm. But, we still waited almost 5 mins. Just to be seated. Then the waitress we had took about 10 mins to get to the table with menus. There were what seemed to be a manager and owner in the other room just sitting with drinks and they were just chatting, but they never made an appearance! Even though the one waitress seemed to be slammed. Albeit with only 3 tables. After we ordered, we sat and waited almost 20 minutes for our food. So we started to talk about the décor, it looks like something out of the 70’s totally outdated, very dirty/cluttered bottle upon bottle of wine strewn about, this place looked like it could close for a month, and still need to be cleaned. When we got our food, well, let me say this… I will not ever return. It was as bad as the décor and totally overpriced. My question is… If the owner and manager are there just shooting the bull, why should the wait staff care? This place is a mess!

We just went there with a party of 11. One of the BEST foods we have had. Highly recommend it … Appetizers and dinner was truly fantastic.

Met some local Hilton Head residents on the golf course today and they recommended Le Bistro as one of their favorite local spots. We had a very nice dinner. My wife had a fabulous shrimp, scallop, tortellini dish. I had the trigger fish special in a mild horseradish sauce. Both meals are worth coming back for on our next visit. The open kitchen atmosphere was very cozy and the owner made sure he visited all of the tables. This restaurant has the right feel for what it is trying to accomplish.

The Bistro is overpriced and the food was not good. My girlfriend and I ate dinner here and we thought this place belonged on Chef Ramsey’s Kitchen Disasters television show. The manager is sitting just inside the restaurant with a laptop computer and what looks like all of his invoices laying all around him. This place is seriously overcrowed in the kitchen area and there are wine bottles all over the place, The open kitchen did not give us that warm fuzzy feeling that the open kitchen is suppose to give. The food was all ‘greasy’ with too much oil or butter being used. The wait staff and the owner didn’t have a clue, but I’m afraid this is the type of place that is tried once and no one ever returns. We both had stomachaches shortly after departing the restaurant.
