I have done business at the Hingham location a few times. Clean, well merchandised and great selection.
Purchased diamond studs at this location a few years ago– recently lost one of the backings and made a 45 min ride to Hingham to get a new one (have lost one before and had it replaced with no problem.) Perhaps the rain was dampening their moods the day I came in– the front desk sales person was completely «put out» that I needed to purchase a new backing. She abruptly told me that my earrings were discontinued and the backing was no longer available. She was happy to offer me the $ 100 option of sending my earrings out to have the posts changed.
I took my studs to my local jeweler (Forest Beach Designs in Chatham, MA) and they found a backing for me within 24 hours for $ 65.
This will be the last time I do any business with a bigger «box» jeweler. My time and hard earned dollars are more appreciated by the mom & pop shops.
PS: while getting my $ 65 backing at Forest Beach Designs in Chatham I spent an extra $ 2k on an anniversary band. Retailers need to respect every customer no matter how small the service– it always leads to future business.

This is a place that we will go back to again and again. We worked with Brett and he made us feel like we were his only clients throughout the entire process. He made it clear that every decision was up to us and never went over our budget.
We started by getting my engagement ring there and will follow with wedding band and maybe an anniversary gift someday :) Excellent experience!

My fiancé and I had a great experience at Descenza with both Cristin and Brett. We had been shopping for an engagement ring and had it narrowed down to one at Descenza and one at another jeweler in Hingham. We felt like we got a much better value and much better service at Descenza. They stayed within our budget and my ring is beyond gorgeous.

My family has used Descenza several times in the past with good results. One person brought their solitaire there to be reset and although it was somewhat pricey, the work was done well. However, I just took a family diamond there to be reset. The price they quoted us was absolutely beyond outrageous. Although they claimed it was due to the price of gold, a quick search online revealed that I could simply replace the part that needed repair for ¹⁄₃ to ½ the price they quoted. Not worth it.

I went in shopping for engagement rings, the store was a bit busy with all of the sales people occupied, but I literally stood around for a good half hour before anyone acknowledged my presence. A simple «we’ll be with you shortly» would have gone a long way. When I finally did speak with someone, Brett, I think was his name, I showed him what I wanted which was a print out from their website. He went to check the stock on it and then I heard him calling other Descenza stores trying to find it, yet he referred to me as a «kid»…I found that impolite, I’m 28 and about to spend thousands of dollars in your store… Anyway, Brett told me every other Descenza store had what I was looking for and I was on my way. I immediately drove to the Boston location and the level of service was night and day — Amanda in Boston was extremely helpful and nice and I got exactly what I was looking for. I would definitely not return to the Hingham location.
