Back from a short Unilocal hiatus… This WS is not bad and can be characterized as standard. Most of the staff is helpful without being too intrusive. When purchasing items, I’ve found them to be fine with gift wrapping. They have a few decent sale items. The store itself isn’t spacious(smaller than Copley Place, Dedham, or Natick) but has enough space to have all the things a typical WS would have. Since the one at South Shore Plaza has been long gone, it’s pretty much here or Dedham for WS in the South Shore area.

I found the staff to be overly solicitous and rather aggressive in trying to «help» me. It’s a small store, I most likely would have found what I was looking for, if I felt like I was welcome to browse. At least 3 salespeople approached me in less than 5 minutes. Give customers some space, and they might actually buy something. I left with nothing and they were still talking to me as I walked out the door.

So the douche down below had an individual poor experience. Doesn’t mean this WS deserves an overall one star rating. The store is spacious and the typical WS, everything gadget and resource you need to cook and bake. Although I find WS generally overpriced for their books, pots, and pans, it’s worth the money for their condiments, mixes, sauces, extracts… all that fun stuff you eat.

You may be asking how can Williams-Sonoma receive a one-star rating? Well, I can’t give it a no-star rating because it is not an option. If it was, I would give it a ZERO. I actually really like Williams-Sonoma and enjoy shopping at their stores, except this one. During a recent visit, I found the staff to be unfriendly and exceptionally snobby. Not one employee offered anything resembling customer service.(OK, the woman near the door did say«hi» to me when I walked in but that was it. Now that I think about it, maybe she wasn’t even an employee.) While I waited for my husband to shop, I could not help but notice the woman, behind the counter, who could not make it more obvious that she was not having a good time and therefore, should take it out on the customers. I also couldn’t help noticing her giving me annoyed looks as I stood by the counter. Finally, she was nice enough to apathetically«warn» me that the espresso machines were turned on so my daughter, who was sitting on one of the stools, should not touch the machines b/c she may get burned. She also was kind enough to point out the hot spots in case my daughter decided to leap over the machinery and jam her hands in between the machines to touch a spot that was emitting heat. The people that were working the registers were not any better. For cripes sake… they are taking your money and they still are snobby. Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic. WS’ corporate offices should be ashamed of this store’s representation. Avoid this particular store at all costs, if you can.
