Very pleased with my new Liv Alight bicycle, and the terrific service I received from Hartley’s. After walking through the bike dept of a big box store, I knew I needed service, advice, and assistance, and I’m so glad I came here. Kenneth gave me very helpful help and I even got to take two different models on a test ride. They have a good selection of bikes, helmets, saddles, accessories and wonderful service!

Had a great experience shopping for and then buying a new road bike from Ken Hartley. After thoroughly discussing my type of riding and testing many bikes, I decided on a Bianchi Infinito. Upon pick up I was very carefully fitted by Ari and his assistants. After all the adjustments were made I was able to do over 100 miles in the 1st week, topped off with a nice 57 mile ride. Have been riding to get ready for my 1st Century Ride in October. Very pleased with the service and quality of my shopping trip to Hartley’s Cycle!

brought my bike in for a minor repair and tune up, was told it would be a week and a half… two weeks pass, and i haven’t heard from them. Call them up and the girl on the phone tells me it will be another two weeks… promptly picked up my bike and went elsewhere. The competitor had my bike fixed and tuned up in 3 days. i emailed the management at Hartley’s and told them i was disappointed with their service, and no response, not even an apology for the inconvenience. So even though it’s 2 blocks from work, i won’t be stoping there even to buy a water bottle.

I’ve been going to Hartley’s for several years. I usually just buy some accessories or maintenance items and browse the floor and drool over the new Cannondales. I stopped in last week to look for a new stem and bars for my 18 year old Cannondale when I ran across the new 29ers. Talked to Ken the owner for a bit, he is always a pleasure to talk to. He told me the pros and cons of the 29ers and we talked about my upgrades and weather or not it was worth it. I took a few days to think it over. Went back to ride the 29er to see if it was that much better. Holy crap yes! I put that sucker on layaway. Chris took great care of me, he was a riot! I can’t wait to pick my new Cannondale up! I always believe in spending my money with people that take good care of me because they want to not because they have to. Hartley’s does just that!

Had a great shopping experience today at Hartley’s. The store combines good old-fashioned customer service and knowledge with a great variety of bikes and accessories. As soon as I came in the door, I was greeted and asked about my «biking needs». I had originally gone to the store in La Grange but had been disappointed in the selection of bikes available. The store owner there recommended Hartley’s — and I’m glad I went. Mason made sure that he understood what I wanted and was very helpful in showing me the bikes that were appropriate for my experience level and height. He even made sure that I took a ride around the block(with a helmet) to make sure I was happy with the bike. Nothing was overlooked — including the bike seat. Everyone in the shop was very attentive and no one tried to upsell — which is very refreshing. I expressed an interest in getting a Nutcase helmet and even though they did not carry the brand, they were more than willing to order whatever I wanted. The store carries a nice range of baskets and bells and all the other stuff you need to pimp your ride. It’s nice to know too, that they have a free 30 day(of riding) adjustment tune-up for the bike. I highly recommend this store!

My experience with this shop is pretty limited, but I rolled in one day when I didn’t have time to go all they way up to my regular shop. I wanted to see if I could get an adjustment done while I waited. They were helpful, I’d go back for sure.

Terrible, inexcusable experience with customer service. I called to confirm I wanted work done on an older bike. In the background, one of their workers yelled, «*&** — «That piece of crap? Put ‘em on hold!» Having heard that, I said I’d be in to get the bike. When I told the owner what happened, I received an apology, but that was it. You’d think after being treated so badly that the shop would want to make it right — do the repairs at a discount, or even for free. Nothing. Nada. They obviously don’t need the business. I’ll never set foot in there again.

Family owned and operated for years and years and years. My dad actually worked at this bike shop in the 60s when he lived in Hinsdale. Isn’t that insane?! We’ve always purchased bikes from this shop and we have never, ever had an issue. The small shop carries a variety of brands that are hand chosen by the owner. Every single person in the shop knows everything about all of the bikes that they sell so you can ask anyone questions. They are more than willing to help you chose the bike that is the right fit for you. They will also special order something if you can’t find it in the store. This is one of the most honest businesses I have ever patronized in my life. The staff are not out to sell you something that you don’t need because it is expensive, they are willing to work with everyone working with every type of budget. The family ownership is always comforting, as well, because they have a real commitment to making customers happy.

Every town needs a shop like this. Hartley’s has been in business since 1958 and their professionalism and knowledge shows from the moment you walk in the door. Looking for a new bike? They stock many brands and do the due diligence in spending time with you on how you are planning to use the bike before even suggesting something to you. Need a bike overhaul or a simple repair? Enter the back of the store and any one of several skilled employees will listen to your problem and recommend a solution within minutes. The services are done on time and for a fair price. Need accessories? From padded bike shorts to jerseys or just a bike lock– again they have a wide selection. Family run and operated– this place makes you feel that you live in a small town with small town service and friendliness. And for this avid bike rider– that is most appreciated.
