Stopped by for brunch recently and found it closed with workers inside. One of them said the restaurant will be re-opening in a different location due to landlord issues. The new location is supposedly near Route 83&75th Street.

Very exciting and creative menu. Awesome presentation. Same owners as Eggstasy in Oak Brook. Definitely the best breakfast in Hinsdale. Parking is a bit of a challenge, but where isn’t it bad in Hinsdale? Try the Soho salad.

If I could give New Yolk New Yolk a negative star I would, that’s how bad my experience was! I have eaten at Eggstasy in Oak Brook Terrace before and it was fantastic therefore I figured New Yolk New Yolk would be as well, I soon realized I was wrong. My sister and I arrived to find out it was terribly busy… what else is new. The woman took my name and since there was nowhere to sit inside we, like many others, hung out directly outside the door. 20 minutes went by and we were still not seated, another 10 minutes went by and still nothing. When I went inside to see what was going on I notice there were a hand full of 2-seater tables available and to the woman’s surprise we were still waiting for our table! She sat us at the end of the bar where all the activity was, I even almost got hit in the head with one of the cocky waiters trays and they constantly placed the large coffee pitchers directly in front of me like I was not even sitting there. After requesting a new spot at the bar one of the waitresses asked for my silverware bundle because she needed it and that I should not worry the bartender would get me another. After replying«are you serious?!» my sister and I got up and left. We were both completely disappointed and the people that work there have little to no respect for their customers. Not once did the woman at the front desk walk outside to see if we or anyone else were outside waiting for a table and quite frankly who wants to eat over priced food in a place that is so loud that you leave with ringing in your ears! Hated it never going back!

Pretty disappointing experience here the other day. I was excited to try this place out, as I really like their sister restaurant, Eggstacy. There were a lot of similarities in the menus, both equally overwhelming. It took me flipping through the menu about 16 times before I decided. We were happy to learn that we could split a half order of their specialty pancakes, so that would satisfy my sweet tooth– I was dying to try the pumpkin cheesecake pancakes! I decided on the sun dried tomato, goat cheese, and pine nut omelette. I asked for egg whites only. I think the funniest part of this meal was when my friend got her latte and it was borderline cold. When she asked for a new one, she was informed that they were out of espresso. Really? Out of espresso on a Sunday morning? Also, there was a huge menu on the wall with different smoothies and juices– after our server saw us drooling at it, she informed us that we wouldn’t be able to order any of those. Ooookaaayyy… Our food arrived, and my omelette was wrong– had the whole egg and not just the whites. I must have looked at it funny, because the server said, «Oh, you were supposed to have a frittata, they messed up». I corrected her and she said they would re-make it. In the meantime, I had the pumpkin pancake to devour– this was good stuff. It had a nice dense texture, very good pumpkin flavor, and the cheesecake icing wasn’t too sweet. I would have eaten the whole thing if I didn’t have to share! My replacement omelette arrived shortly, and it was pretty gross looking. Why gross, you ask? well, it was burnt. It looked burnt and it tasted burnt. Also, it had basically no seasoning whatsoever. I’d be overestimating if I said that I ate a quarter of it. You can tell that they just tried to cook it super fast on high heat just to get it out to me. Another funny moment– my toast was served in a bowl. The toast was bigger than the bowl, causing the slices to precariously teeter off the edge of the bowl — just weird. There were a couple promising menu items, and my friend enjoyed her omelette– but I’m not sure that I’d give this place another chance. The waitstaff was too distracted, no one knew what was going on, and I’m still pretty peeved that I wasted $ 10 on a crappy omelette.

I’m giving New Yolk New Yolk two stars. I had high hopes of this place, but alas, it fell flat on my expectations. I bEGG to differ on their lackluster service and overall experience. My friend and I are HUGE brunch fans, and opted for New Yolk New Yolk on our latest brunch excursion. The place is literally a hidden gem in Hinsdale– located down walkway/alley off the main street. We arrived on a Sunday around 11:30 am, and was greeted by a mass of hungry brunchers eagerly waiting for a table. We were greeted immediately and told it would be about a 20 minute wait. While we waited we started to peruse the menu. Holy frijoles… it was completely overwhelming! From the amazing omelets, frittatas, crepes and French toast concoctions there was so much to choose from… like 6 pages worth to be exact! My friend and I were led to our table after a short 15 minute wait amongst the bustling dining room. I also noticed there a small separate room off to the side for a bridal shower brunch. The place was packed! After a short wait, we were finally acknowledged by our server. I was told the expansive juice and smoothie menu on the wall was not available. I opted for a vanilla latte while my friend ordered an iced tea. My friend received her drink, and I received a tepid mug containing said latte. I asked for it to be remade, but apparently they had run out of espresso. Lovely. Instead of my anticipated luxurious hot and frothy latte, I ordered the coffee which was just your run of the mill breakfast diner coffee. We then ordered our entrees. We were excited that any of the specialty pancakes could be ordered as a half order. This was music to our ears considering we couldn’t decide on what we wanted. That was half the battle! I eventually settled on an asparagus, almond and gruyère cheese topped with balsamic vinaigrette reduction. The omelets were served with your choice of a fresh fruit skewer or hashed browns and toast or pancakes. The half order of pancakes could not be used towards the side that comes along with your omelet. That was discussed and confusing to us. I opted for the hashed browns which were more like a sliced and pan fried potato and the pancakes, which were wrapped to-go for my boyfriend. My friend ordered the goat cheese, pine nut and red pepper omelet(egg whites only) along with the hashed browns and sourdough toast. We were lil piggies and had our sights set on the pumpkin cream cheese pancakes, a half order to share.(Hence why I wrapped up the plain flapjacks for my man). When the food arrived we were in complete shock at the amount of food. My friends omelet arrived incorrect. They used the whole egg rather than just egg whites. So it was sent back to the kitchen. We also chuckled at their presentation of her sourdough toast. It arrived at our table in a BOWL. Really? It was teetering and almost fell out. I think their imagination with presentation got a little carried away. A small plate will do just fine for toast. We started to eat our meals and when it arrived back it was crispy on the outside and almost runny on the inside– looks like someone in the kitchen doesn’t know how to control their flame. It was a rush job and she said it tasted like it as well. She picked around it but was thankful for our pancake order. My omelet was delicious and decadent. The pumpkin pancakes were dense, sweet and smothered in cream cheese«syrup.» It was quite a treat. The service staff seemed flustered; the place was in complete disarray. Between them not having espresso to our food coming out wrong and the space was just loud, you’re probably asking will I ever go back to New Yolk New Yolk? Probably. I believe every place deserves a second chance. Plus, their menu is too expansive to dismiss already. I am hoping to chalk up this visit to the private party/shower. I imagine the service and kitchen staff was overwhelmed. Plus, I want to get my little hands on the chocolate covered bacon. Oh yeah!

Just spotted this place tucked away off an alley in downtown Hinsdale. Very bright, airy interior with nice furnishings. The place was very lightly populated when we went for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Were seated quickly, and offered a high chair for little ones. Had to ask for crayons and coloring stuff though. Service was a tepid okay. It wasn’t slammed, but also wasn’t present a lot. Still our server was nice enough. The OJ was amazing, coffee was decent. My wife seemed to like her french toast. The two kids got mickey mouse pancakes that were very cutely done with fruit eyes nose and mouths. They seemed to like them though the pancakes to me seemed a bit dense. My avocado benedict was a complete disappointment. I always order benedicts, because they’re my favorite. This one however was hands down the worst I’ve ever had because of the horrible hollandaise. Corn starch tasting, overly thick — had none of the goodness of fresh made hollandaise. I’ll never make that mistake here again. Still, the menu was extensive. We’ll give it another tr because it’s so close but I’ll stay the heck away from the bennies.

New Yolk New Yolk is a hidden gem, literally and figuratively. My eggs-perience here merits another visit for sure, I love its urban ambience. The service was very fast, and our server was attentive and sincere. This being our visit was mid-morning mid-week, and the very large space seemed downright cavernous. My apple/brie egg-white omelet was intriguing and delightful. Coffee was good and strong. And, they have sugar-free pancake syrup! Always a plus.

I was really excited to find a new local breakfast spot, but am not quite sure that I’ll be adding it to my list of favorites just yet. As expected for a Sunday morning, the place was packed, but it’s also pretty large, so our wait was about 25 minutes, which gave us a bit of time to examine the décor and the sample plates of food displayed up front. This is definitely not your grandma’s breakfast joint — not a fake plant or strip of wallpaper in sight! Once seated, we were all overwhelmed with the menu! Seriously, all of the standards were there plus other combos that I’d never heard of before. Since it was our first time we tried both an egg dish and something sweeter. My omelet was okay, but not something that I’d order again. The carrot cake french toast was delicious, but I’m not really sure how it was french toast… it mostly just tasted like straight carrot cake… good carrot cake… but definitely not french toast. My husband ordered a smoothie, which he really liked, but kind of felt the way that I did about his omelet and neither of us liked his french toast(I think it was red velvet or something like that). The bill came and honestly, I can see the appeal of this place, but it really just isn’t for me. The portions are really big, but the prices match, which would have been completely fine, except that we didn’t really enjoy most of the food. I’d be willing to give it a try to lunch if I was ever in the area and again for breakfast if I ever woke up and had a «I’m craving dessert for breakfast» feeling. But for the rest of the days where I am hungry for regular old breakfast for breakfast, I’ll be heading back to my old standbys.

I like this place, but I think its too big of a space. Parking sucks because its in the downtown area of Hinsdale and the its a shared parking lot which gets packed. The concept and idea is cute and the menu looks great, but the times I’ve come, I felt it was way too much food, pricing was so so and the food was not consistent. When they first opened up, it was excellent, but the last couple times I’ve gone, service was VERY slow, I waited about 50 minutes for two kids grilled cheeses, a salad and a turkey sandwich… Although the manager was nice and comped one of our meals and gave us a gift card. I prefer to go here if I have a friend from out of town and I want a cuter ambiance.

This place is very cute inside, they have comical little egg pictures on the walls and ceiling. This place use to be a theater but was renovated into a restaurant. It is sort of hard to find if your not familiar with the area, it is in an ally way located centrally. If your looking for comfort, you can sit at a table that has couches as seats. I’m not a fan of the style of omelets they make, they are baked or possibly fried. I am a fan of their steak they have. I usually don’t order what’s on the menu but I do get a steak salad with mixed greens, chopped walnuts, goat cheese, fresh pear slices, grapes, and sometimes died cranberries. It is very delicious and come with a slice of raisin walnut bread, which I asked the delightful server, Andy, to toast for me which tasted more amazing hot. I brought my aunt here for her birthday and they brought out a dish of pumpkin cheese cake pancakes and sang happy birthday. Everyone that came really liked their food. There menu is very large but delicious. Another lady in my group got the red velvet pancakes, which were made with Nutella. She loved them but chocolate isn’t my thing. The thing you must absolutely try here is their orange juice, it is so heavenly. I asked the server and he said that they fresh squeeze it every morning. It is pricey, but so worth it. Everyone at the table had some.

So this place looked pretty cool inside and was pretty crowded(I was there Sunday post-church), so I was expecting a halfway decent experience. They have some of their dishes on display at the host’s desk at the front, including chocolate bacon which seemed a bit bizarre, but then again I haven’t tasted bacon since I was ten years old. The menu is also huge! Our server was friendly enough and I started by ordering a tropical something-or-other smoothie, which he recommended. It definitely tasted way too watery and not fruity enough at all. I drank it down anyway, and then got really, really cold, even though I was wearing a cardigan. For my meal, I told the server that I was intolerant to eggs and dairy(aka vegan) and asked what I could eat on the menu. He didn’t really seem to be able to think of anything, then sort of hesitantly recommended the vegetarian wrap so I went ahead and ordered it(without the feta). During the wait for the food, my dad(a builder) started talking about how the place could really use some sound-absorbing materials. He was right, it was pretty loud inside. After a bit too long, the server first brought out my wrap with the feta. I’m pretty sure I was very clear about not eating dairy. I pointed out that it had cheese in it and he took it back. My mom ordered the quinoa deal(probably why our meals took a little longer) and my dad got eggs Benedict. I munched on some of my dad’s hash browns and my mom’s fruit while I waited. Those were pretty good. I tried some of my mom’s quinoa, too, which she liked, it was more on the uncooked, crunchier side than the oatmeal-like consistency that I’m used to it being, but she said she preferred that. It was also doused in honey. Much too sweet for my tastes, but again, my mom liked it. My dad said his eggs Benedict was mediocre. Finally, my wrap came out and I was ready to chow down. The server said he had the whole thing remade for me so that I didn’t have any cheese in it, which I was grateful for. However, it was full of really cold potatoes. Like, it was 85% potato. Cold potato. It had some lettuce inside as well as WARM hummus. I do not understand. If anything, it should be reversed, right? Cold hummus and warm potatoes? I didn’t get it at all. Besides the lettuce and potatoes, I’m pretty sure there were no other veggies in there, so I was basically eating cold potatoes wrapped in bread. I ate the whole thing, because I was really hungry and took the fruit skewer to go, which was definitely the high point of the dish. On the way out, I think my dad mumbled something about not going back and how Emmy’s has a better, faster brunch for cheap. Worst of all, I went to the gym after and had the worst workout I’ve had as far as I can remember. That potato wrap definitely did not do any good for me. Not what I’d expect from a veggie wrap at all. Overall: over-priced for hit-or-miss and generally mediocre food.

«NY, NY is an awesome place to eat but Egg Harbor is better for breakfast. NY, NY is good for lunch. At NY, NY the food can take a while to get to you. As for Egg Harbor it does not take as long. At NY, NY I ordered the red velvet pancakes. I liked the pancake but I did not like the frosting. The frosting did not taste like normal cream cheese. There were parts of the pancake where the outside was cold but the middle was really warm. I loved the potatos, sausage, and the hot chocolate! My sister thought a cucumber in the water was odd, I guess adults like this. I liked the couches, that was really cool!»

K,…great location in cute little downtown Hinsdale. At the front we were greeted by a coordial host who directed our attention to the sample dishes which were actual orders on the menu. Plates were huge and looked delicious. The place is spacious and décor fun. Seating against the left wall are cool orange couches. Service was great. We had Donna as our server. She was friendly, patient(2 nieces in tow), and very accomodating throughout. I ordered another veggie omelette, this time with added Italian sausage instead of chicken, hashbrowns well done, whole wheat toast, side of bacon, and of course coffee. In reverse order coffee was solid, not spectacular. The bacon was good, not as great. If you love bacon, ya gotta try Pancake Café in Naperville. The bacon there is spectacular. The omelette was huge, veggies were good and plentiful, too much cheese though and it had the consistency of Velvetta. I would have preferred if the server had asked what kind I liked. It looked like I ended up with American Cheese(not what I would have chosen). The Italian sausage was different, not like others, lacking spice and slightly rubbery. Next time I’ll choose another meat instead. Hashbrowns were fresh and well done as requested. Toast were just ok. Overall, my dish was inferior to the exact dish I had at Pancake Café. But décor and feel at NY, NY is much more fun, no comparison. Everyone else mostly ordered french toast or red velvet pancakes. The following is my niece Leah’s review which I promised I would include: «NY, NY is an awesome place to eat but Egg Harbor is better for breakfast. NY, NY is good for lunch. Very nice space. Tries way too hard to be everything to everyone; it ends up diluting the quality of the food and experience. They should cut the menu in half and focus on quality and service. Try doing fewer menu items excellent, instead of all things things mediocre. Awful(ambivalent) service(orders brought to table piecemeal ~10 minutes apart, wrong items brought to table) and attention to detail(incredibly dirty glasses and flatware). Quality of the ingredients is average at best.

here’s the scoop. décor — funky & adorable the host — hot servers — pleasant & helpful was it crowded? we went on a monday at like 9 am. so no, and i would recommend going at a time like this to beat the weekend crowds. promptness of receiving our food — shockingly quick! portions — large the reason i’m giving it 4 stars. i guess i was all hyped up about what i ordered(carrot cake french toast… yes i went there) and i guess it was meh in comparison to what i thought id be. it was good but not like to die for. on the other hand, my friend got this huge omelet with hash browns and it was delish! i would certainly recommend and ill definitely have to pop by to try more of their dishes. i’m hooked :) and there was food left over to take home.

Super fun twist on breakfast. I am a big fan of breakfast in general but when a place can give a little more it’s always welcomed. New Yolk New Yolk has a large menu fulled with old favorites as well as fantastic new ideas. We tried the carrot cake french toast with cream cheese frosting — magnificent! I don’t really like bacon but New Yolk New Yolk’s chocolate covered bacon should be tried by all visitors. There are so many other items I want to try that I will be back and that’s saying a lot because I need to travel all the way from the south suburbs. A little hard to find in downtown Hinsdale but worth the search!

The latest member of the eggstasy family, the fare is very similar. A huge omelette menu(not to mention huge omelettes) and several fancy french toast creations are the features. Hoping to get a smaller portion, I ordered a breakfast panini, which was tasty but not small. Diwei X got an omelette, which again was huge– almost too huge. The coffee is excellent. The service is friendly, and the décor is pretty cool. Very grenwich village. Actually would have fit in somewhere in Chicago. Why only ok? Even for the huge portions, it seemed a bit overpriced, and when he asked for tomato juice they gave him v8. We can tell the difference, guys!

New Yolk New Yolk? Well it’s was«Eggsactly» what I needed for lunch on this bright, Tuesday afternoon. Owned by the same people who own Eggstasy on 22nd Street in Oak Brook, this sunny café is located in the old Hinsdale theater. In fact, the original balconies of the theater are still intact over the dining room and coffee bar. Open for only breakfast and lunch, their breakfast dishes are quite tasty as are their sandwiches and soups. We were seated in the back room at a white table amongst bright yellow walls and looked over the menu. For my bacon loving friends– get this– they have chocolate covered bacon. Be still my heart! They also have a wide array of omelets, skillets, crepes and Eggs Benedict. But on this day, lunch was in order. I ordered a three cheese grilled cheese sandwich stuffed with tomato and bacon, with soup and fries(only $ 8.95) and my friend had the chicken kabob wrap with soup and fries(only $ 9.95). Really inexpensive for all the food that you get. They also have salads, burgers, panninis, and two soups of the day. The service was spot on– friendly and inviting and checking back to make sure we had everything we needed including drink refills. There is a metered parking lot in the back(50 cents for 2 hours…gotta love the suburbs!) or you can try parking out on First Street. There was no line for lunch(not the case on weekends for breakfast so go early) and New Yolk New Yolk is open every day from 6am — 3pm. Definitely an «Eggscellent» luncheon«Eggsperience!

Since the opening last month, I’ve had the chance to eat here three times. Twice with the wife, and once with the kids. In all, I love it, but you have to be in the mood for some rich food, served at a slower pace than your average breakfast joint. Make no mistake, this is not your average breakfast joint. While you could order two eggs scrambled and bacon, that’s not what this restaurant is about. They specialize in creative, fanciful breakfast. For example, they have a Greek huevos rancheros that is absolutely delicious. I’m also a big fan of the Caprese Benedict. New Yolk is definitely more of a special place for breakfast, rather than a day in, day out place. The service is good, aside from being on the somewhat slower side. It’s understandable given the size of their menu and the diversity of things they offer. This just isn’t the place to go if you need to eat breakfast in under 30 minutes. It is pricey, but I wouldn’t call it outrageous. What is outrageous however are the portion sizes. Sometimes they are just right, but order one of their omelettes and what is delivered in front of you is a heaping mass of egg the size of a high school football. The one time I tried their healthy scramble I couldn’t believe that they plopped down what must have been 600 calories of eggs. Some people love being served mounds of food, but to me it makes me feel like a barnyard animal. It hurts the presentation. It has to be said that for a restaurant to only have a closet bathroom is a bit of a joke. This is not a small place, but just like the restaurant that previously occupied dislocation, there is but a single toilet for each of the sexes. Trust me when I say that this makes having young children with you somewhat inconvenient. Ending on a positive note, I have always thought the fruit was reasonably fresh, their English muffins are particularly good, and I’m not sure where they get their sausage from but it is the best in the area.
