Great product and really awesome service. Purchased bone-in rib eye, stuffed mushrooms, and twice baked potatoes ended up being -$ 85. Similar to Whole Foods but you are supporting a local small business. Realized my hubby has been here too and we have also tried their bacon wrapped asparagus. Delicious. Will return for again at some point special meal. It was for sure one of the top steaks I have had in my life. Others though we’re a bit cheaper hence 4 stars.

Just tried this(with a Groupon). My husband bought strip steaks and 2 stuffed potatoes.($ 7.98 which I thought was pricey). I told him that we probably wouldn’t go there again since it was VERY expensive! But we just finished our meal and I’m a believer. My go to place is Wildfire and this rivaled it. One of(if not THE) best steaks I’ve ever had. (Cooked on our new Hamilton Beach indoor grill). Perfection!

Just had two filets butchered for me, brought them home and barbecued them! Wow were they ever good! The service at this location is fantastic! The selection of meats, cheeses, and condiments is quite large. Why go to a big box shop when you can get excellent meats at a place like this? Wonderful. So glad they are here!

Live in the city and work in the west suburbs. Stumbled upon this gem today for lunch. I didn’t buy any steaks or chops but everything looked awesome and will definitely be back next time I’m heading directly home after work. I ordered a boars head sandy on a French loaf and it was delicious. Plenty of meat and great fresh toppings available. Both the gentlemen and the lady behind the counter were friendly. Will be back to try everything else they have to offer.

Great filets! They were more tender and thick than the fancy steak houses in the city. I look forward to picking up some more this summer. Yum, Yum, Yum.

On Wednesday evening, 2÷18÷2015 I purchased two veal chops, a frozen shrimp scampi, salisbury steaks, rice and buffalo dip. The Veal chops were at least 50% percent fat. Just terrible. At that price per pound I would expect better quality. I’ve had veal chops in high end restaurants for near the same price and these could not come close to comparison. The tiny shrimp scampi were drowning in lemon juice and I think cayenne? Salisbury steaks nothing to write home about. We have had excellent beef steaks from their store before and were just shocked at the poor quality in these products. I also emailed them via their website and their direct email listed on their website before posting this review, but did not get a response.

This butcher shop is really special. I hosted a BBQ at a friend’s house and our guests were raving about the steaks I brought home. And, they are a tough crowd! Whenever I get back to Chicago, I always try to stop in and at least grab a sandwich. You won’t be disappointed.

Excellent deli sandwhiches, excellent people. I get lunch there all the time and it’s always delicious. Best place in West Chicagoland to get a sandwich.

I moved to the western burbs 3 years ago after spending my entire life on the southside. Since moving here i have been looking for a quality butcher, similar to the half dozen i knew on the southside. After trying several other local butchers and not being satisfied i found Prime n Tender and decided to give them a try. The place looks like nearly every butcher shop, not gonna rate it up or down by that. The person at the counter(assuming he was the owner) was extremely nice and helpful. We got a Strip steak and Cajun pork chop for dinner that night. Both were amazing. The steak was of perfect quality and worth the extra $ that you spend vs going to Jewel and getting there meat. The food was a bit pricery but i expect as much with a butcher and the price was worth it for the quality. Prime cut is the way i went, it is alot more $$$$ but way worth it. We also got 2 deli sandwiches for a early lunch and both were delicious. We are overall very happy so far and will try this place again.

I used my groupon and purchased two new york strip steaks, a stuffed pork chop and marinated mushrooms. The pork chop and mushrooms were excellent. I purchased(1) Prime and(1) choice steak. I also purchased a New York strip at Standard market on the way home. I just grilled them this afternoon abnd the cheapest steak from Standadr market atsted the best. Also, the lower cost New York strip steak from Prime and tender was better than than their $ 29 steak. In fact my wife had trouble chewing the most expensive steak. I wouldn’t buy steak there; standadrd market is less costly and better quality.

My family has been shopping at Prime n Tender for quite a few years now(how is this the first time I’m writing a review?!) and it’s our favorite butcher in the Chicagoland area. First, the staff is top notch. They always greet you with a smile and a warm hello plus they are eager to help and answer any/all questions you may have… and my mom usually has quite a few. Personally I’m not a huge meat eater but when my mom brings home their italian sausage or brats I start up the grill immediately! I’m also a huge fan of their house-made tamales and enchiladas. They have both chicken and pork and they are amazing… perfect for lunch or cook up some rice and beans and make a meal out of them for dinner. When I moved away from Chicago my mom would bring these down in a cooler when she came to visit! I like them so much because they are simple, authentic and ready to eat! Another reason I really like Prime n Tender is the wide selection of frozen foods. They have everything from mini pizzas, pot pies, soups and even some dips! Between the vast selection of meats and the prepared foods there is definitely something for everyone. If you live in the suburbs Prime and Tender is definitely worth checking out!

After breakfast in Gateway Square, my father said«Let’s grab some meat!» so a quick stop to Prime N Tender was in order. I am not a huge meat eater. I love me some good chicken and the occasional cheeseburger but that is about it. My dad, on the other hand, picked up a tenderloin. The staff happily cut it into steaks and trimmed it for him. There is a huge variety of pre-made goodies. Chicken breasts stuffed with almost anything imaginable, bacon wrapped asparagus, and these fantastic cheese-stuffed portabella. I also grabbed some cheese stuffed shells from the freezer section. From what my dad said, their prices are pretty high on the cow bits. But… he said the meat was totally worth it for that $ 120 tenderloin. If nothing else, the variety of pre-made deli goodies will certainly bring me back.

First time here and i had a groupon. Great selection and super friendly staff. I can’t wait to take the items I got home to eat them! I don’t live close, but this place was worth the drive.

O… M…G… this is Carnivore Paradise. Seriously. And being how I am a shameless carnivore, you can imagine how excited I was to see an offering on Groupon for this place. My haul from Prime N Tender Meats included ribeye steaks, mini meatloaf, homemade breakfast sausage, several cuts of swine, and… and… I forget, really. I was robbed of most power of speech and could only point and nod and watch as items were lovingly wrapped up. Occasionally, I remembered to wipe the drool off my chin before it hit the floor. It was kinda strange, because no meat counter EVER has elicited this sort of response from me. No display case of raw meat has EVER made me so effin’ HUNGRY. My stomach growled incessantly the entire time. I could have blown my entire paycheck here. Luckily, lack of freezer space kept me focused. My Groupon did not stretch very far, but that was okay.

Yesterday was my first time at Prime and Tender and it won’t be my last. The staff was extremely friendly and the owner(at least I think he was the owner) was very helpful. We bought a 2 lb prime rib roast to try for Christmas Eve and they were very informative on how to cook it since it was my first time. On top of that the owner threw in a small bag of au jus sauce. Besides that, the place was stocked with different types of meats that look fantastic. We ordered some pasta salads too. I cooked the prime rib last night and we were not disappointed. I’ll be back for some of the marinated chicken breasts, stuffed pork chops, and sea food. Its price, but you get what you pay for. If you’re looking for some fabulous cuts of meat and great service I’d definitely recommend Prime and Tender. I’m sold and will be a customer for a long time.

I love this place! The meat has always been so tasty! Our Favorites are the kabobs and the Steak burgers! We order from them any time we have a bbq. Have you ever been at the grocery store and you get that idiot butcher tha can not give you advice on how to cook it. and just says. when the label prits it will have the temp to cook it at. well not here! The best part is. they can giv you recommendations as to how to cook their meats and fish. They recommended I bake the kabobs for 1 hour at 325 before grilling them. this saved me so much time on the grill, I just baked them all the day before and walla. they were done in 20 min on the grill! Oh and did I mention they always have wine out for tasting! So you can get your meats and wine!

Prime N Tender is more than just a butcher shop. Of course their meats are top quality, but there is so much more to love about this family owned and operated business. For busy people, the prepared meals they have are extraordinary – frozen fish that bakes from frozen in less than an hour, including salmon, tilapia, cod, and sole. They have Cajun pork chops ready to hit the grill and be on your table in 16 minutes that have to be tasted to believe how great they are, moist and flavorful. In the freezer you will also find beef stew, chili, meatballs, marinara sauce, crab, duck, shrimp, scallops, soups, lasagna, ravioli and more. I have yet to be disappointed with anything I’ve purchased. They also have prepared burgers, homemade sausage, chicken breasts marinated in a variety of sauces, chicken breasts for baking that are stuffed with wonderful combinations, like spinach and feta. Their meatloaf with cheddar cheese is to die for. Their salads make wonderful sides for your meals, and you can enjoy a fantastic dinner in no time. The best thing about this store, though, is the people running it. You will actually find good old-fashioned service here, and they are always willing to help you with any special requests. From the owners, Dan Sr. and Dan Jr., to the staff, Christine, Joe and Lisa – they are friendly and caring and FUN! Just go in and try them out and see if you don’t keep going back for more! They are fantastic!

Meat, meat and more meat! There is something primal about this butcher shop and when I go– I go to feed my inner carnivore. And who says that women are gatherers and men are hunters? I go to hunt out the best piece of beef known to man-not to mention the fresh turkeys that they have every Christmas and Thanksgiving! No-there are not racks of dead cows hanging in full view of the consumers– nor are there ducks strung up around as interesting décor. This is still Hinsdale, you know! But this neighborhood butcher shop has everything and more. Prime Rib? Check. Tenderloin? Check. Prime or Choice cuts? Check. Giant cheese and vegetable stuffed chicken breasts? Check. Even their sides are amazing. Boursin cheese and prosciutto wrapped asparagus spears. Double baked potatoes. Giant portebella mushrooms stuffed with butter and bread crumbs! Absolutely delicious. And all ready to put on the grill or cook inside. This store is not for the faint of heart vegetarian or vegan. But then, neither are most of the dinners that I serve at my house!
