Fantastic shop! I needed to ship a bike over Christmas and they helped me get it ready to go. The guy who helped me(sorry I didn’t get his name!) was as friendly and patient as they come. I highly recommend this shop!

Happy to purchase my 5th bike from OC; the first was a Schwinn Tornado my parents bought from Tom Owen for my 6th birthday. Nearly 40 years later, Owen Cyclery remains a Chattanooga icon not by chance, but through superior customer service, Expert knowledge, and by offering a wide spectrum of bikes to fit all experience levels.

Update… Eric did refund my money… as he said he would. I never thought when I posted the first review I would hear from this company. I was venting of course because I thought they didn’t care. Turns out they do! I was blown away when the refund was offered. I accepted his gracious offer and Eric was very pleasant to talk to. I am glad this was resolved and appreciate Eric going the extra mile to make a customer happy.

I have always been very pleased with the service and prices at Owen. This time I had a saddle issue that the guy just couldn’t get right, which is the reason I only gave 4 stars.

Returning to the world of cycling as a weekend warrior after an eleven-year hiatus, I needed a bike shop that was close to my residence, knowledgeable, large enough to have a decent inventory, and friendly enough to encourage a ‘small shop’ atmosphere. I found all those and more, at Owen’s. They maintain an inventory that ranges from solid, high-quality beginner bikes, to upper echelon, high-dollar bikes for the ultra-serious cyclist. No one rolled their eyes when I wheeled my 15-year old tricked out Trek in the door, or even on a later visit when I «carried» my beginner trail bike back to the repair counter. The staff has experience in all phases of riding, from formal, competitive events, to casual family situations. You’ll find all the ‘good’ names in cycling inside their door: Trek, Cannondale, Eastern, Redline, Mirraco Gary Fisher, as well as ‘most any accessory you need to get started in the sport, or maintain your equipment.(Except a fresh, 20-year old pair of legs!) Maintenance-wise, they can handle anything from a full re-build with custom wheels, to a tune-up for a grandchild’s old ten speed, and they’ll do it professionally, with good humor at ‘no extra charge’. Owen has been in business for over 40 years, and have supported many good causes. Over the years, the shop has worn many hats and earned exemplary titles based on selfless acts of cycling service. When the 911 Firefighters rode through Chattanooga, the shop guys became Monks of Maintenance; when races needed support they became Hydration Heroes; and daily, in every interaction, their eyes are open for opportunities to meet the needs of their community. Be it providing bikes for underprivileged kids, gathering forces for blood drives, or turning a wrench for free, the cast of Owen Cyclery keeps an attitude of giving and gratitude. I like supporting businesses that support their community. That, in itself, makes stopping and shopping at Owen the right thing for me.
