Around Halloween, I decided that I wanted to go to a pumpkin patch. I was looking online trying to find a pumpkin patch in the area and came across Merrillville Farms’ facebook page. I called to confirm they were open, typed the address into my phone, and off we went. When we pulled up to the farm we were confused because there were no cars and there were children playing outside of a house. We asked if we had the correct address and one of the owners, Ginger, told us we did and that she would give us a ride on her tractor out to the pumpkin patch. She dropped us in the patch and told us to come back when we had our pumpkins. It was really fun, we had the whole pumpkin patch to ourselves. We came back with one big pumpkin, two medium sized pumpkins, and two small pumpkins. The total was $ 9. We talked with Ginger for a while and she told us that they have seasonal crops for the picking. They have blueberries, tomatoes and other fruits and vegetables that you can just go and pick during the summer. I definitely will be back to do that. Also, they sell fresh eggs. I can’t remember the exact price, but they were super affordable. I am happy that we found this place and am looking forward to picking things in the spring.
