Church Square Park Dog Run

It’s an ok dog run. Hoboken has a ton of them but none are anything special. Usually small!
They cleaned this place up over the last year. No more nasty pissed saturated sand and mud puddles. They put in new gates, shaded seating and gravel. My dog is not a fan of the gravel but at least I don’t have to bathe everytime we go.

Our town needs to step up and help this park out. A regular maintenance plan needs to be in place where it is regularly inspected, cleaned and resurfaced with gravel (or better yet, something better than dirty gravel. I went today and was incredibly upset about the dust that gets blown up in the air just from my dog running around. He left FILTHY and I had to come home and put him right in the tub. The water fountain there is leaking and provides for a nasty, muddy puddle/​stream of water across the park.

I only like coming here because it is perhaps the biggest dog park in Hoboken. There are no poop-​bag dispensers, so make sure you bring your own! Also, like almost every other dog park in Hoboken, it has gravel. It took my dog a while to get used to it, but after she did she loves to run around. The downside to this is most of the time, all the dogs that leave are filthy and usually must be washed after (especially when it is very dry). One tip: do not wear nice shoes here! I like how it has water, and shade in the summer. This park is good if your dog needs space to run.

This is a great dog park. I felt that 2 stars wasn’t acceptable for what it is.
It’s big, has shade, has 2 separate runs for tiny dogs and big dogs. Some people are oblivious to why there are 2 parks but anyway.
If you think there isn’t enough seating, you’re doing the dog park wrong. It isn’t for you to sit and play on your iPhone, you’re there to watch your dog and play with him/​her. Get off your ass.
Don’t wear flip flops… this should be obvious.
There are no baggies for poop, but I guess others have missed the shovel and rake to pick up your dog’s poo… And if you walked to your dog to the park, you should already have baggies.
The gravel kinda sucks, but it’s better than dirt. The water gets turned off in the winter and in the summer can be sporadic that is the downside. Yes, they need to fix the gate but other than that it’s decently maintained.
The downside to this park isn’t the park it’s the piss poor dog owners that come here from time to time. There are no bad dogs, just bad dog owners. Watch your dog, you aren’t there to get a break you’re there so your dog will have fun, if your dog is misbehaving, starting fights, humping anything and everything don’t be updating your facebook status get your damn dog!
This is a great run, great size and the dogs love it.

We bring our French bulldog Hamlet here on occasion, because it is the closest park to our apartment. It’s nice that there is a section for small dogs, and whether he knows it or not, our dog Hamlet is small!
The only thing is, I hate that the two fenced in areas are all dirt. Hamlet leaves there filthy every time we go, so taking him more than once in a while is difficult since you really shouldn’t bathe your dog every day.
As a previous reviewer said, there are no poop bag dispensers, which would be a really nice perk! There is only one bench for us humans to sit on in the small dog section, but it’s not as big of a deal since I have never seen more than 2 or 3 dogs here at once.
I will definitely bring Ham back, but we also want to check out the other dog parks in the area.

— Crushed stone ground cover with a lot of dirt exposed
— Inadequate fencing in areas
— Gates needs repair and entry areas too small
— No water in small dog run
— Limited seating in small dog run
New fencing, gates and more seating would make this a solid 3 star run. Add new ground cover and a 4 star run.
