The food was good, the tikka massala and biryani were both well done. My problem is I ordered take out at 6:45 on a Monday night, the food did not come for 2 hours, when on Grub Hub it stated the food should be there by 8:10. When I called the restaurant at 8:15 they stated 10 or 15 minutes, I lived too far away so it will take too long. Hoboken is a mile long! There is no reason it should take that long to deliver within Hoboken, the food arrived around 8:45, that seems crazy for it to take that long. I will order from another Indian restaurant in the future.

Went here for a dinner buffet on a Tuesday night. Not the BEST food in town, but not the worst either. The food was okay, and nothing exciting. Small assortment, but much different from other places. The bad part was that i was sick a few hours later to my stomach. and all i ate was this food. The service? When it came time to pay the check, i walked up myself to ask them for the check. The entire staff was in a different room talking and laughing and chatting, not taking care of our table. When i got my check, i walked up there again to give them my card, as they were taking way too long. I would not go back, i was not satisfied. The only reason they got 2 stars was because they had interesting buffet options, which were only 2, rather than the usual 10 – 15 that most indian places have.

Food was excellent and this reviewer’s been around NJ Indian establishments. Ambiance great for a date. Mango chutney spicy sauce was great. Remember parking validation applies to dine in only or you will be charged ‘Boken’ garage rate. Later…

50 minutes for delivery on a 6:00 order on a Monday night for soggy poori and pakoras? Yup, that’s what you get. Normally I’d call this a 2 star experience but I must admit I was happy with half of my meal, despite the hour wait on the every busy order time of 6:00 on a Monday. Veggie pakora — described as cauliflower, potato, and eggplant fritters. That’s exactly what you get, and 2 of each. For delivery they will be soggy and disappointing. Other places to mixed veggie pakoras which are better. Don’t order this. Poori — fried crispy bread? For delivery, its more like soggy naan. Don’t get this. Chicken tikka masala — a positive it note. Chicken was super tender and sauce was flavorful. I recommend this. Lamb vindaloo — pretty much everything I just said. Tender melt in your mouth lamb with a nice slow afterburn spice on it. This is good too. The dishes also come with dhal, which was more soupy and liquidy than you get elsewhere. Overall, the mains were solid but the apps were soggy(anything fried) and delivery was very slow. I’d give the nod to Karma Kafe. Sorry IontH.

Had a maggot in my in lunch box the other week. I understand that this can happen — but when I complained they didnt really give a damn. What a shame, I had good experience at this place before. I guess I wont come back…

As a Jersey City resident, my standards for Indian food is pretty high and my tolerance for spicy is also high for a white girl. After doing my Unilocal homework, I decided this place was worth a shot. I was a bit worried when I arrived and noticed there were only about 3 patrons in the restaurant because Lord knows that is never a good sign. However, it was late Friday night so perhaps it was past«poppin» dinner time LOL I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, my boyfriend ordered the Chicken Curry. I believe in the theory«stick to what you know» when trying a new place, especially something as riskay as Indian cuisine. First things first — the portions were HUGE! The food was flavorful and not too oily like some Indian food can be. Absolutely delish! I did have one qualm — it WASN’T spicy enough for my liking even though I did ask for«pretty spicy» which was incredibly specific. I also noticed an article on the wall advertising this place as a «mild» Indian restaurant. yanno. so the yuppie Lehigh grads in Hobo can handle the heat so maybe I set my spicy standards to high. Last thing — the samosas. WTF. We ordered the lamb samosas as an appetizers and sure they were impressive and huge in size but the lamb inside was dry and lacking flavor. Sort of disappointed because my work cafeteria makes better samosas than these. Last last thing — I promise. It is called India On The Hudson. But this isn’t on the Hudson at all. It’s on Washington Ave. Minor issue but I was expecting this to be a romantic restaurant overlooking midtown Manhattan but it’s in the dreary end of Washington Ave. Womp womp… AMAZINGFOODTHO!

Had their lamb samosa, chicken vindaloo & chicken tikka masala. The first two are not worth noting, but the chicken tikka masala, oh boy, that is definitely worth noting!!! It was so delicious, quite a surprise after tasting the chicken vindaloo. Nice décor on the inside, not one of those shabby Indian places, but nice to actually sit down in. They close at 11, I ordered at 10:30, everything was done in 10 minutes & waiting for us when we ran in all huff & puffed from jogging/briskly walking to make it in time, suhweeeeet.

HUGE group of us ordered a shit load of food over the phone. We get home and unpack all of the plastic see-through containers and NONE of them were marked. So we had to guess what was what. My Chicken Vindaloo was mostly fatty, gristley DARK meat even though I specifically asked for«just white meat» on the phone. The food was crap. We ONLY ordered from here because Bombay West(also on Washington street) does not open until 5pm. NEVERAGAIN!

Ordered a variety of both traditional and non-traditional foods. Nothing was good enough to eat. Don’t go here if you like Indian food.

A very small and narrow restaurant that only fits about 5 – 7 tables with a long stretch of booths. Width is less than 9 feet– yes, tiny. The décor is romantic and is good for couples and a quick business meeting. No family dining recommended. The food is good indian, authentic, but more spicy than necessary. The staff are all males, and are very pleasant and friendly. Street parking, which can be a challenge because of its location on the very busy Washington St.

Anyone who has ever been to India and would like real, tasty, fresh Indian food, DONOT go here… The waiter knew we were on to this place and gave us free dessert(which obviously came out of a can, not fresh at all). Huge disappointment.

I’ve been here for regular dinner once and buffet dinner a few times. The buffet on Monday night is clutch and the food is very good. Comparable to Karma in Hoboken. Cute interior as well.

Good Indian food. Staff is very nice. The Lunch Buffet is worth every penny. Added Bonus: try the Indian beer.

Not the best Indian restaurant ever, but good. I like the buffet which is available everyday and reasonably priced at around $ 15. The service is really good and they have a fully stocked bar. And, if you are coming from out of town, they validate parking at a nearby garage.

India on the Hudson. There is a charming buffet everyday from 12 – 3. The food is delicious and the wait staff is very friendly and helpful.

India on the Hudson is a great restaurant that surpassed my expectations. The dining room is stylish, yet uncluttered… modern, yet traditionally Indian. I was shocked to find a bar inside, especially one serving cosmos and other typical bar items. The service was extremely friendly and attentive… possibly a bit flirty, but we do not need to go into that! The Sun-Dried Tomato Naan was slightly greasy, but unusual and savory. The Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Bhuna with herbs were both packed with flavor. Both meats were tender and melted in your mouth. As a parting gift, we received some sweet rice pudding that we happily enjoyed. India on the Hudson offers traditional India fare with a modern twist and affordable prices.

This review is only for delivery– Too much spice — not enough FLAVOR!!! I should’t feel like I’m eating ½ a hand of ginger when I’m trying to enjoy my saag paneer. The lamb vindaloo was all bite, and no bark — where’s the subtlety? Oh yeah, thats right… its at Bombay West. We are not friends.
