Stayed around the corner and was excited to have coffee shop next door. But unfortunately we will never be back. Coffee was pretty terrible. All 3 of us agreed that it was the worst coffee in our life. It has some plastic after taste. We’ve ordered lates, but it tasted more like cheap drip coffee with some extra milk. No thick foam either. Im not that fussy about the coffee, but that one was bad(

Not sure why there are all these great reviews. Both myself and friend went in to get muffins and coffee. The coffee was ok, but the muffins?!? It was like basically eating compacted sawdust. I hope the baker was just having an off day

Coffee is pretty good, but not as good Bwe café. They only take cash, but I appreciate that there is a side window you can order from if you’re in a stroller or don’t want to come inside. Many interesting selections for muffins and scones and they are excellent.

Subpar coffee at best. I was served a burnt, stale cup of black coffee. Even though there was no one else in the shop, the kid behind the counter made me wait until he finished making a cold coffee drink for himself. Then he tried to overcharge me by a higher cost than was clearly printed on the overhead menu. Maroon is entirely forgettable.

I came here because I really wanted the Twix Latte in the Unilocal pics but was saddened to see its not on the menu anymore. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find a Tiramisu Latte and very much enjoyed it. The espresso was strong and not bitter at all, perfectly created. This coffee bar is a quick place to run in and grab a cup, it’s got limited seating, and parking is a huge challenge(yay to double-parked spouses!), plus it’s cash only. If I had more cash on me, I wish I could’ve tried their delicious-looking homemade muffins in various creative flavors. Next time!

Love this place. Delicious flavors to add to coffee and iced tea without sugary syrups. This is the only place I’ve been that creates their own flavoring and it keeps me coming back. The muffins are to die for(all kinds). FYI, it’s cash only and I’d probably go more often if they took cards since I’m often without cash.

This is 2015… They should be accepting credit cards. The self-importance of being«cash only» baffles me. Sorry, it’s just not that good. And raises the question… Why? What a crappy way to run a business. Pay your taxes, oblige your customers and get over yourself

Best coffee in Hoboken(drip, black). The place is pretty cool all in all, the pastries aren’t too bad. If you need to grab a cup, this is the place to go. Just bring cash.

I live around the corner, and I stopped in here for a latte one morning, now I’m hooked. Such a great coffee and tea selection. This is the kind of place you come to if you actually like coffee. If you want a vanilla latte, the vanilla is brewed into the coffee, not a sugary, god-knows-whats-in-it syrup. All the muffins are delicious and home-made. Highly recommend this place to grab a quick, somewhat healthy breakfast. As long as I can pronounce all the ingredients in something as simple as a muffin, I’ll consider that healthy ;)

This coffee spot has everything and a million different types of coffee, iced coffee and hot chocolate variations. Caramel swirl hot chocolate? I’m definitely getting that next time! They have a ton of baked goods too, which I unfortunately didn’t try at my first visit, but I will be back to taste test them all. They looked heavenly. I got the toasted almond latte, as the barista recommended, and it did not disappoint! The staff is super friendly too. If you’re around/near Maroon it is absolutely worth checking out.

Stopped by late Sunday morning. Getting closer to the shop, I thought they were closed because there were all these signs taped on the window. Turns out they were signs about the food — kind of confusing. The menu can be overwhelming — cup of water, empty cup etc are extra fees FYI. I got a large coffee with skim milk — they were out of soy. The coffee was SUPER hot. I also got a pumpkin muffin which was delicious. Friend got yogurt. Granola was added at the counter. The shop gets a ton of light — too much in my opinion. I think prices are really reasonable. Cash only. P. S. The guy working the counter was coughing a little too much. Later that night both of us had itchy throats — one was worse than the other.(Deducted one star for this!)

Figured I should update this due to my somewhat old-ish review being featured in the Weekly Unilocal. One thing from my original review that is no longer true is that they don’t serve bubble tea anymore. No big loss, but thought I should clarify. One big thing worth mentioning is that they have expanded their line of in-house baked goods significantly and they are all excellent. Between their baked goods and yogurts and granola, they probably have the best«quick» food selection of any coffee place in Hoboken(certainly the most homemade selection). Also, since I first wrote my earlier review, I’ve stopped drinking anything with caffein. No problem, though, they are happy to make anything with decaf and they are one of the only places that has good quality iced decaf coffee every day — not even Starbucks offer that. There is a good selection of teas, as well. For these overall improvements and their continued consistency over the years, I give them an upgrade to 5 stars.

Super friendly staff which makes it feel like the«Cheers» of coffee shops. They remember you by name and know your drink! The coffee, espresso, and other drinks are superb. Try a muffin or scone, they are outstanding. It is cash only, but worth it.

Our go to morning coffee spot. Wish it wasn’t cash only. Ice coffee is great paired with one of their fresh baked scones!

**CASHONLY** They still have great croissants & scones. They are open 365 days a year and the guy(sorry I didn’t catch his name!) I was talking to tries to make it in even during natural disasters. That’s true dedication and for that, you guys definitely deserve a 5 star in my book. & thank you for not making my chai latte burning hot.

Its a great place, small neighborhood café. I grab a coffee from here usually before taking bus every morning. My only complaint is why close at 6 pm everyday? I would love to get a coffee from here on my way back home after work everyday. i wish they were open late. Hoboken needs more cafes like these. I would also ask the owner to increase the selection of food items they have. It’s a cash only place!

Came here before the Italian Festival to get a jolt of energy. I was not disappointed, probably the best iced coffee I have had outside of chain coffee houses. :-) We also had the chocolate scone which was very rich and delicious(probably spiked my sugar, but was worth it.) The prices are very reasonable. It is a tiny shop that is cash only but was not crowded and we were served right away. If I lived closer I could see myself coming here quite often on a Sunday morning to read my newspaper.

Stopped in here the other day. Really nice little place with a cool vibe and comfy space. Wide selection of varied croissants and sandwiches. Really good cappuccino. Such a nice oasis and change from Starbucks. Enjoyed it. Will be back.

I am giving it 3 stars because of the vibe i got from the employees. I went with 3 of my girlfriends on Saturday for a coffee and we had never been here so had questions about the items being sold etc. The employees were not friendly and had a dead personality while we asked questions and tried to figure out what we wanted. I understand that we were confused at the menu and were giggly, but it’s kind of their job to make us feel welcomed and try their product. One employee helped 2 of us and the other employee helped the other two then took over and tried to charge everyone even though some of us had already paid. I really enjoyed my mango green tea, but i wont go back because it seems like the employees didnt want to be bothered, nevermind gain new customers.

My boyfriend and I returned to Maroon Café a few weeks ago and I finally got to try their Twix Latte! When we went for a visit during the summer, the Twix Latte wasn’t available. The Twix Latte was the perfect hot, chocolatey drink for a windy and chilly morning. I loved it. It was one of the best drinks I ever had. My friend corrected me because they actually do have menus you can take with you that are on the counter. My boyfriend and I didn’t really eat breakfast, so we got one of their sandwich sets and my best friend recommended the miso egg mayo which was quite delicious. It was perfect and small, great for both boyfriend and I. Their was also sweet fruit and salad on the side. Maroon Café is definitely a great place to come for a morning or afternoon beverage, delicious nom noms, or if you want some quiet time with comfortable music to do work.
