Open only on Saturdays and Sundays, Maxwell’s 9.13.34 is a tiny, enchanted forest chock full of fun trinkets, jewelry,(all vintage), and rare little handbags.(A diminutive, French, black round box with itty-bitty flowers adorning it, is my personal favorite here.) Deb has a keen eye for not simply vintage, but designer quality vintage. Having worked for Armani, Valentino, Ferre,’ and other five star design houses, she will give you the back story on just about anything that catches your eye. This is the Hoboken I love… the nooks and crannies of time well-preserved. Much like the town itself, you take a walk back into another era upon entering this charming Wonderland of Alice’s own making. So grab your beaded cardigan, and simply open the red doors…

This is a secret gem of Hoboken. It’s a gem that I’ve only discovered from wandering the adorable secret back alleys of Hoboken. Located on a cobblestone street, with the famous red doors, this wonderful antique/vintage/costume jewelry store is a little piece of heaven. Despite it’s small square-footage, you can browse for hours without seeing everything. Every time I stop in(which I admit, is quite often) I see something new. That’s because the wonderful owner takes so much pride in carefully hand-selecting all the pieces for her shop, and also restocking frequently with new little treasures. I find amazing gifts here, and always(without fail) something for myself as well. In fact, I bought all of the jewelry for my own wedding in this shop. I always receive compliments on these items. And the shop owner has impeccable taste, and won’t hesitate to help you(or your bumbling boyfriend) select the perfect purchase.
