This bar in Hoboken Terminal has always been expensive, even when it was more of a dive a few years back, before the last 2 renovations(right before Sandy destroyed the first reno, and then the reopening this Fall 2013). I ordered a double Malibu and club while I was waiting for my train to ease the pain of having just missed mine by a minute. Normally I’d pay maybe about $ 12 and it comes in a pint glass with a big girl straw and tastes like booze. This was $ 16 and it was in a small, thin highball glass(see my pic). The bartender painstakingly measured the 4 shots to go in it, and apparently that makes it a double. I know they have a lot of renos to pay for and the primo rent must be high there. But if I’m having one and done, and I don’t even get a buzz for $ 20, what’s the point? The red-headed lady who has always worked there is very nice, I will say that. But next time I miss my train I’m going to Teak or more likely Texas-Arizona across the street. Railhead is probably a better option for the $ 2 can of beer crowd.
