Walked out of here as the guy making my sandwich started licking the sauce off his fingers then continuing to make my sandwich. He apologized, but nonetheless if that happens in front of the scenes, imagine what happens BEHIND the scenes in terms of food sanitation here. Stay away!

I hate this part of Unilocal.I really use the app for suggestions and not as a platform to blast businesses. So, it pains me to say that this place is really shady. Forget the posted hours of the food service. They stop at various times. Forget getting your order right. I can’t even count the times they’ve gotten our orders wrong. Forget getting the correct change. A few times my change has been short a dollar. Forget consistency. Sandwiches vary depending on who is working. And most importantly, forget customer service. There is a language barrier but they can be down right rude. If these things don’t bother you… Give it a try.

Small, everything-in-one, grocery store in Hoboken. It opens early on weekends offering salvation and convenience to those who forgot beverages for local BYOB brunches. Sandwiches from the deli counter are available, but this seems more like a place for prepackaged goods. Prices are a bit high(about a $ 5 markup on champagne vs other liquor stores), but convenience is all there.

Every time I order from this place something goes wrong and it’s the most basic orders. The orders are also hot or miss. They’ll be good one day and terrible the next. Last time I went they let someone else take my order right off the counter why they fixed my other order they screwed up, so I asked for my money back and was offered nothing to make up for it but a few shoulder shrugs. DONOTORDERFROMHERE!

I stopped by here on my walk home from work one evening to pick up a sandwich for dinner. I had the Jersey Joe sandwich with turkey on rye and was less than impressed. The bread was not toasted, the turkey meat tasted old(like prepackaged meat from the ShopRite aisle), the cheese was simply some cheddar Cheez Whip, and there was barely any cole slaw. I wouldn’t eat here again. Lesson learned… no matter how tired you are, don’t pick up food from what is clearly a predominantly liquor store.

If you walk into a deli in Hoboken and order a sub and they proceed to SLAP the bread on the counter first… this is really the only way to know you are going to get a really good sandwich. If your deli of choice is always blasting anything and everything on channels ESPN through ESPN«The Ocho», you will be getting excellent service. If you find yourself in an area of Hoboken such as this, thirst growing with every step, knowing only the cool crispness of a Bud Light will help keep you going, but you don’t want to pay more than $ 6 and change, you’re in luck. If you are randomly walking by and for no apparent reason want a nip of Goldschläger, that’s weird. But Sasso’s can accommodate. Whatever the reason, Sasso’s has been my go-to ever since getting to Hoboken. Their food is consistently good, with a variety of hot meals for a quick dinner on the go, or if you have a few minutes to wait… get a delightful sandwich to bring home. My usual is turkey, fresh mozzarella, L, T, O, P, chopped hots. Definitely a good dinner just about any night of the week. Recently they have started to deliver, but I like going in to watch them make my sandwich(odd, I know.) Parking, as always, is a challenge, but strategic double parking is always available if you feel like taking a little risk. Cheap six packs, decent wine selection, excellent food, nice staff & plenty of other small options(cake, ice cream, chips, gatorade, water…) make Sasso’s a requisite stop should you find yourself on or near the corner of 11th& Garden.

Great Sandwiches! They get their Bread from Brooklyn, it’s Brick Oven. Nothing like it in Hoboken! Beers, boos it’s all there! Great Guys behind the Counter also! Gotta try it! It’s the only place me and my wife go!

I made the mistake of not checking Unilocal before ordering from here. Placed a order through which was made completely wrong. The receipt had the wrong order on it and even then the incorrect receipt didn’t match the food I received. I paid an extra two dollars for a large chicken entrée which ended up being the exact same size as the small. Total ripoff. I will not be buying from here again and would recommend that everyone else avoid this place.

DONOTGOHERE. Friendly staff but that’s not a reason to go… Both of my sandwiches were made wrong, the chicken tastes like an old sink, and it took an eternity. You can buy beer/liquor/wine at half the price at Sparrow and if you want a sandwich, don’t mess around and just go to Vito’s. Sorry guys, big fail.

Sasso’s is that small place on the corner that provides all your quick needs for when you do not want to go to a supermarket or a drug store. They have mostly drinks and food in the place, but also offer some other items. I hear that the sandwiches they make are pretty good and that they deliver. They have a good amount of beer for sale here as well as hard alcohol. It is good if your in the area and in a bind for some booze. Overall I gave it three stars because of the convenience it provides being close to my apartment, the emergency alcohol selection it offers, and the other emergency items it has on sale. I plan on trying their subs when I go there next time and doing an update for this review.

I was looking around for a place in Hoboken that offered alcohol and cheap eats. Believe me when I tell you that this deli made my day. I ordered a Sinatra sandwich, but apparently that sandwich was unavailable. Sasso’s did have the courtesy to call me up and let me know what substitutes I could pick out. I received some sort of chicken marsala hybrid sandwich which was phenomenal. Three sandwiches were left in total and all of them were of high quality. As far as liquor prices go they were right in line with what you would get in Hoboken stores. Delivery time was good and there was nothing to complain about at all. I’m definitely going to order here again.

This place is actually not closed! For a small corner del/bodega, they really have a lot to offer. Their specialty seems to be heros, subs, and other Italian dishes. Nice emergency alcohol selection, especially considering how close it is me. Some new owners took over and are great to talk to and very attentive all around. I think my favorite would be their grilled or cajun chicken subs but I find the bread a little tough. All in all, not a bad take out spot when you’re short on time or don’t feel like cooking.
