Came here for lunch on a Sunday around 2:30 and was somewhat surprised that there were several other tables of people there. I had been to this location when it was Dona Rosa Kitchen, and it seems like they upgraded quite a few things. The décor is definitely better and the menu seems bigger. We tried the grilled beef tacos and a beef and pork dish that I honestly don’t remember the name of. However, before we tried either of our meals, we ate our body weight in chips and salsa. They give you two different salsas when you sit down. One was a salsa verde that had a little too much cilantro for my personal taste and the other was a salsa with a strong kick of garlic which we both devoured. The food came fresh and hot and was super delicious. I couldn’t eat all three of my tacos, so my fiancé had one of mine as well as his whole dish. We agreed that we would definitely come back and try more things off the menu. While we were there a fellow diner ordered fajitas, so of course we immediately wanted fajitas. They smelled amazing. Oh well, next time…

One negative or it would be 5 stars…$ 6 margarita’s aren’t worth the $ 3 Friday price. Other than that, the food was outstanding. Stick with $ 3 beers, free chips and salsa while you choose what to have. I had the cemita chicken sandwich. Oh my goodness, no wonder they’re famous for them. It’s enough to feed at least 2 people. I’m a big eater so it’s not a bird seed eater saying this. Breaded boneless chicken(really thin and yummy) with mexican string cheese, onion, avocado, tomato, papalo(looks like cilantro, has wonderful flavor), and peppers(which I asked them to hold). Brought half the sandwich home. Husband ordered the chicken enchilada’s, was not disappointed He, too, brought half his meal home. He loves the hot/heat and was not disappointed. The salsa verde was just the heat he was looking for. We had ordered an appetizer, the beef taquito to get our bill up to the right amount for our coupon. Two in an order, came nicely displayed with a large portion of delicious guacamole. They came with our meal so after eating half my dinner, the bite I took wouldn’t be fair to review since I was stuffed. Nice and crispy, dry inside — needed salsa and sour cream with guacamole yet my opinion my be completely different had I started with these and not been so full. Service was just ok, pleasant waitress who also tended bar. Had to flag her down for more drinks, for the check etc. Wasn’t horrible, wasn’t great, just ok. We will be sure to repeat minus the margarita’s, at $ 2 I might be tempted yet the solo cup worth in the shallowest margarita plastic ware I’ve ever seen might still be disappointing. Food is AWESOME, highly recommend.

I’ve been coming to this place for almost a year. The food is delicious. I’ve only tried their chicken torta, enchiladas verdes, and horchata(which is fresh and yummy). I’ve had my fair share of Mexican around the area and this is by far my favorite. In all my time coming here, I’ve only seen one other white person. That usually is a good sign to authentic ethnic dishes; in my experiences. They use fresh ingredients and take their time making dishes. They also give you complimentary fresh/warm tortilla chips and fresh salsa. They are so tasty. I need to venture out of my comfort zone and try something new off the menu. Their first restaurant’s location is in New Castle, on rt.13; I have written a review for that one as well.

Los Taquitos De Puebla II just opened in March where Dona Rosa used to be. They moved the fridge, took out a wooden divider, and added lots and lots of tables, a number of which were occupied when we stopped in on a Saturday Night. Los Taquitos De Puebla also expanded the menu a lot as well. Our meal began with complimentary chips and a spicy, watery salsa. The chips were decent, not home cooked like at Dona Rosa, but our pleasant server asked us if we wanted more, which we did. I do miss the bean dip that they had at Dona Rosa, but the chips were decent enough. Although we ordered an appetizer to split(called gringas, essentially seasoned pork and cheese in a flour tortilla with guacamole similar to a quesadilla), our server realized that we never received it when our entrees came out but we decided to try it anyway. The gringas was tasty but the cheese resulted in a rapidly expanding orange pool of grease that soon enveloped and soaked through the tortilla. While it was tasty(albeit greasy as hell), I can’t see us ordering it again. For our entrees my wife chose the grilled beef steak tacos which she was happy with. My son also enjoyed his mexican sausage tacos too. His girlfriend ordered some sort of soup with avocado that she was not real fond of and essentially some sort of vegetarian tacos that she liked. I had flank steak and grilled cactus tacos. They were ok but the flank steak was overcooked and devoid of moisture and the tacos did not come with cilantro as our server indicated they would. If they were not so cooked to death I could see myself ordering them again. I miss being able to order a mixture of tacos like you could at Dona Rosa but was told that this could not be done. For dessert, we tried tres leches cake which was essentially a big loaf of a cake that they slice up for you. The cake was not soaking in milk like every other tres leches cake I have tried elsewhere. Maybe it was a dos leches cake or an un leche cake. Who knows. It did have a whipped cream icing and some sort of fruit in it that did not contribute much to the lack of leche. We also tried a rice pudding and were presented with a small container of prepackaged rice pudding from some store(i kid you not… look at the picture). It was pretty lousy but not surprising. You’d think they could at least put it in a bowl or something rather than hand you a yogurt-like container with a spoon. All in all, our meal was so-so. It was also kind of pricy($ 77) for all of the above food and four sodas/bottled waters(but not diet sodas… they don’t sell any). I could see us coming back if the food was better but at this price, maybe not.
