What a fun local place!!! This is a typical, small town ice house and it was a blast! Very clean and friendly, and the manager/owner(?) was on top of everything. The bartender/waitress, Dee Dee, was super sweet and helpful. We will definitely be back! Try out the incredible hot dog menu! The«Texas slaw» is made with ranch instead of mayo – very tasty.

Had a late lunch here yesterday with the wife’s family. Everyone really enjoyed it. Wife and father in law had the catfish plate and said it was really good. My brother in law, sister in law and myself had the Chicken Fried Steak and it was pretty damned good as well. Only drawback was that the only beer they had was Coors Light. Still enjoyed it. The owner/cook was great as well as the wait staff.

Just had what they call half a BBQ chicken. It’s the leg and thigh. Wouldn’t matter if it was a whole chicken because it was the most disgusting meal I’ve ever had. The BBQ chicken was very dry and had a musty taste and the meat was discolored. I haven’t been by this place in a few years and got a big slap in the face as to why I have stayed away. The people inside were nice and the service was good. Too bad the product is crap as it would have been nice to have a good BBQ place around here. Unbeatable!

Only giving a one star because there is no half or minus 1 star. I have not been back for years because it had declined so bad since moving in to the neighborhood 12 years. I think this is the third ownership at least that is what they say. Tonight We went in for brisket and sausage plate. I Put my order in and then they come back say no sausage. I ordered brisket and ribs. Both were reheated old and dried out. None of the food was hot so I sent it back to zap. The Mac and cheese and frozen French fries turned out to be the best part of the meal. Very disappointing. I so much wanted them to be decent, since they are so close to clear creek forest. The waitress tried hard and not her fault the food was so bad. Maybe there was a dozen people in there on a Friday night, so sad. I which them well, but seriously don’t think they will make it. It will be a good long time before I will go back unless they really open up under new ownership that has clue on how to run a restaurant. I get the impression this is a good old boy who probably does pretty BBQ, but not a business man. Sorry to be so hard but if you hear the truth, you will never get any better, if you survive

Great food. Wait was a little longer than usual but ok. Avoid Saturday’s at all cost if you don’t like karaōke. That was horrible. Everything else about the place was great.

I like«hole-in-wall» places & a friend lives close by so we went for CFS @ 5pm yesterday. Couple of tables occupied, only 1 waitress(great gal, friendly & professional). It did take our food a little longer than expected but we had our large sweet tea & chatting time. Ordered CFS w/mashed taters & corn & friend the same but w/green beans. Waitress came out later & said no corn so chose black-eyed peas. Food came out & it was VERY tasty! Regular size CFS had crispy crust that had very good flavor. You could tell mashed taters were fresh made w/chunks of taters still in it. Gravy good & black-eyed peas firm(fresh…couldn’t tell) but good. Texas toast to round it out. I ate the whole thing! More patrons came in before we left & poor waitress was swamped but announced to all that she would take care of everyone & thanked them for their patience. We did have to wait a little while to take care of bill & complimented her on her great attitude. She said Sunday’s are usually slow & while taking care of our bill, she was on phone begging someone else to come in stat! I guess sometimes that’s what happens in small establishments in small towns. I had no problem waiting for a good meal & I hope all the others who came in after us gave that place a chance & that waitress a good tip for her hard-earned effort. That won’t deter me from visiting again.

Good burger. Just a bit Leary after seeing the cook bring out my food. Hygiene didn’t seem to be on the top of his list. It really was good, but I kept thinking of the conditions it was prepared. I probably won’t be eating here again. There is a beer bar next door that allows smoking. So I fired up a stogie and knocked back a few with a a good beertender Coco.

Great people. Amazing food. A bit of a hole in the wall. But that’s my kind of pace. Food talked a little longer than, say, chilis. But even worth it. Just keep in mind this is a small town place not a chain.

Very disappointing. At least with the previous owners you got friendly confused slow service and pretty good food, now you get rude slow service with bad food. We should have left after being there for almost 5 minutes without anyone acknowledging our existence. We asked for menus and were told they were working on it. After ordering and waiting 30 minutes, we got our bland onion ring appetizer that I had forgotten we ordered. The waitress placed them on the table without a word and left– in her defense, she didn’t drop the basket on the table. Food got to us about 10 minutes later. My Cobb salad(6.99) was a small bowl of bagged lettuce with a little bacon and sliced avocados. When I asked if that was all there was to the salad, the waitress told me I could go to the salad bar and put whatever I wanted on it. Wow, thanks. My husband’s side of corn was not even luke warm. My son’s fries were almost luke warm. The service was some of the worse I’ve experienced. Had to go to the counter and wait for our overpriced check. No «hi!». No «bye». I guess they train their employees that if they don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Btw… This was our second visit there since the name change. The first we just wrote off to being new ownership. We thought that since they added Tex-Mex to the name, that their Mexican food was probably good– if you like cold Mexican food with no cilantro, onion, pepper, lime or tomato, then you might like theirs. We’ll give it a try when ownership changes again.

The Sawmill Grill is under new management. Well, you wouldn’t know it. Stopped in on Wed. Night to pick up an order to go since my wife was working late. First I ordered a french dip sandwich for my wife but 15 minutes later I was told they were out of Au Jus sauce. Then I ordered the enchiladas for her but they were out of refired beans(thank God). Finally I ordred a philly cheese steak for my wife and a taco platter(with frie instead of refried beans) for myself. I got the order, checked it and headed home where my wife was now waiting. As we prepare to eat I notice the phlly cheesesteak is on an overglorified hotdog bun with hardley enough meat to fill the bun. Then there was a single«slice» of melted provolone cheese stuck in there, two pieces of bell pepper and no onions. My wife took a bite. It was over cooked yet somehoe the bun was still refrigerator cold. My taco plate was worse. The taco shells wereout of a box, stale and broken. The meat was froma can and the seasoning was a $.39 packet of taco dust. The rice was colder than the philly cheesesteak bun and all 11 of the french fries were undercooked and mushy in the middle. Needless to say it was a waste of $ 20 and 45 minutes of my life. Also, I tried contacting the owner but the website is down, the waitress said he wasn;t in and didn’t know when he would be in and couldn;t take a message because someone took her pen. Great place if McDonald’s is closed and you ahve no other option!

We have been several times and I have always enjoyed the food. Friday nights is an all you can eat fried catfish buffet with salad bar and dessert. Saturday night is my favorite as they have a 15 oz steak dinner special with 2 sides for $ 15.99. The steak is always cooked and seasoned perfectly. I have not tried much else on the menu, but I have always been pleased with what was served. The wait staff is very friendly and will make sure you are taken care of well.

We wanted to really like this place. It is close enough to home and it is always good to find something that we can frequent. This isn’t a place we would frequent. The price vs the value is all over the map. A fried zuchinni appetizer was $ 6, but there was no more than 10 pieces in it. Even then the pieces were zuchinni and squash. Now the taste was actually awesome, but 10 very, very thin sliced squash/zuchinne for $ 6? The cheesesteak special was actually a good value and good taste. But the rest of the food was all very hit or miss. The staff were friendly. Just wouldn’t bother going back unless we were in a pinch.
