NTB-National Tire & Battery

I am so impressed with the friendly and helpful staff! I called them since they were near by and my battery had died. They came and jumped the car and I drove it over right away. They put in a brand new battery, filled my tires and had me out the door within 45 minutes! They all were friendly, helpful and explained everything to me. So impressed! I will be back!

I can’t see any validity to of all the negative reviews. I am extremely happy with the products and service. This is another place that made me feel good about the money that I spent, as I’ve said before that is a nearly an impossible task Thanks guys, I will be back for any future tire needs!

Just your average car place trying to make a quick buck and take advantage of females. I took my car for an oil change on Sunday and they called to let me know I needed a new battery among some other things and they just happened to have it in stock. This is strange because I just got a new battery a few months ago! I did not fall for their scam and left after waiting a little over an hour for an oil change on a non-​busy day.

I went here today looking to get new tires with their deal they have going (2 tires get 2 free). The price ended up being a little expensive and it would have been just as much as paying for all new tires anyways, what a deal.
But anyways the point of my review is when I went in there to get my quote, the man who greeted me (Peter) was SO nice and helped me with everything I needed, he was great. His boss was also in the same room as us and Peter was asking his manager questions and the manager treated him with such disrespect it disgusted me.
I’ve heard from other people not to go to this store BECAUSE of the manager. I’ve heard before that he was extremely rude. But I could not believe that he would treat his employee like that in front of other people (about 7 people total were in the room). It made me extremely upset and maybe if that manager left they would get more business (since he is obviously so well known for being rude to everyone). If I knew the managers name I would have written it but I have no idea he never even turned around so I could see his face.
So Peter I give YOU 5 stars for being extremely helpful and nice and giving me great customer service. I hope you read this and you go somewhere else where they respect your good work and your obvious want to help the customers. (The manager was disrespecting him because Peter said he wanted to help a customer by doing something they didn’t offer, but Peter STILL said he would do it for them. That is going above and beyond, great customer service.)

I spent over a $ 1,000 this year having had tires replaced on my cars and an oil change. They did a fine job on the tire replacements but they forgot to set the car’s service monitor after the oil change and I had to bring it back. No real problem as they did reset the monitor. Now when I brought the car back in for a brake fluid flush, the problems began. When my wife picked up the car she was told that they «may not have reset the the service monitor». If there was any problem then we should take it to the dealer with a copy of the sales receipt and have the dealer reset the monitor.
When my wife notified me of this and I verified that the service monitor was not reset I immediately called the shop. I was informed that the manager was on vacation (that was last week and I waited a week before writing this) and he would get back to me. I was told that their machine that reads the codes was malfunctioning and needed to be repaired. I asked whether another NTB would have this code reader and I was assured that they would check and get back to me. Of course no one ever did.
I went on line and ran a google search on resetting the monitor for my car and came up with the instructions to reset it. I followed the fairly simple procedure and reset the monitor. This is where my frustration had led me. If I could do this with a simple google search why couldn’t they? I feel that if they knew when they took the job that they couldn’t reset the monitor they should have told me this and given me the option of going someplace else or allowing me to see if there was anything I could do. Also, their lack of followup is quite frustrating. They have lost any future business I may have had. And even though they did a fine job on the tires, I will go elsewhere.

My husband took my car in to get two of my tires replaced after I had a blowout and hit a curb. They were polite and efficient and the car was done early for a reasonable price.
Two weeks later, I was back having the front tire repaired again after hitting a pothole. I used the road hazard warranty my husband had purchased (and I yelled at him for purchasing) but I was glad to have it. They replaced the tire for almost free and the car was done in a flash.

A little late on the finish time, but they stayed late and got it done. Nice guys doing a thankless job.

They get a 5 because they saved me a lot of time when everyone one else was either «too busy» or closed. Came in with 10 minutes before closing with a nail in my tire, they had a brand new one on and me driving home in 24 minutes. Not bad! Thanks for the help.

HEADS UP!!! They spiked the price for the oil change up to 34.95! It use to be 19.95. I have been doing NTB for 5 years from Dekalb to Hoffman Estates. Dekalb the first 3 then Hoffman the last 2. I always liked both. I don’t know why they spiked up the price. However 34.95 is an arm and a leg. The newer manager said that the 19.95 was a promotional or a coupon thing. That must of been a long promotion!!! I feel bad, but trying to save my money and I grabbed my keys from him. I still think they do a good job though. If it was 24.95 I would of still stuck around. But 34.95 is a huge spike man.

I went there about 8 months to have my brakes fix. I spent over $ 350 dollars, I kept bringing my car in to be fixed and was told nothing was wrong when I would hear the noises. I brought my car into another place and they looked at it and said it is the material of the brakes is what making the noise. They didn’t try to to sell me on getting new brakes but for amount of money I spent I could of gone to Pep Boys and got better brakes. I will never go to another NTB again especially this for all the time I took off of work and money spent.

I have been to most NTB locations from Merrillville to Hoffman Estates and I will say customer service and wait time at Hoffman Estates and Orland Park are 5 star! Merrillville in the game. Forget the rest! I was made aware of existing problems however, not hounded to fix with money I don’t have! Thank you guys!!!

Called em and told em money was a little tight and I needed the best price possible for 2 tires and 2 oil changes and they had the best price around. Charged me about the same price that discount tire wanted for just the tires ! Thanks guys.

Good place, I needed tires shopped around and these guys were competitive with pricing. Their customer service is outstanding!!! Great guys to deal with.

I had a leaking tire and needed to fix it fast. It was 7:30 and wanted to find a place before they closed. I stopped at two other car shops which both told me they could not help me so I went to NTB. I am so glad I did. The manager James Trout was amazing, I have not experienced customer service like that in a long time. I will for sure be back and tell others.

It’s pretty good place, was much better earlier but now it’s Ok. I had a bad experience today, I had an appointmnet and they were too busy to accomodate me and ending up cancelling, but in compensation they said they would give me some discount tomorrow.
But, I like this place, usually very prompt and friendly. Even more, the staff at garage are more friendly and nice. They revamped the entire place, near the counters.

NEVER IN MY LIFE will I ever purchase a car from Carmax ever again and I will continue to tell everyone I know until the day I die…
Nothing but problems with my car since the day I bought it that never get resolved. And the icing on the cake today was when they tried to charge me $ 119 just to LOOK at my car! (tire leak). Not including any necessary repair charges after they figure out what’s wrong with it!
So I ended up going to NTB On Golf Rd. In Schaumburg and they fixed it in 10 minutes, complimentary, after hearing about my horrible experiences at Carmax. Turns out it was just a nail in the tire.
It’s heartwarming to know that there are still good people in the world.

I went this place a while back for a simple oil change and felt the need to write a post to warn you to stay clear of this location.
After dropping my car off I received a phone call from NTB a little over an hour later letting me know that my oil change was complete, however their tech had discovered that my timing belt needed to be replaced and I had a leak in my water filter. Little did NTB know was I had just had my car inspected two weeks prior and that I have a family friend that does my major repair work and had just replaced my timing belt and water pump 4 months back.
I informed the shop that I had my timing belt recently replaced and they ensured me there was something wrong with my car and I would need to get it looked at immediately, which I informed them that I would go to my mechanic. Sure enough, the very next day my check engine light comes on, so I schedule an appointment with my family friend/​mechanic.
Well, naturally I dropped the car off to my mechanic and received a phone call from him letting me know that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my car. He also stated that someone had unplugged the O2 sensor and plugged it back in which will cause the check engine light to go on.
Personally, at this point I am royally pissed off at this place. I have never written a bad review about any place before however really felt the urge to express what a joke NTB Schaumburg is especially seeing that other people have had issues as well. This place is looking to make a quick buck. They may seem like they are trying to help you, however please stay clear for your own good!

Sunday was the first day of snow in the Chicagoland area. IDOT workers had a hard time keeping up with the constant accumiliation.
As my boyfriend and I pulled into the Walgreens Rx drive-​thru at Golf and Barrington Roads, we lost traction and slid into a curb. There was no damage to the curb, other cars or Walgreens and no one was injured; except for Jason’s front end.
After we picked up my prescriptions and pulled out of the drive-​thru lane, the Toyota’s steering wheel veered left to right and right to left.
My boyfriend went inside Walgreens and filed an incident report. I called his insurance company and started a claim. I also called 311 and asked for their advice about filing a police report.
The silver lining was to have NTB located literally across the street from where we were stranded. They are open until 6pm on Sundays and welcomed our walk-​in with a friendly disposition.
They have a clean waiting room to accommodate people like us with bathrooms, vending machines, drinking fountains and newspapers. NFL was on TV so that also helped pass the time.
There are choices for dining while you wait: Los Fernandez, Mariano’s and McDonald’s. Plan the day better and you can get a tan at the laundry mat.
NTB allows eating and drinking in the waiting room. It helps to clean up after ourselves so we don’t ruin the privilege for people who come here for service after us.
Jason had dented the rim and flattened a tire. For NTB replacing the rim, using the existing full size spare from his trunk and paying for labor, it cost us $ 99.00. That’s not a typo.
They really made a bad situtation good. We decided not to pursue our claim through the insurance or worry about being reimbursed by Walgreens.
NTB may have made us wait a long time for the repairs and realignment; but for the right price. I had to share the wonderful gift of peace of mind.

My husband and I knew exactly which kind of tires we needed for my car. We had done all of our research and decided on Goodyear Tires.
When we walked in, we were greeted by the manager, and we told him what I needed – Goodyear tires.
The manager stuck out his tongue and went TPPPPPPPT.
I’m sorry… did you just SPIT at me!!!
SERIOUSLY?!
Furthermore, they «recommended» that I needed new breaks, new serpentine belt, power steering fluid flush and coolant. My dad owns at oil change business (one that I have been working at since I was 14), so he knows cars – I brought it to him, and EVERYTHING was fine. Especially the brakes. NTB said they were «metal on metal» but they still had at least 30% left on them.
Against my better judgement, we still purchased my (GOODYEAR) tires from them. Two weeks later, I got a flat on one of them. They patched it two weeks later no problem. The «tire» light was on for two weeks afterward after they said it would go away on its own. I went back yesterday, they fixed it, and they said «oh we reset the tire light» ummmm why didn’t you do that before???
When we went back for all of this, the manager was there again. The manager wouldn’t help another patron – the patron wanted to test the battery of the motorcycle, and the manager had huge attitude. Then he yelled at my husband. He asked if he just called. He said «no». The manager then calms down and says «Oh, nevermind». WTF?! Maybe he thinks he’s funny, but it’s inappropriate.

Nice guys, good service, great prices.
Saved at $ 800+ off dealer price by using NTB to replace tires for my ’03 TT and ’09 A4 Cabrio. Ordered the Z-​rated tires online then having them drop shipped to NTB, then installed for $ 50 or so…
They repaired a flat for my current car, and now, everytime the TPS light goes off in cold weather, they check the pressure and add air for me. Done this 3x so far this winter… and dont have to wait long, if at all… usually out in 5 minutes.
My work wardrobe and I appreciate this service. Thanks NTB guys.
