Bridges of Poplar Creek Country Club

I chose PC for my ceremony because it is simply stunning. It was everything I had dreamed of for a ceremony location. I chose to have my reception elsewhere because I did not like the feel of the banquet room. After booking my ceremony, I immediately received a call asking why I didn’t book my reception there also. I felt slightly intimidated and pressured by that call. I requested to move my ceremony 30 minutes later but was told no, because that may impinge on their time for their next wedding (someone who would book ceremony and rehearsal. nothing had been booked yet) even though my ceremony only lasted 30 min. They supplied a «wedding coordinator» who swore in front of our Pastor and truthfully caused more chaos than «coordination». He confused the wedding party on when they should walk out and even told me to walk out before my song started. Luckily I did not listen. He was asked to help prep the table under the gazebo with props we needed for our ceremony and forgot to do so. I noticed as I was standing up front in front of everyone, which required me to spend my time thinking of how to fix this casually instead of listening to our Pastor. They supplied a rain backup plan which held 150 people when we had 200 guests. As we were leaving, they voiced their frustration to my parents that we did not alert them ahead of time that guests would be visiting their bar. Instead of praising us for bringing $$ to their bar, they complained. Since they only had one bartender. Sorry, but they had two weddings scheduled that day. you’d think they would know how to staff themselves accordingly. All our other vendors made us feel like a King and Queen. If it weren’t for the beautiful ceremony site, I would’ve taken my $$$ elsewhere.

Golf Course Review: Well kept course with GPS and well designed layout. The course has a large number of water hazards and challenging slopes. The scenery for the course might be the only flaw. You have suburban apartments and hospitals in the background of some holes. Overall, if you get a discount price online, it is well worth the 18 hole of this well designed course.

I played golf here for the first time.
As for the course-​Pretty narrow course with long first cut on the fairways when i played. Overall the course is in good shape for this time the year. The greens were a little rough and spotty. Overall a decent course to play. I like the difference in tees for different handicaps.
Staff at the pro shop was great and helpful.
Fees seem to be in line with the area.
I would definitely recommend.

So disappointed with this place. My husband wanted to go to a fish fry so not knowing of one in the area I came across this one from a Google search.
We arrived and two people at the host stand were talking. As we approached and stood there, they did not feel they should stop their conversation for us but continued it and then when they were finished they greeted us. I hosted at a restaurant for over 3 years, that is just not right.
So we found my parents and sat down. Unfortunately I don’t remember our servers name but she was a petite girl with dark hair and glasses. She was friendly and took our orders. First our salads came out and they were out of honey mustard dressing so my stepdad had to wait for his new dressing. Okay. Fine.
Then came the entrees. My husband and I got the beer battered cod and my parents got the fish of the day which was rainbow trout (that our waitress said was rainbow fish, like the children’s book was going to be their dinner). When the entrees came out, she brought out 4 beer battered cod. So my parents had to wait an extra 20 minutes for their entrees. There was no sense of urgency to getting them the right meal. My husband and I were almost finished by the time my parents got their food and our server didn’t do anything to compensate for the mix up.
The food was basic and the service was beyond horrible. We will not be returning to this «restaurant»

They completed renovations to this course a few years back. It has some holes that are challenging and make it fun to play. It is spread out nicely, which doesn’t make you feel rushed. The only reason it is not a 5 star course, is I believe it is a tad over priced. Other courses in the area offer the same quality for cheaper. I enjoy golfing it, but at the right price.

I attended a wedding at Bridges of Poplar Creek a few weekends ago and needed some time to digest before completing my review.
The wedding itself and all of the outside factors that went into it (guests, DJ, flowers, etc.) were all fantastic. The stuff that Poplar Creek runs (food & bev, etc.) not so great.
So, for Bridges of Poplar Creek as a wedding venue, its 2.5 stars.
The bride and groom chose to wed outside, and Bridges of Poplar Creek has a cute gazebo. However, there was NO rain contingency, at least not that we knew of, and it POURED during the ceremony. It started to thunderstorm about 2 minutes into the ceremony, and many guests scattered for cover. Bridges of Poplar Creek had a golf outing happening, and DIDN’T WANT TO LET US INSIDE. They kept telling us we couldn’t go through one of the two doors that led inside. I’m sorry but that’s just not right. It’s pouring rain and you have a herd of wedding guests, dressed in formal attire, RUNNING, you let them in, golf event or not.
Food: meh. Nothing really stands out as spectacular or memorable. I actually don’t remember the appetizers at all, and all I remember about the meal was that I didn’t think it was anything too great. I also got carded at the bar. Who gets carded at a wedding? Weird.
The wedding was fantastic and we all had a wonderful time. I just feel like BoPC could have done a better job.

Completely unimpressed with my entire experience for Easter brunch.
Greeted by a group of people who were chit chatting at the host check in desk. We stood there for a few minutes before we were acknowledged. When being seated we were brought to a table directly in front of the door. We asked to be put away from traffic and were moved to sit directly in front of the kitchen doors. Awesome.
This still wasn’t the worst part of our experience. Our server was an old timer who had some kind of chip on her shoulder. When we asked for drinks or anything her answer was always «uh huh» we weren’t even give the respect to be spoken to.
For an expensive brunch there really wasn’t much to choose from. Very small options. Food was cold even though they were on warmers.
The food wasn’t even that great. It was just standard. I mean I think ihop has better breakfast options. I would never come back here for anything nor will I recommend this place to anyone. It was just sucky. I wish we didn’t waste our time here.

I facilitated 3 workshops at this facility, in three of their different meeting rooms. Peter and the banquet staff are all very friendly and helpful. The lighting in the room is lovely and the space was great for our workshops.
The food was very good and served promptly. I would recommend this space if you’re needing a nice setting for a meeting or workshop.

Nice course. Way too expensive for what it is though. Barley any trees but some cool bridges. Can only drive cart on path. Schaumburg golf club 100 times better and is similarly priced.

Some nice aspects to this golf course but too many negatives to even give Poplar Creek three stars.
To begin, tee times were running 18 minutes behind schedule at 9am, likely due to overbooking of tee times or not spacing times far enough apart. Second, the golf course is just on too small a piece of property. Holes run very close together, par 3s were all very similar in length and set-​up, and greens were inconsistent in speed. A couple holes run adjacent to major roadways which detracts from the round, and large buildings can be seen throughout. The course website refers to the final three holes as the best ’round-​ender’ in Illinois. Bold statement, and simply untrue. The final three holes feel like they belong with the previous 15, and didn’t particularly stand out as anything special. While tee to green the track is in good condition, the golf course is simply not worth $ 67 dollars.
The men’s room had no towels of any kind, not even paper towels… just the overly powerful hot air dryers. Never mind maybe washing up a bit after the round. Lastly, we tried to enjoy mid-​afternoon lunch in the grille room, but three servers from the neighboring banquet room were polishing and rolling silverware at the table next to us. This doesn’t sound like much, but the grille room was rather quiet and this commotion and silverware being banged around was so loud we could barely even keep a conversation alive.
Bridges at Poplar Creek was simply not worth the price.

Played the front 9 here after work. Got there at 530, got 12 holes in for $ 25 with a cart, GPS YES.
The course is in great shape! Ball marks are on some greens but it’s well taken care of. I’d recommend this course for $ 50 or under for sure in the area as I really have no complaints about it at all except the ball marks on the par 3’s.

Great fall golf. Carts are electric and have GPS with scorecard feature. Well kept. I know it’s off-​season, but with such a warm day it would have been nice if the restrooms were open.

Attended a wedding just over a year ago at Poplar Creek. The ceremony was originally supposed to be on the golf course, which was absolutely gorgeous; lots of green and lots of colorful flowers. That day it rained, so they moved the ceremony inside.
The ceremony was terrible! It was poorly lit and performed in the room where the reception was held. A basic, white trellis was positioned on the dance floor and the guests had to sit at their tables. This wasn’t the couples fault, and Poplar Creek could’ve done a better job to make arrangements for rain-​outs.
The room was a typical banquet room, and I felt a little confined.
The food was below average. Typical banquet food: dried out chicken breasts with mashed potatoes that tasted boxed.
I had a great time as a guest, but with so many banquet halls in this price range throughout the suburbs, Poplar Creek isn’t really worth it.

Great deal if you want to get out on a weekday, and not too bad if you play early on the weekend, gets slow if you play it past 10am on a weekend
Having played it before and after the renovations, I’d say they did a nice job to improve the course, lots of comments about the long rough, I would agree the rough is deep and tough to hit a green with more than a 6 iron if you are in the thick, but that is one way they decided to challenge everyone off the tee, straight with the driver or fairway woods and a longer approach is how it plays
The weekday specials around $ 40 – 50 make it worth playing a couple times each summer, you can get on at 7am and be done by 10 to have the rest of the day, play at 10 and it will be much longer

Great job with the renovations. A ton of fun to play. The course makes you think, but is very enjoyable and definitely a fair test. I wish they would offer more coupons and deals, though.

What amazed me is how they could make so many changes and still have an unenjoyable golf course. It’s bizarre, because lots of things about the course are nice. There are a lot of bridges and water, and the holes are interesting. The fairways are nice enough, and the greens are true, although a little slow.
The course needs about a thousand more trees. They especially need the trees on the outskirts of the course to cover the 7 – 11’s, industrial parks, busy roads, and water parks. A part of the joy of golfing is some level of serenity. Poplar Creek — ahem, sorry «The Bridges of Poplar Creek» offers none of that.
The rough on this course is cut to ensure that any ball hit outside the fairway will be nearly unfindable by anyone using human eyes. Despite that difficulty and all the water, the course seems to be filled with people in denim hitting the ball sideways the whole time.
The changes do make the course nicer, and it looks like they’re still working on it. If you’re purely looking for challenging holes and lots of bridges, you might enjoy this. If you enjoy the ambience of golf, you most definitely will not.

I had a good time playing the links here. Its a pretty difficult course with no par 3 under 200 yards, and some doglegs towards the end of the course. I love courses that have the GPS in the cart, because I need to know exactly how far it is. The starter Julio was a very very nice man. It was great talking to him before the starting of the match.

Stunning course for the burbs. The first 9 are relatively straightforward and challenging but not professional-​athelete-​challenging. The back 9 are something EVIL! Water almost at every hole, dog-​legs, and narrow fairways. Luckily I hit pretty straight so it’s good for me but bad for anyone who slices!
Love the course. We got the GPS cart which is awesome! Always know your distance but ours was off by about 10 yards from the other cart with us so I’m not sure if you can completely rely on it.
I would definitely be back for a brat and a beer at the 10^th hole! Love the outdoor grill-​guy.

WOW there’s a lot of water on this course. Only 2 or 3 holes are completely dry, so make sure you bring some extra balls.
The course itself is very well kept. However the fairways are narrow and many greens are protected by multiple bunkers, so prepare for a challenge. There aren’t any cakewalk par threes (all 160+ and over water) but the par fours and fives are all relatively short.
It’s a tough course. Fortunately there’s a nice driving range to one side of the clubhouse to warm up at. All the facilities are pretty impressive, highlighted by carts that have GPS in them to show how far the pin and other landmarks of the hole are. Finally of note is the relatively impressive grill station outside the club house serving up standards with a surprisingly diverse and quality fixins bar. You can actually go to Poplar Creek expecting to eat a passable lunch in your cart at the turn.
I’ll definitely be back here… but maybe not until I can keep the ball straight.

Live pretty close so I’ve played this many times. The price is very fair for the challenge. It’s not a bomber’s course, so if you prefer hitting driver off every tee, this may not be right for you. That being said, it is a challenge, and I enjoy playing here, and will return often. The staff is great, and the range is pretty large with a short game area.
