Flip Flops

Made plans to get take out from here on a Saturday night. We were looking forward to trying their food and spending a gift card we had been given. After waiting 30 minutes for take out, we were told that they had accidentally given our food to another customer. We were also told that the wait for them to make our food would «be a while». No offer of drinks, or appetizers and nothing done to make up for the lack of our meal. When we asked to speak to a manager we were told that «it’s not like we wouldn’t do anything for you». Still no offer to do anything for us though… We took our business elsewhere and don’t think I’ll be going back to try it out a second time. Managers of restaurants should know how to offer good customer service without the customer having to ask for it… highly disappointed.

I was there this past Thursday for the first time, enjoying a great guitar player/​singer. I was looking forward to another set, and was very disappointed to see he was sent home early. There were many of us who were enjoying his music :(I will not return and will tell my friends the same.

Still the best pizza in town! Two thumbs up to that Italian kid back there spinning those pies! Best gourmet pizzas 5 stars!!!

Great local restaurant/​bar. Pretty good food, burgers are always good, they offer a bison burger too. awesome mac and cheese (you can get pulled pork or lobster over it). Friendly staff, good service. Outside seating in the Summer too.

I had a pizza when I went, it was actually pretty awful. I have heard good things though so I am planning on giving them another chance, but as of right now I was less than enthralled.

Hostess was unfriendly many empty tables waited over an hour for seating and then 1 hour and 15 minutes for food would not go back

Love Flip Flops. One of the best small town bars /​restaurants I’ve been to. Fun crowd, great food, and always fun!
If you are looking for casual dining and atmosphere, you can’t go wrong here!

During are visit there we did eat a burger and a hot sausage calzone. The burger was fine. Nothing that would make me go again. The calzone was very greasy and not a lot of sausage. I give it two star for the rest of the visit beyond the oyster incident but the overall is still 1 star.

I liked this place a lot. Our waitress was on point. Fast and friendly. Food was pretty good, can’t complain. I had the Harvest chicken. Nice place on a cold new England night, with a good beverage menu. I will definitely go back

I don’t get some of these reviews. I’ve eaten here 100 times and never had a bad meal. Great bartenders too, plus house drafts are only $ 2. They normally have great deals on oysters too. The pizza is one of the best around, I order the 4 pigs

a bit pricey, but i clear my plate every time i eat here.
the bison burger is top notch with a great sauce on it.
they have great fried pickles with cornmeal which are not overly greasy.
the prik rolls also another great app.
mac n cheese is amazing with crumbled cheezits on it.
the pizza is also very good.
outdoor seating in the fall/​summer.
nice beer selection and excellent mixed drinks by the bartenders.
would be 5 stars if not so expensive.
we still hit this olace at least twice a month.

My one star review is solely based on the value of the meal based on the price. I spent 15 dollars on a salad that looked like it was prepared within a few minutes and probably should have cost no more than a few dollars. Taste aside, very upset that I would pay 15 dollars for a salad that I could have made at home for a mere few bucks.
Will look elsewhere before going to flip flops

I wrote a review a few months ago because this place was awful, owner was a real jerk but it wasn’t posted. I got a burger and it was beyond awful, sent it back… Owner (Nick) came over and said what’s your problem… never took it off the bill… I asked about it and he gave me a real cocky grin and walked away…
I went back again this past week, thinking everyone has a bad day, etc… the place has been re-​done for more of a bar atmosphere. Friends got a meal and I got a pizza. Pizza used to be awesome, sauce has changed and the crust was soggy… My friends got Caesar salads and Salmon (I think, can’t remember) and said it was ok but didn’t taste «fresh». Servers were cranky and cater to the «owners friends or regulars». Place isn’t worth the visit, there are plenty of other great places…

ahhhh flip flops. The food is always great!, sometimes it’s a little cramped, but the staff always makes big parties work some how. I just love going here. Everything is good. My boyfriend loves the pizza, and lobster mac n cheese. I love to get oysters, jambalaya or the cheeseburger rolls. Paleo version (you should just cheat here, but if you insist on staying the course): order a salmon salad. the salads are a pretty good size with lots of stuff like avocados and artichokes. Get some oysters too. The most paleo drink is probably the Cactus Jack. I love that drink, but I’m pretty sure I was the only one ordering it, I had to make a special request because it wasn’t on the menu last night. Go to Flip Flops! its awesome. I’d give it five stars if it were a little more health friendly (but who wants that when they go out??)

I’ve always had a great meal at Flip Flops. A coworker and I found this place and come every Thursday for drinks and dinner and we have never been disappointed. We sit at the bar and the bartenders are wicked friendly and efficient, even when it’s busy, which it does get busy for dinner. The Caesar salad is delicious and sometimes we get chicken tenders on it (buffalo or the Asian flavored) and both are good. I had a pulled pork sandwich once which was delicious as well. Country music is always playing and the casual atmosphere is fun! Don’t think I would get anything but salads/​munchies or the pizza here. We see the pizza guy making them behind the bar and they look amazing! Meals may be over priced and not so good, but I haven’t tried them yet!

I’m editing my previous review of this restaurant, not because I was lying or that I am scared, but because there is enough drama in life, and I really do not appreciate the staff of Flip Flops sending me nasty messages on here. I apologize I offended you, because of my review, but in my opinion, your restaurant is disgusting, you service was ridiculous, and you messaging nasty messages is just proof of how unprofessional you are. Asp showing your maturity levels.
If anyone on Unilocal eats here. Good luck to you, if you have a bad night here as I did, don’t post it unless you want to be harassed. Again what I went through was not a lie. This was my experience, no matter how they try to deny it. I mean, who would admit to having such problems with their business in public.
Flip Flops, I wish you the best. Maybe some attitude adjustments and professionalism would go a long way for you.

We discovered Flip Flops over a year or so ago and now we come here for super every Thursday nite after our store closes late. Love the different seasonal menu items. The wait staff and bartenders are very accommodating and always helpful. The Crystalized Ginger Salmon is a great new addition, delish! The Asian wings are a regular on our table, always perfectly done. We try everything on the menu and have never had a bad meal. Our kids love the Mac & Cheese, Burgers and Oysters, great comfort food! The ribs are awesome and the tips perfect every time! The pizza chef is great and their pizza is the best around Holden! If you haven’t had the brownie sundae, oh my gosh don’t miss it! Defiantly the only dessert you need for a week!

My husband and I discovered this place about a year ago and were delighted. Love the ambiance because its cool and comfortable. We’ve been there a few times and never had a problem. The food is reliable and tasty

Looking for a new place to try we stopped at Flip Flops. perhaps it was an off day for all involved but this place just Flopped. There were many seats open, both bars and many tables. Whether the cook was on vacation or there was trouble in the kitchen I don’t know. it took close to an hour to receive our food. Burger and Oyster PoBoy. During that time we watched the pizza chef make several pizzas. He was swift and efficient and paid attention to details and cleanliness of his station. The man next to us ordered, received his pizza, ate it, left before we were even acknowledged by the server, stating the food would be out in a bit «we’re swamped». Both my husband and I looked around at the empty seats… HUH?
we watched the bus boy, runner, server, raw bar chef? prepare a shrimp cocktail… half way through he remembered to put on his gloves. The shrimp was in a «recycled» ricotta cheese container.
The build a burger was small, cowering in the bun. The extras of cheese and mushrooms added to the price considerably for the size of the burger. The PoBoy was okay. An extra side of PubStyle potatoes was inedible. Overcooked potatoes with a floury no flavor paste sauce.
The beer was cold and poured properly. The server did finally give us two free drinks, but only after my hungry anger blurted out that such a delay was unacceptable.
If we ever venture into Flip Flops again, we will order pizza.
