Terrible… Don’t waste your time. Ate here on Father’s Day with my brothers. Food was bland, service was slow, it was about 90 degrees inside and so humid the napkins were moist. Went to try again this morning. Several tables were seated with customers but door was locked. After being ignored for a minute, one patron said«they are closed» through a mouthful of their bland eggs. If you are closed, why no sign and why several tables full of dining customers???

I am a huge fan of this restaurant and I’m willing to make exceptions for occasional lapses in service or taste but today was a new experience for me. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy and we still had to ask for coffee refills. The toast was barely warm, and not toasted like it used to be, and the potatoes were somewhat raw. There was a young man cooking, who could probably use some support to improve upon that. The food came missing some of what we ordered, but by that point it was clear the waitress wasn’t paying attention to us as much as her phone so we just let it go. Also, the waitress not only insulted all the meat eaters in the place by explaining loudly how she thought meat was gross and meat eaters were fat but she also made a scene about having accidentally touched one of the diner’s meat when she served it. All of the coffee(decaf and regular) were in the decaf carafes. We didn’t mind but what happens if you cannot have caffeine? It’s pretty much a crap shoot. Usually there are teens working here but they are professional; today was an anomaly. We will give it one more shot but if this is where it’s headed, sadly, we may have to find a new place to go for brunch. It’s entirely possible to be a teenager who is professional and attentive in service, but they need direction and some management. That seemed lacking today. It’s unfortunate.

Nice upscale diner. You can tell the owner is passionate about the business. I’ve only been for breakfast but it’s always cooked just right. Service is attentive but not intrusive. Fantastic breads and fresh bacon. The competing diner just north on «Rt 122» serves rancid old bacon cooked ahead and reheated. Only issue is the fixed stools at the counter. I would rip them out and replace with movable bar stools.

Love this place. Has a nice comfy, home feeling. We always feel welcome at the Spa! Food is delicious, especially the thick cut French toast. Also has ice coffee all the time(even in the winter which is hard to find!!) husband had corned beef hash with poached eggs topped with hollandaise sauce, he said it was amazing. I didn’t try it so I’ll take his word for it, but he practically licked the plate…

I really wanted to like this place. I was staying at a friend’s house nearby and usually seek out the local establishments for breakfast(I love small businesses). It is very small and would would say more cramped than cozy. I sat at the bar which was very cramped. The stools were way too close together. I sat there for at least 20 minutes while the waitress masterfully ignored me from a distance of 3 feet. She didn’t even bring me a coffee. The guest next to me offered his newspaper for me to pass the time. Once I finally got service, it was OK. Attitude of the wait staff was tepid. MyBacon was large but not crispy(I like mine crispy). An OK breakfast at a cramped establishment with sub-par service. I’d seek out better.

We live locally and go here often for breakfast. It is a great little place with a cozy and friendly atmosphere. Home made hash is very good. Friday evenings, BYOB and have a comfortable dinner out. I had one of the best Filet Mignon’s ever a few weeks ago from the specials menu. Service has always been friendly and attentive.

I’ve had to modify my review from 2011. This place has gone downhill. You never know if they will be open.

Love the Spa! We walk here for breakfast quite often– have gotten many menu items– french toast and pancakes are both fantastic, bacon and sausage are always tasty, and eggs are yummy cooked every way I’ve had them. Home fries have been a little inconsistent– sometimes they are cooked to perfection, other times not so good. Service is always super friendly, and the place is very laid back, low key.

The Holden Spa is a great little place to eat. It’s super comfortable to be in. It’s like some friends invited you over for a meal. This weekend(Sat) morning, I opted for the Crabby Carla which was poached eggs on crab cakes on english muffins topped with hollandaise. I was surprised to find that the crab cakes were made of fake crab but actually tasted really good. I’m not a huge fan of imitation crab meat but the sweetness of the meat along with the breading and peppers and onions in the cakes went very well together with the rest of the benedict. The homefries were meticulously cubed potatoes that I believe were deep fried and quite good. I meant to ask if they were hand chopped or bought that way. If they were hand chopped, kudos to the knife skills of whoever chopped them. My partner got a build your own omelette with fresh mushrooms, bacon, cheddar and red bell peppers. It was very good but she ended up picking out the red bell peppers. A little red bell goes a long way. There was enough taste from them to be good without even having to eat any of them. Her wheat toast was a bit burnt, which I noticed to be the case with many people’s toast but she said it tasted good anyway. The only downside is the parking. We parked on the street and saw a sign for off-street parking but couldn’t find it. It gets really busy and the handful of street spaces just isn’t enough. Keep circling until you find a spot or look for the off-street parking-it’s worth it!

I went in to the Holden Spa for Breakfast on a Saturday morning. It was busy. I ordered 2 scambled eggs, toast, home fries and coffee. My eggs had garlic, and chives in them already,(not listed on menu) and the homefries tasted peppery, like a taco/tobasco cross, or similar. Coffee was way too strong. It took about 8 creaamers to make barely palatable. My bill came to over $ 12, with no meat, this was outrageous. Very Small, complained to waitress about the food, and she just shrugged, did not offer to fix, though waitress was friendly. I will probably not go back.

I love the Holden Spa. The atmosphere is like that of a small-town café, because that’s exactly what it is. The omelets are always perfectly fluffy, their French toast is amazing. Sometimes service can take a bit long, but that’s because they’re usually quite busy.
