I came here twice under the previous owner and it was truly terrible. I never returned and never planned to. Then while attending a wedding last weekend, I was surprised to see Dickey’s catering it. The chopped brisket, turkey and polish sausage were delicious and moist. Also, the mac and cheese was the bomb. Last night we had some people over before attending graduation and ordered an mess of meat. Jalapeño cheddar sausage, chicken and ham were very good as well. One more thing, order extra rolls, they are very addictive and seem to disappear quickly. Keep up the good work!

In this podunk town, it’s always good to see another food option show up. Have had Famous Dave’s in Gilroy cater work lunches many times. Love the BBQ ribs and potato salad, but pricey. Then, Dickey’s came to Hollister. Had them cater a work lunch. Ribs are good. Sauce is not quite as good as FD’s, but close. Cooked nice so the meat fell off the bone when I bit into it. Like their chicken way better than FD’s. Potato salad was terrible. Two bites and stopped eating. I’ve gone there a dozen times and get the ‘single meat’ meal with two sides for about ten bucks(no drink), to go. Love the waffle fries when they season them properly. Usually hit, some miss. Found something that works, so I’ll keep going back.

I usually don’t complain or give bad reviews but in this case I’ll make an exception, I was hesitant to go here but today I decided to give it a shot! And let me tell you that the food was cold except for the Mac n cheese that was good but ribs and brisket where cold and tasted funny. Never going back to this place ever! Now let me go back to the bathroom.

My most recent visit found the business under another manager and they have let their food quality slack a bit. I had the Tuesday special, three ribs, which had very little meat on the ribs. Not my recommendation for this business. Service was ok, but the place was fairly empty at 12:30, which is not a good sign for«lunch rush» during the week. As you walk in there used to be an area roped off for a line to order. That was removed and now there is a huge empty area almost one half of the eat in area which is empty. Put in some tables and improve the look of the place. It would help the ambience, since there is none now.

This location has gotten much better. The food was hotter than usual and this is a comparison from 2 recent visits. I had the spicy sausage, baked potato casarol and Cole slaw. All yummy, good portions and great temperature. We also ordered the turkey sandwich, baked potato casarol and max and cheese. All was yummy, good portions and great temperature! Customer service was spot on.

The BBQ meat and the sauce was nothing special but it was quick and easy. The deal of the Day was worth it.

Finally went to check out this place. It was good. Not great, but good. Reasonable pricing. I would probably eat here again someday.

This place has become a joke… Twice we have gone in for dinner and each time they do not have what we order. The first time we ordered pulled pork and Cole slaw and were informed they where out of Cole slaw some excuse about a catering job had taken it all. Tonight gave them the benefit of a doubt and waited in line for 10 min to order because he was having to substitute the peoples order in front of us(out of whatever they ordered) went to order our potatoes and guess what no potatoes. Its not like it was the end of dinner time it was 5pm he just didn’t have any. We will not be back, have not been to such an Ill prepared restaurant ever. At least they are consistent. What BBQ place runs out of Cole slaw.

I had the Quarter Plate for dinner for $ 8.95, which came with two pork ribs, 2 sides, a roll, pickle and onion slices. First off the ribs were cooked perfectly; however whenever I took a bite where the spice rub or «crust» was thickest the extreme saltiness was a turn-off. The sides I chose were the green beans and bacon(too salty, overcooked, and just a smitter of teeny-tiny bits of bacon fat), and potato salad, which was mushy with dill and tasted pretty ok. My daughter had two sides, the Mac N Cheese, which you would probably like if you were 9 since the cheese is processed(velveeta like) and the Potatoe Casserole, which is the best dish we ate and is basically yummy, everything-and-the-kitchen sink smooth mashed potatoes. I wont go there again unless desperate for ribs.

The meat was fresh and tasty… Great service and FREE ice cream Cone or a cup with every purchase daily but… the side dishes look like they have been pre-canned and everything was way too overpriced for fast food

I’m a huge fan of this place I love their BBQ the only thing is get there early because towards the end of the night they’re low on stuff but that’s because everything is made fresh

A firm ‘middle’ review. Dry brisket, some fat is necessary to give it flavor, this was too lean and a bit dry. The sides are excellent and many to choose from. I would stop here again. Friendly service and staff.

Not a fan! Why is the name Dickey’s bbq pit… when they don’t grill anything… its smoked. I tried the turkey. Took 2 bites. disgusting! Will not be returning.

Chain BBQ just doesn’t compare to home style BBQ but this is a good alternative. There are many options to choose from under $ 10. The $ 8.99 daily special includes choice of two sides, a roll, and a large refillable drink. The meat selection changes daily. I recommend ribs on Tuesday. The baked potato casserole is the tastiest side. Fried okra is also tasty. Meat plates start at approximately $ 9.95.

It was seriously the worst BBQ I had ever had. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and my bf had roast beef, they were both served to us very cold. The potato salad was Inedible, so disgusting… the only good thing we had were the fries, as those were hot and fresh. Maybe I just have eaten at a lot of BBQ places so I have something to compare this place to…

Where should I start… First time I came in was on my birthday, I wanted to check out this new bbq place since I love bbq. This was in august and we came during lunch hour so it was pretty packed but we still decided to order and eat. I got the 3 meat plate with Sausage, chicken and pulled pork, waffle fries and bbq beans. It was delicious! It seems pricey but its not. its actually pretty affordable for all that good food. After that we started coming once a month on Sundays(kids eat free on sundays) and we have had great customer service and great food. My oldest(5yrs old) Loves the giant baker with meat, she wont even share with grandma(grandma gets her own which she loves) My youngest(2yrs old) Loves the nuggets and waffle fries.(and the free ice cream) My husband loves their(turkey) sandwiches.($ 5 Special-AWSOME!) I personally love it all! Giant baker with pulled pork, ribs, brisket, chicken, turkey. I still haven’t tried everything on the menu but I have no complains. Im sure everything else is delicious. Now its a weekly visit to Dickey’s BBQ Pit. Shout out to Dawn & Desiree you guys rock! thanks for the awesome service :)

Blegh. So, a few things: 1. The plexiglass between the servers and the customers really makes ordering impossible. Having to repeat yourself 3x(and then send it back when it’s wrong) is rather irritating. 2. Food… where shall I begin. So, since you get to see the entire setup, it’s essentially servers grabbing small portions of food from pre-wrapped baggies. Then slowly(and I mean SLOWLY) making its way down the line of servers. Needless to say… NOT hot. 3. All of the sides come out of bags. Mac & cheese has the neon quality of Kraft MacN Cheese, and is about as gluey. 4. By all that’s green and fuzzy, stay away from the hot links & cheese. Just… bad. It’s a shame, I wasn’t a huge fan of Mavericks, and I was hoping to get some good BBQ in town. You’d think that in an area such as this, there would be some good options. However, this is NOT it. It’s just a «We’ve been around forever!» chain, with really unappetizing food.

Juicy & tender meats, buttered toasted buns. Wish sides weren’t from a bag(saw mashed potatoes being liberated from sealed plastic bags, unfortunate). A little long wait in line but you get your food right then and there so it’s understandable. Woulda ordered online but it was down :( Yummy free soft serve included is a plus! We’ll be back!
