If I could rate this place 0 stars, I would. I know mariscos and this wasn’t it. To begin, when entering the restaurant, there was no one to be found, no one to greet us, and no one to seat us. We decided to sit at the booths in the front near the bar where pesky flies decided to also come to hang out. I ordered a ceviche tostada and fish tacos which are basics that I order at every Mariscos restaurant. Based on this, you can tell quite a bit about some of there other seafood dishes. The tostada was not great. The shrimp was chewy and veggies were soggy. From this, I could tell this was prepared long before hand and was sitting for quite some time. The tacos were the low point of the visit. By far, the saddest fish taco that has ever crossed my plate. I wouldn’t serve this to myself if i was making tacos at home. It was small pieces of fish, topped with coursely chopped onion, lettuce, and tomato. No lemon wedges on the side, no salsa, no guac, no kind of any special sauce. Extremely disappointing. It was a dry tortilla topped with fish. That’s all it was. Once I was ready to pay, the waiter who was also the bar tender, the server and cashier asked if I had cash because they couldn’t take card at the moment. He ended up calling the second restaurant at another location to charge the card. I rate this experience and food a 0. Perhaps if I’m ever desperate for seafood again in Hollister, I might try a different dish and hope that it isn’t terrible. But slim chances, we’ll see…

Came to this place when it first opened and honestly it was great, in my opinion the best in Hollister. My wife and I loved this place. The food was good and fresh and the drinks were off the hook. Quality seemed to diminish just a bit as I came back a 2nd and 3rd time, but this time… oh boy! Waitress was super slow, chips were old and stale. Rice and beans were also old and not even reheated all the way. Shrimp cocktail was pretty bland, even after doctoring it up. The drinks tasted like the just poured a whole bottle of tapatio into a beer. Sad to see something that started out good go out so bad. Won’t be coming back, RIP El Kora.

The flies here are no joke. They will attack your at whatever cost. I am originally from Tepic, Nayarit and was excited to see a restaurant from my region. I ordered the mojarra frita $ 6 special. It tasted fine. The beans were not fresh. The salsa was good on the spicy side, which I appreciate. My friend ordered the special of fish tacos. She asked if the fish was breaded and the server said it was grilled. She was served a breaded fried fish taco. The server had no skills, she never even checked if I needed more lemon. I probably will not return based on service alone.

Came in to this place for the second time, always being optimistic and giving a second shot… disappointing. Waitress was slow, took drink and food orders from large party that came after us, placed order and food came nothing like it was being advertised, beans were old and cold, rice looked and tasted as if it had been reheated a few times, see my picture above of camarones al mojo de ajo; food was dropped off and waitress never came back around. Service and food is subpar, spend your money elsewhere.

Walking into a Mexican seafood restaurant with no ocean in sight is always a scary proposition, so we all decided to bypass the ceviche and grab the cooked items on the menu– the fish tacos and shrimp empanadas. I have faith that our food was cooked fresh because it took quite a long time to get to us– we stuffed ourselves with chips before it arrived. Also everything we tried was really great– the tacos, the empanadas, the chips, the salsa, and the guacamole.(Word to the wise, the $ 7 guacamole is HUGE) One tiny downside is that on a hot day the flies are really attracted to the cool dining area– I think a screen door would be a good investment. This particular Hollister location has run through a lot of mexican restaurants– I hope this one fares better. G’luck!
