When the weather is nice, this is a great place to stop. Don’t let the drive down a dusty road deter you, Guerra Family Cellars has an adorably rustic tasting room on a beautiful piece of property, and most importantly, the wine is delicious. We tasted two Viogniers and four red wines: two Petite Sirahs, a Malbec, and a Blend called Three Sisters. We left with a case of Petite Sirah and a couple of bottles of Malbec. In addition to wine, you can taste the family’s olive oil and flavored walnuts. It’s a great place to bring a picnic lunch too. Oh, and check out their summer concert series. They have an amphitheater and bring in some fun bands.

This was a hard place to find but a real gem. It was super rustic and it was literally in a barn. I absolutely loved the décor as you can see from all the pictures I took of the tasting room. Guerra Family Cellars also makes their own olive oil line and it went fabulously with the bread they served. I enjoyed the different wine varietals but thought the pricing was on the high side. Some of their wines was a little too spicy for me but they won several awards for their Viognier. If you are ever in Hollister, CA and in the mood for some vino check out this spot. It is adorable!

What a wonderful accident… A recent tryst into the countryside of Hollister has procured this amazing discovery. This place really needs more Unilocal-ing as we only discovered it by chance — mentioned by a random sommelier from another winery we visited. The road that leads to the tasting room is a bit sketchy, full of bumps and turns and unpaved goodness for an off-roading enthusiast. Known more for the olives, Guerra has started to make their own vintage and as such produced one of the best value Petite Sirah I’ve ever tasted. The 2008 vintage has won them a silver award and rightly so.
