It is very rare to have this low an opinion of an owner of a company. When there were problems with my move, the owner got nasty for no good reason. This move was a disaster.

I am disappointed to say I feel like I got scammed by this company. I rarely, if ever, make critical reviews, but as time has gone on, I have gotten more and more upset about my experience, which prompted me to write this review.
First, allow me to preface by saying my estimate was done over the phone, so I knew it might be off some. I was given two movers for an estimated four hours. This was pretty typical of what I was getting from other moving companies as well, some of whom did more extensive estimating. I was moving from a three bedroom apartment (only two of which had any furniture) into a house 3 miles down the road, and as an experienced mover, I had all of my furniture disassembled the night before and all my 30 boxes in the garage ready to go. So when they called me and requested to come two hours earlier than scheduled, I was able to accommodate them. The two movers they sent were very nice and respectful and took care of my belongings, which I’m grateful for. However, they took an exorbitant amount of time to do the job. It took them nearly two hours to load the truck, partially because one of them spent 20 minutes disassembling a piece of furniture that didn’t need disassembling (I didn’t notice it until midway through). They reassured me that that was the longest part of the process and once they got to the house, it would be a quick upload. Because they came earlier in the day, it was lunchtime when we were finished with the apartment and going to the house. They asked to stop to pick up lunch somewhere, which I obliged, thinking I wouldn’t be charged for that time (wrong!). Once at the house, it seemed the wind got knocked from their sails and they were moving really slow. I would see one at a time, which I just figured was because one was unloading the truck, but retrospectively, I think was just a poor use of time. It took them 5 HOURS to unload my belongings into the house (again, two bedroom apartment worth of stuff), partially because they kept talking breaks (one kept taking bathroom breaks but was on the phone) and personal calls. So my four hour estimate turned into a 7 hour job.
I expected the actual time to vary from the estimate (again, I’ve moved many times so this isn’t my first rodeo), but not by three hours. Friends who helped me move fragile items over the night before were shocked, given the amount of stuff I had, that it even took them the estimated four hours. When the one guy called the owner to go over the cost, he tried to shave 10 minutes off my time (partially because he had actually stopped ten minutes prior, but ran to the bathroom and took a break before calling the job in) and the owner refused the ten minute cut. This really rubbed me the wrong way, especially given that they had taken a half hour lunch break and at least a half hour’s worth of five minute breaks throughout the day. I don’t know if it was because I was so easy going or what, but I definitely feel like I was taken advantage of and it cost me $ 300 more than I had budgeted for the move (and this was even after I was flexible enough to allow them to come 2 hours early!). The kicker is that I moved to Wilmington from Chicago last year and that move actually cost me less than this move did. To put that in perspective, a 950 mile move was less expensive than a 3 mile move. That just doesn’t make sense to me. I could see if I was disorganized or needed them to disassemble/​reassemble furniture (or even had a LOT of stuff), but I didn’t. So unfortunately, I definitely don’t recommend this company, unless you don’t mind throwing away money.

I’ve used this company a total of 3 times… Work has been efficient and done within the estimated time allotted. I have no issue recommending them to others in the area.

Absolute did a fantastic job with our recent move. They carefully wrapped, some pieces were double-​wrapped, the furniture and appliances. I was very impressed with the care they took with our home goods and the fact that they were very aware and careful of the walls, stairs and railings. They completed our move in a very timely fashion, without a ding or nick. Our closing date when purchasing the home was a moving target and Absolute stayed very friendly and flexible every time I had to call to reschedule! We would recommend Absolute Moving to everyone!
