I think this place is great. I love the filet and scallops. I have never had a bad meal here. Service has always been good.

Stopped here for lunch with my mother when we went out to do errands. I will begin this with saying that one of the main appeals of this sushi and hibachi restaurant is that it is a five minute drive from my home, and conveniently located next to a grocery store and other little shops. Hence the main attraction about this place is its location and relative affordability. The restaurant itself seemed very cleanly. The service was polite and friendly. However, our server in particular seemed slow to take our orders whereas other servers were more attentive. The menu itself isn’t too extensive, so finding something we wanted right away only to have to wait ten minutes for our server to come back was a bit tiresome. What you will find on the menu is standard hibachi dishes, westernized rolls, tempura, and some common apps like wontons and spring rolls – nothing too exotic but it covers the basic fare. She ordered the chicken hibachi(~$ 9) and I got a dragon roll(~$ 15). Her order came out first, and well, my order was not served to me until about 15 – 20 minutes after her entrée had arrived. The restaurant was not busy so I thought the wait was a little awkward, although the server apologized to me for it. I just hate having to eat when the other people in my party are essentially finished with their meals. It made me feel rushed. My roll was cutely styled to look like a dragon(more like a caterpillar though.), and the taste was fine. Yet I felt the $ 15 price was a bit high. It’s a shame that they don’t offer any particular lunch specials, as other sushi restaurants around this area often have, like discounted lunch portions or BOGO maki roll deals. This restaurant is okay if you’re in a pinch and have a sushi or hibachi craving. Just keep in mind that you’re paying for average fare and if you want something of higher quality then there are better choices.

I have been going to Kobe for over 6 years. The food is excellent(hibachi and sushi) and always consistent! I will continue to be a loyal customer since they have NEVER been a disappointment.

I liked it! We ordered the crab wontons, a crunchy spicy roll, and four hibachi dishes. The hibachi dishes at dinner come with your choice of miso or house soup, and a salad with either ranch or ginger dressing. The crab wontons were really good and I absolutely loved the crunchy spicy roll! The ranch dressing was well-recieved by my friends but I really did not like the ginger dressing. Both the miso & house soups were really good. The white sauce didn’t have a lot of flavor. The hibachi dishes were alright! I enjoyed the rice but the veggies and meat come cooked in teriyaki sauce which was not very good. We did like that the drinks come with crushed ice! The owner was nice too and gave us some lemons that we requested :) I would come back for the sushi.

When we first dined here 6 years ago the hibachi was good. It was simple. No show just tasty food served fast. Then slowly it got worse and worse. Soon what you got was steamed vegetables with the sauce thrown on top. SUPERSWEET sauce at that. It was as if they stopped trying. And you can’t blame them because people seem to like it enough to keep coming back. It’s not hibachi by any stretch of the imagination. So I moved on to the sushi because there was nowhere else for sushi at that time. It was always underwhelming. When HT opened in Holly Springs and their sushi was better I knew I needed to stop frequenting this restaurant. The owners are super nice and the staff is touch and go depending on who you get. Yes, the prices are very low but you get what you pay for. But if you don’t mind then it’s a clean place and there is nothing horrible about the place. It’s just, in my opinion, not a good hibachi and sushi place. I will say their ginger salad dressing is super gingery and yummy.

My husband and I come here for sushi and hibachi, since this is right across the street from where we live. We usually get cheaper rolls and share a hibachi dish. The food and ambience is fairly good. The hibachi steak comes with a lot of food, steak and veggies, but it’s also quite a bit pricier than other similar places. I enjoy coming here for convenience and good food.

First of all, don’t believe the posted hours. We showed up at 9:15 and it was so closed that the staff had all gone home. We tried again the next night showing up around 8:30ish and witnessed people being turned away as they were again«closed» before 9:30. The service was okay I guess. Had to ask for chopsticks as they only brought us forks(yeah, I’m white, great, so are you Mr Waiter, now bring me the proper utensils, without being asked would have been nice), and had to ask for refills on the green tea. Otherwise he was attentive and got the order correct. The ambiance was decidedly poor, but I’ve had great food in crummy little holes in the wall before, so I didn’t let that scare me off. The food was decidedly mediocre though. It was like someone had tried sushi and thought they could teach themselves how to make it with a few clicks through google. The salmon sashimi tasted fine, but the way it was cut was decidedly amateur(very uneven thickness). The«Oh My God» roll inspired nothing more than a «meh»(maybe if you were a sushi virgin, though even then I think this would lead you more in the direction of «well I guess I just don’t like sushi» than some sort of epiphany). The«spicy» in this roll was decidedly absent and the sauce they’d drizzled over it was actually kinda gross, and like someone else mentioned, it was served warm, so the fish inside wasn’t cold. Not a deal-breaker for me if the flavor had been there, but it just wasn’t. They did provide us with a little bowl of ice(???) I guess we were supposed to cool our own rolls??? I’m still a bit baffled by that one. Especially as the ice arrived well ahead of the sushi and was melting and getting watery by the time the sushi showed up. I don’t think making the rolls soggy would have improved them at all. The tempura was also just not quite right. The batter wasn’t light, it was heavy and greasy and overly crunchy, and the shrimp inside was tough because it was so overcooked. And like others have mentioned, it seemed to have been done in 2 different types of batter, the yam, carrot, zucchini and mushroom looked«right» while the shrimp and broccoli did not. Salad was over-dressed(you shouldn’t have 2 tablespoons of dressing left in the bowl when you are done). Terriyaki sauce just tasted a little off. I mean it was okay, not«off» like it was going to kill us, but not as good as we’ve had elsewhere. I’ve even had better miso and edamame(they used table salt on it, like really, this dish is definitely playing on easy mode and you still couldn’t nail it?) There wasn’t anything that made me want to demand my money back, or declare my evening ruined, just nothing that was good enough that I’d want to eat it again. We won’t be back and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Just had a nice dinner here with my wife and son. The maki rolls were really good. We had a chicken and steak hibachi meal too. Very good and very reasonable. This is a nice find for reasonable sushi!

The food here is good and I recommend it! The hibachi is much better than anywhere else, and they give you a huge plate of it. The sushi is probably the best I’ve had in this area, but it’s a bit pricy. They do have specials on the sushi, but it’s odd because they are only good certain days and times. If I were eating just sushi, I’d probably go to Tasu in Cary instead, but for Holly Springs you won’t find better!

Wow. I have gotten better sushi from grocery stores. After looking over their strange list of available rolls(a bunch of which had lettuce in them?) I hesitantly selected the Eel Avocado Roll and the Crunchy Shrimp Roll. The first wasn’t too bad aside from the very tough Nori, but the second was terrible. It was shrimp, a large amount of tempura flakes, more tough nori, and a huge dollop of mayo on top. Not spicy mayo or wasabi mayo, just a teaspoon of mayo atop every single piece. I also ordered tempura shrimp, which seemed to have been done in two separate batches. The vegetables(broccoli, mushroom, sweet potato, carrot, and zucchini) were what I usually expect from a tempura order, even if some of them seemed a bit soggy. The shrimp and one lone onion ring, however, were more what I would expect from a fast food place. They were very greasy and not at all tempura. The whole meal was very strange. It certainly wasn’t worth the $ 21 dollars I paid. Also they seem to have wifi, but my server said he was not given the password and told me to use the wifi of the place next door.

We have been going since they opened and have never once been disappointed. The sushi is really good and the tempura vegetables are delicious! My kids love the ready made chop sticks! Our favorites are the NC Roll, the spicy tuna roll and the Philadelphia roll. I also love the gyoza, the pork dumplings, super yummy. I hope they stay in business forever, they are so close by and love them!

Am in NC for the week staying with my grand kids. Saw this Sushi Bar to stopped by tonight for some take out. Got a Green Dragon roll — very good along with a Philly and Spicy Salmon. All rolls were top notch. Ordered also 4 Tuna Sushi and 4 Salmon Sushi — Fantastic — Fish is fresh and rice was just right. Even took pictures so my son and his wife can see what great presentation went along with the great Sushi. Lou — visiting from Delaware

I’ve been pleased every time I’ve had lunch or dinner at Kobe. I’ve had the sushi, stir fry and tempura. The staff and owner(manager?) Have always been helpful and pleasant. The Tempura batter is a bit thick at times, but that’s the only thing I have to say critically. The stir fry is great and the sushi is fresh. I think I could eat the crunchy spicy roll 3 times a week. I would definitely recommend!

My family and I dying here often and are never disappointed at the quality of the food. The quality of the sushi for a restaurant located in a strip mall rivals the quality of sushi I’ve had in Japan! The owners I’m very nice and always greet you when you come in the door and if you dine there enough they usually will ask you if you want your usual order before you sit down. I highly recommend this small town restaurant!

We’ve been here several times and the food is ok. Spicy tuna roll is good, volcano roll is impressive looking and tasty, but a little overdressed with the rich sauce. My hibachi vegetables were overcooked and a little oily. I do not recommend anything fried. One child’s gyoza was a little greasy, another child’s tempera veges were a little bland and greasy. We may come back for sushi, but that’s about it.

Came here with my parents for a Sunday afternoon lunch. Seated right away in a very clean, organized restaurant. Server was polite and attentive. Bar area with TV but not noisy. They have a huge selection of sushi. I ordered the lunch special(unitl 2:30) and ordered 2 rolls for $ 8. It was fresh and filling. Presentation of food was nice. Prices are reasonable.

Pretty good sushi and sashimi, especially for being tucked away in Holly Springs. My girlfriend and I shared the sushi & sashimi combo platter, which was very tasty, fresh, and a nice presentation, as well. Our friends had the seaweed salad(which they raved about), a BBQ eel roll, and the Green Dragon roll, which was made up in the shape of a dragon, complete with wasabi snout and salmon roe eyes. Really cute! The miso soup is good, but not memorable. I haven’t tried the hibachi yet, but I intend to do so next time. Service can be spotty at times, as most of the servers are pretty young and seem to be just learning their job. All-in-all, not the best Japanese restaurant you’ll ever go to, but definitely worth the money, especially for not having to drive to Cary or Raleigh.

We had high hopes for this place based on the reviews. We were out in Holly Springs at a brewery and wanted to get some sushi. We walked in around 8:15ish on a Friday night. The place was pretty busy, we were told a table was being cleaned off and it would only be a minute. We were sat directly outside of the bathroom and as soon as we sat down we smelled a strong«air freshener» scent. After I used the restroom I realized they had SEVERAL in there and over the doorways… it was pretty nauseating and we asked to be moved and were moved to a booth closer to the front. The service was very good, very friendly and accommodating. We ordered a cucumber and«crab» salad to start, it was alright, the cucumber could have been sliced thiner for easier eating with a pair of chop sticks, but it had a light teriyaki sauce over it. For dinner we split four sushi rolls and while I cannot remember the specific names it was; a bagel roll fried, spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, and another tuna roll. When the sushi came out we couldn’t help but question what type of sauce was on some of the rolls, it literally looked like honey mustard but was their«spicy sauce.» We thought the sauce tasted a little off, we hadn’t experienced this taste at any other sushi place. We both got sick later that night, my husband threw up and I was up several times wishing I would’ve just let it go so I could’ve gotten some sleep.

We went to Kobe for dinner tonight. The miso soup was great. The vegetable tempura and my husband’s hibachi dinner were average. I ordered sashimi and could not finish it. The bowl was beautifully presented, but the flavor was very off. We were so disappointed. We really hoped to have found the neighborhood gem all the other reviewers have mentioned.
