Broward County Libraries – Hollywood Branch

As the Director of First Presbyterian Learning Center, only a few blocks away, I will like to recommend this library. I love the activities they have for children during summer camps. I take my after school children there as part of their field trips to remind them of the importance of reading. With today’s technology advancement, we have to remind our children what libraries are all about.

Yeah, I’m Unilocaling a library. But I was really annoyed that for some reason there isn’t a catalog computer terminal. Sure there are several rows of computers, but none that are only for research. So you have wait for an open terminal rather than being able to just log in as a guest, look up a book and go.
It’s a minor quibble, considering I usually frequent the Main Library in downtown Lauderdale.

I love love love my Dania library! I have been coming to the Dania branch previous one and this new one for years. The librians have watched my children grow up through the years and are always there to help from school reports to dvd. You can call to renew or to order and they always have a great attitude. The after school programs from years ago were great, the book club that Ms. Hollis runs is fantastic to the summer reading program where spiderman came for a visit. I can’t say enough good things about this library and everyone who runs it.

I love coming to this library. Instead of paying for Netflix, standing in front of a Redbox machine, going to the nearest Barnes & Nobles, or trying to figure out who has the best prices for CD’s; I just go to the Hollywood library and borrow everything from books, ebooks, audio books, music, and movies… for FREE! The only thing you would have to worry about is the $ 1.00 fine they charge each day for each item that is overdue.
I like the fact with having a library account, I can go on the website and check out any new book, CD, and DVD release. If the Hollywood branch does not have the item I want, I can put the item on hold and if there’s a copy of that item available at any other Broward library, it will be sent to the library of my choice for pickup. There is no limit on the amount of books or CD’s to borrow (2 – 3 weeks), but if you want to borrow DVD’s, the limit is 10 (1 week).
Besides borrowing books, CD’s, and DVD’s, the library also provides bus passes, faxes, copying and printing (15 cents each). They have four sections of computers for adults, teens, and young children. You have to first reserve a computer, which gives you a 60 minute session. You can only reserve a computer twice, which sucks cause I normally spend more than two hours on the internet. If you’re smart, you’ll walk in with your laptop and use the library’s free Wi-​Fi. There are also four 15 minute computers that needs no reservation for people who want to go on the internet for minor, quick things like check their email, a quick tweet, print, or download, or just check their facebook page.
The noise level in the facility is usually quiet until after 2pm. That’s when the school children arrives and then it becomes noisy. The staff are very friendly and are willing to answer any questions you have. It’s like my little sanctuary away from home.
