Karie is your enthusiastic knowledgeable tour guide. A fan and scholar of movies, especially old movies, she brings the dead back to life. Respectful and insightful her fascination with old Hollywood is contagious– you will love this tour. Not only are the big names featured, Fairbanks, Valentino, etc, but the men and women behind the scenes, screenwriters and cinematographers, get their due – better late than never.
Oh, yeah, and a very famous dog.

Great informative tour, a bargain for the money ($ 15). I really enjoyed myself and learned a great many things about the History of the Film Industry and some of its stars from the classic and silent film eras. Karie is a great tour guide and I wish she did many other different tours as she makes things really interesting. My only criticism and I would gladly pay two-​three times the price is I wish the tour was twice as long and approximately 4 hours. One bit of advice, as I brought my mother who was 88, its a walking tour through grassy paths not cement/​concrete and I wouldn’t recommend taking someone over 75 who has trouble walking. My mother did enjoy the tour though but she had trouble walking in the grass at her age and had to sit down several times. This wasn’t the tours fault just a heads up if you want to take someone much older who doesn’t walk more than 2 city blocks regularly.

Karie is amazing! Take this tour. It’s one of the best things of done in LA since I moved here a year ago.

Just took this tour today and loved it, even with the rain falling! My husband and I are always looking for new and interesting ways to explore LA when we come here to visit. We had previously taken the Dearly Departed Tour which was so much fun, so we decided to try this unusual walking your through Hollywood Forever Cemetery. A little background my husband I are big fans of these kinds of tours and have taken a ton throughout the years so my expectations were high.
Our tour guide Karie led our group of eight through two hours of incredibly well researched and intriguing facts about the cemetery and it’s eternal guests. Her presentation flowed so well and was so seamless we didn’t realize two hours had gone by. Learning about the seedy history of cemetery, how it came into being and the fates of the celebrities inside was truly a delight. Not a creepy, scary tour at all, more a history tour of Los Angeles and the film industry that just happens to take place in a cemetery. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who would love to learn more about this wonderful city.

This cemetery is rich with Los Angeles/​Hollywood history. The «Cemetery of the Stars» tour is 2 hours long, and basically touches on the history of the cemetery, as well as some of the notable people buried there. The tour is neither creepy, nor kitschy, nor morbid… it’s just interesting. The tour guide (Karie Bible) wears a dress from her own collection of 1920s-​1950s dresses to give the tour a more ‘old Hollywood’ feel, but that’s about as cutesy as it gets. It’s just good, wholesome LA history, in an extremely unique cemetery compared to the bland, white-​washed Forest Lawns that litter Southern California.
For $ 15 and easy free parking, it’s a great way to spend an afternoon enjoying this great city.
PS — Wear sunscreen and comfy shoes.

If you are aware of the fact that Hollywood is way much more than the Walk of Fame with its wacky characters, and if you like history, film and old movie stars, this tour is definitely for you!
Scratch that.
Even if you are clueless about everything above, I guarantee you will still enjoy the tour. It is a perfect mixture of adventure, entertainment and education. Karie is enthusiastic, professional, knowledgeable and personable. And she definitely knows how to tell a story. Even in 97 °F heat she was on the top of her game!
Actually, I got this tour as a gift to a friend who is a movie buff and history lover, so he was in heaven. As a person who is not exactly a Hollywood expert, I still enjoyed vivid life stories Karie told us, and just generally appreciated this huge common human experience called life.
The grounds are really well kept; everything is lush and green, and you can enjoy a peaceful view of the lake and the mausoleum while pondering about your life meaning and purpose. I saw a lot of Russian, Jewish and Armenian graves, which, of course, is intricately connected to the Hollywood history. Even without a tour, I would say it is a great piece of LA history you ought to see; but of course I highly recommend the tour!

So go see the stars in there final role, so you can chill out and talk to them for as long as you want. Stalking laws don’t exist for the dead so you’ll be OK unless you dig them up.
Also the first weekend is THE DAY OF THE DEAD festival which is something to put on the calendar.
Enjoy your visit but try not to find yourself as permanent resident.

An excellent tour, filled with Hollywood history, in a beautiful setting. The tour guide, Karie, was very knowledgeable and provided a top-​notch tour experience. Definitely recommended for both locals and out-​of-​towners.

This tour is FANTASTIC and Karie is amazing! I work in the entertainment and attractions industry, so I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to tours and things of that nature. Karie just might be the best tour guide I have ever seen. I went into this tour thinking that it was going to be cheesy and silly… and it was anything but that! Karie has a wealth of knowledge and has such a passion for this place and it really shows.
The tour takes about two hours and she takes you all around the cemetery. She gives the history of the cemetery and of Hollywood, which I though was really great and unexpected. She has so many great stories and information about each person on the tour. If you haven’t taken this tour yet, GO! It is well worth your time.

I took this tour today with my family and it was absolutely FANTASTIC. I’m a Los Angeles native and this was my first time visiting this cemetery. It’s an unconventional cemetery — the most interesting collection of tombstones, plots and mausoleums I have ever seen. It’s a total hodgepodge of personal taste & style. SO L.A.!! Karie Bible is a truly awesome tour guide. She has a wealth of information to offer about the actors buried there… the history… the scandals. She’s so energetic and eloquent. She completely captured my attention for 2 hours. The cemetery itself is lovely and has such a complex story behind it. It’s a true gem. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this tour. Outstanding! I highly recommend this tour to locals and visitors of all ages. Well, maybe 10 and up. My 7 year old was a little bored. :-)

Karie’s tour is one of those HIDDEN LA treasures that you simply can’t miss. Not only is she incredibly knowledgeable about old Hollywood, you can just tell she absolutely loves her job.
Many people don’t know this, but she was also born on Halloween. Who better to give you a tour of a cemetery!!!
It’s wonderfully macabre at times, but it’s also lighthearted, entertaining and chock full of mystery and intrigue. Two hours just flew by!

Out of all the tours, this is the most unique and interesting. Yes its a bit morbid walking around the cemetery, in fact the first couple of minutes I was skipping between graves ’cause I was paranoid walking over a grave. After a couple of minutes you just have to suck it up and deal with it.
Maybe its the thought of a zombie popping out its arm and pulling you in. Luckily no zombies in sight. The host is very graceful, she truly knows her stuff and a great story teller. She took us to some famous graves, even ones I had long forgotten of. It was nice listening to the back story of each person. The backdrop of the Paramount lot gives it an intriguing juxtapose to where the cemetery is today.
Highly recommend this tour and price is reasonable. Do plan to wear sunblock on those sunny days. Plenty of parking available at the cemetery.

This tour is excellent, both for LA locals, and visitors. The cemetery is accessible to the public, but without Karie Bible’s commentary, you’d wander around and not find many of the important markers, and certainly would be missing all the background and colorful stories. You’ll find out fascinating details about the lives, deaths, and tales that linger even after death, about the very famous, the lesser know, and the more obscure personalities. Karie is very engaging and sweet, and her dedication to the history is paramount (which by the way, the Paramount lot is immediately adjacent to Hollywood Forever.) The cemetery grounds are gorgeous and inspirational, and it’s easy to find, with plenty of free parking, even for the handful of vintage hearses that arrived to participate in the tour the day that I was there. I see the other reviews are highest rating, and I agree!

Karie Bible’s tour at Hollywood Forever is informative and fascinating — set among a beautiful landscape. What a perfect afternoon spent learning about little known — and better known — people who shaped this bizarre city. I will definitely be returning for her other tours!

If you are into old Hollywood you must take this tour. Even if you only have that much of an interest in silent films it is still extremely interesting. Tour guide Karie Bible dresses all in black and shows you some of the biggest names in Hollywood history such as Rudolph Valentino, Cecil B. DeMille, and Douglas Fairbanks, as well as smaller names such as Adrian, and modern actors like Estelle Getty. This is more than just a tour where you stop and see a bunch of headstones and monuments. Karie provides insights and history into the lives and times of those who rest here. At $ 15 a head it’s well worth it.

Some may think its strange or creepy to take a tour of a cemetery but the place is beautiful. Hollywood Forever Cemetery was restored in the late 1990s after falling into disrepair through the neglect of the previous owner. Many of the early stars of Hollywood are interred here which is where Karie Bible comes in. Karie leads tours of the cemetery grounds and points out many of the stars that are here along with many interesting facts dealing with the history of the cemetery along with the famous stars that are here.
The grounds are well maintained but the ground is uneven so make sure you wear comfortable shoes, also take some water with you as it does get hot and you will do a lot of walking. The tour lasts about 2 hours and cost $ 15 and is worth every penny, Kare is great and has many stories that makes the time seem to fly by.
