The orthodontist my daughter’s dentist recommended said that my daughter needed braces for 18 months at a cost of about $ 6k because her teeth were so badly misaligned. I could see that my daughter’s teeth weren’t perfect but they didn’t look THAT bad to me. Either way, I wanted a second opinion and my dentist recommended we see Dr. Minars. Dr. Minars observed that my daughter’s teeth could use some straightening but since they weren’t that bad he offered us two options. We could do braces for 12 months at a cost of $ 3k to get her teeth absolutely perfect. Alternately, he said that he could get them pretty darn close to perfect using retainers at a cost of about $ 700. My daughter decided to go the retainer route because she’d heard so many braces horror stories from friends. I was fine with that and added that if she was unhappy with the end result from the retainers she could aways do braces the following year. It’s been about two years since we started treatment — retainers only — and my daughter is delighted with her smile which, in my opinion, looks fantastic. Even though we went the less expensive route, we still got first-class treatment the whole time. The staff is very efficient and professional. The office is really attractive and comfortable. Things could not have worked out any better since we got the results we wanted at a very affordable price.
