So I just ordered from this place. Allow me to say before I dabble into this«raw getting» month up ahead I decided to eat something I grew up eating but stopped when I decided NOMOREREDMEAT(or pork). That doesn’t mean my tongue forgot what flavors it misses. With that being said, the oxtails were YUMMY!!! If only I could say that about the rice and peas and the cabbage. I knew to request gravy on the rice and peas, not only for added flavor but because I don’t like dry food. I’m an American so I can’t say how the dish is to be prepared I can only say what I’m used to eating. Even in Jamaica, the rice and peas didn’t have these little black HARD peas in it(which I think may or may not be peppercorns). And if you’re like me texture is EVERYTHING!!! And blame it on my Chicago eating but it seems NO matter where I travel the cabbage is ALWAYS bland. I would’ve rather had a salad but this place didn’t offer an alternative to the cabbage. I’m used to cabbage with maybe sliced carrots and multicolored peppers and FULL of flavor. This place has a FROZEN(yes I can taste the freezer burn) veggie medley hidden in the middle of the cabbage. It’s a bit overpriced if you ask me(home it’s only $ 10 – 12) $ 15 for what they consider a large(5 – 6 oxtails) and $ 8 delivery charges!!! From my calculations that’s $.50 per block I really want to try the jerk chicken but what kind of idiot would I be to pay for delivery what they almost charge for a jerk chicken entrée? Soooo good luck to those of you that can go in and place your order. And for those of you that needs your food to be delivered they won’t even come into the hotel lobby!!!

They say you only truly get to fall in Love Once… and that may be so(Romantically speaking anyway)… However… That’s what I LOVE about finding Great Food & Great Establishments: the Falling-in-Love Train NEVER stops. And, when I’m on a Good, Long Winning Streak, I get to Fall in Love over & over & over again. So, for now, Let’s take a ride on the NK Bistro car and see what they have in store, shall we? First things first, I did a Jamaican Food search right here on Unilocal, and got the usual list of Restaurants that would come up in this area… I’m sure you can figure out which ones the usual suspects are. And, on this particular Day & Time, the joint listed as most popular wasn’t an option(for various reasons I won’t go into, but I DO plan on visiting that one in the Future, too.) My trusted«Spidey Sense» went off when I peeped NK Bistro despite its Low Number of Reviews and its Mid-Level Star Rating. I liked the Photos(FYI: I tend to look at the Customer Shots & not just the Glossy ones put up by the Owners.) The BF& I went over the Menu Options and we were both sold. He and I are no Strangers to Jamaican food and were SO ready to get down with the Jerk Chicken and Chicken Foot soup respectively(Yes, he «rolls» like that), although once we got there he did Upgrade to the Oxtail. We walked into the Bright Green Restaurant, immediately noticed the Warm, Friendly SMILE of the Female Proprietor, and her Children playing quietly on the floor(one of whom was in a Playpen). Perhaps this would be a turn-off to some, but to me, I instantly felt like I was being WELCOMED into Someone’s Home, politely seated in their Living Room where I patiently awaited a Super-Yummy, Home-Cooked Meal. …And that is EXACTLY what we got. The Chicken and Oxtail were Simmered & Cooked to perfection with Love, I tell ya… LOVE! And so was the Rice & Peas by the way(or should that be «were»)? Regardless, once again… Simmered with Love to Perfection. The«Lady of the House» described her Jerk Chicken with said LOVE as well. Knowing my way around some Jerk(having prepared it myself) I inquired as to whether it was Wet or Dry Rub. She«had me at Hello» when she answered: «BOTH» Oh, yeah! It was on & cracking after that. My Guy & I were going to get it to go, but instead felt so at home & comfortable in there that we chose to stay & eat in. We were the only ones in there until another couple arrived a bit later, so we pretty much had the joint(a.k.a. Living Room) to ourselves. And guess what… My Spidey Sense was Right! As always… The food did in fact taste like Genuine Quality Home Cookin’, the Kids played quietly in the corner and provided rather beautiful ambiance, actually. No running around like sugar induced Tasmanian Devils at Chuck E. Cheese or anything. ;-) Also, while we were eating, and I in particular was indulging in my Wet/Dry-Rub combo Dipping Heaven(‘cuz I got extra Sauce on the side, don’t ya know), I noticed said«Lady of the House» went off to make a Delivery run on her own! The Hubby & kids held down the fort, and the Customer Service, and both if us couples present(and anyone who phoned in an order, it seemed) were ALL handled accordingly and taken care of… I’ll say it once again… With. Love. If there was anything negative to say about NK Bistro, it’s that I would recommend they serve their Cabbage a bit more al denté, like it is in their photos. Ours was a bit too over cooked that day. Perhaps it was because this is a One Family Mom & Pop Show… LITERALLY and they cooked it beforehand in anticipation of the Business they so obviously deserve. After all, this is a 2 Person Operation here!(Er – maybe 5 if you count the Kids) **Don’t worry, I’m sure if you came during School Hours, that’s exactly where they’d be.** So, if the 1-Star Haters can’t appreciate the NK experience, then, perhaps YOU, Dear Reader, will. Remember, this is Real, Authentic Jamaican Home-Cooking…that Somebody’s Mother prepared… Somebody’s Father prepared… and that’s Somebody’s Living Room you’re sitting in… so act like it. Be Kind, be Courteous, be Gracious… Be POLITE… And, last but not least, be PATIENT. They say: «When in Rome, do what the Romans do.» Well… You’re in JAMAICA now, so just go with it. :-) P. S. It looks like they have Live Reggae on Thursdays and I noticed it seemed they’d also be great for Catered Events & Renting out for the Evening if that’s your thing, too. Not really mine, but I’m just puttin’ that out there.

I’ll be the first to admit I haven’t had a poor meal from this restaurant. I’m a fan of Caribbean food & this restaurants location to me makes it even more inviting. However the service ranks among the WORST I’ve ever experienced in my lifetime. I placed an order online at 6pm and after 2 calls to the restaurant and 2 updated time frames and nearly 3 hours later I gave up on my order & cancelled it. I’ll NEVER order or recommend this restaurant to anyone and in the future when I’m given the chance to bad mouth this restaurant & recount this experience I will to anyone that’ll listen. I’ve given this place the benefit of the doubt time & time again and continue to have my loyalty go unrewarded. This restaurant by far has the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Furthermore I’d like to go on record that I’m in African-American man and I like to support black owned businesses, however this is one I cannot any longer. My recommendation to all those reading this review is to keep your money in your pockets allow this place to go out of business by it’s on hand, it’s own poor customer service and it’s own lack of respect for its customer base.

Gross!!! This place talks a big game, but their delivery is somewhere right below a frozen microwave dinner. Service is a step below that. I only gave one star because no stars isn’t an option. I could rant on and on about how disgusting this place is. Not worth my time. Unless you’re into gross with a chance of food poisoning, STAYAWAY!!!

I have been there several times and I am quite impressed with the service and food they produce. I have eaten fish, oxtail and their jerk pork and they have quite a good level of consistency with the food they serve. My wife and I really appreciate what they’ve done to maintain their level of service and we will continue to support them.

This place is soooooo good. Plus the family that runs it is so sweet. Just got the oxtail for the first time today. Amazing! The best I’ve ever had and surprisingly meaty(most oxtail doesn’t have much meat). Those complaining about the time for delivery rest assured that they got a driver now and delivery is smooth. Remember the food is fresh so it does take a little time to cook. You want fast food then go to McDonald’s. Can’t wait to order the oxtail again. I love the curry chicken too. I haven’t tried much more than that. Oh my fiancé gets the jerk. They actually smoke their own jerk. Amazing!

Had dinner here with 4 people. I have never been to a restaurant where the owner and staff took so much pride in their restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. We had the jerk chicken, oxtails, goat curry, and jerk pork. Great place to get some great Jamaican food!

Just ordered their stew peas for delivery. Was told it would take about 45 minutes. An hour later I was still waiting for my food. It eventually came, the stew peas itself was fine. Nothing special. Of course it was cold. The white rice that accompanied it was hard, and first I thought it was undercooked, then I realised it just seemed like old rice that was cooked the day before and reused. Very disappointed.

No idea how the food is, place is obviously a trip. Placed an online order at 1:10pm, a few minutes later got the confirmation of delivery at 2:15. 20 minutes after that I get a confused call telling me the driver is out on 2 deliveries, and there was repeated confusion about what I wanted(I had ordered 2 items right off the menu, no special requests and all the«options» specified). I was then put on speakerphone with«the manager» and was told that he just wanted me to know that their driver was out on 5 deliveries(yes, 3 more than a minute earlier!), because I had asked for the food at 2:15(not when I asked for it, when they estimated they would deliver it when they confirmed the order). It became clear they were trying to get me to cancel my order, so I did.

I’ve tried to order from this restaurant a few times I successfully ordered the ribs once the portions were small but they were excellent I do not recommend the jerk chicken I’ve called three Times to order the jerk pork they have never had it available I tried to order a few other dishes from this place it seems they don’t carry their entire menu at all times if a restaurant takes the time to make a menu I think they should commit to it!

I was Happy that a jamican resturant open in hollywood but. Been there twice got oxtail the first time. It was pretty good just two pieces of oxtail the rest was neck bone. Did not like that. Second time got curry goat was very delish but they did not put enough goat it was like 4 bites thats kinda a deal breaker for me. Not sure if im gonna go back. A little expensive too.

The atmosphere is great and the food is even better!!! I absolutely love the oxtail. I’ve ordered it at least 5 times. I’m now a regular. Once, I even sprang out an tried the chicken and shrimp stir fry which was just as amazing as the oxtail. It’s really hard to find good for for a good price, but they definitely helped me achieve that goal. Def my new fav restaurant!
