Reality LA

My friends in Seattle told me to come here and really liked Paster Tim. I used to like coming to church here somewhat but it was much better when Paster Tim was there. Since I hadn’t been going to church much because of school I decided to come again for Easter. The security guard today at the easter service assumed I was a tourist and told me this isn’t for tourists. I guess its because I was azn even though I saw plenty of other ones there. They then started to ask me what the church was and they were actually going to scan me with a screener so I decided it wasn’t worth going to. Since when is a christian church not for a tourist? Well I guess today now it isn’t. I’ve now lost complete interest in coming back to this church. There are other churches and I“m going to a different one later instead. It isn’t exciting going to church alone in the first place, the security people didn’t make me enjoy going any more.

«Reality LA raised me as a Christian from 23-​yr living an agnostic life, non-​believing, rebellious in every way, didn’t know God, had no idea who Jesus was to plugging into community, pouring out so much love into me, getting saved, believer, to now a follower and married to Jesus Christ. My walk from dead to alive was about 4years. For those in community groups and actually do life together and are committed, it’s the best family I could have ever asked for. I can’t even fathom how much restoration, peace, and joy this church brings to me and everyone I’ve ever brought to Reality. It’s home for me. It’s a larger church but when you finally find one that points everything to the gospel and the good news of Jesus Christ and they never make the church about anything else but Him, why wouldn’t it be a big church. Isn’t that what we all want? They have child care, events, mission trips, volunteer work, and so much more. Come check us out!!!

Reality LA is by far my favorite church in Los Angeles. No matter where I go, I still come here.
There are 3 services: 9am, noon, & 5pm
It’s one of the larger churches in LA, & they meet in a high school auditorium. Their staff & pastors are amazing. Pastor Tim, who started Reality LA just finished his time there & is moving to London to plant a church.
The worship is incredible, maybe the best if any church I’ve been too. The lessons are real, convicting, applicable, & always Bible based. For such a huge operation z everything runs smoothly, & there are always ways to volunteer. The focus is always on Jesus.
Even though bthe church is large, they have community groups to get involved in & other smaller gatherings to get to know people intimately.
I would say to anyone looking for a church home, or just visiting LA, RLA is a must.

A very friendly community for how large this church is. One of the better mega churches I’ve attended. It still was a little to large for me to feel like I could really connect deeply with people but I’m sure if I had spent more time there that could have happened. A very welcoming and friendly community!

I haven’t been to a church like this one. The only worships I actually enjoy, feel like i learn something that i can apply to every day life and leave the service uplifting and with new hope. I love their music, it’s completely freeing. Paster tim is amazing he seems very close to earth, makes the services interesting and applicable to every day problems. You leave church with the feeling of not being alone plus you can always join a community group and strengthen your life in community and faith.

RealityLA is definitely one of the bigger churches in LA – they have 3 Sunday services (9am, 12pm, 5pm). And if you have kids, RealityLA also provides childcare during each service.
I love this church because they really emphasize on the Bible – each and every one of their sermons are supported by the Word through various parables, verses, stories, etc. The pastors do a wonderful job in connecting the scripture to our «real world» and showing us how we can apply the Lord’s teachings into our own lives.

RealityLA is located within a High School, so there is plenty of parking available – although I definitely recommend coming earlier because I came late once and had a really hard time finding parking around the area.
If you want to be more connected to the community you can also apply to Volunteer, join a Community Group (Bible Study group basically), and also participate in many of the events RealityLA hosts throughout the year such as the Women’s Retreat. Last fall I moved from Orange County to attend UCLA, so finding a church was an important objective. It just happens that many people from CRU (campus Christian group) go to this church and many students get rides from those w cars. This church is awesome, they got friendly people ranging from college kids to grown adults, great worship, and solid teaching. Oh and before service you can grab some of the best hot cocoa I’ve ever tasted. To think that such a community would exist in the midst of Hollywood. I am so blessed to have found this place

We regularly attend Reality SF in San Francisco and we’re very happy to have discovered a church that dispenses with all the wasted, stuffy frivolities of religiosity.
We found a seat, but only because we went 20 minutes early. It fills up fast so beware, you might get shut out and banished to the overflow which is outside on the patio steps (no screen, just audio)
Same straightforward REALITY style, which I like. The sermon was a little longer than ours in SF. I guess they go longer here because I noticed the same comments in some other reviews. I like the fact that they serve coffee and you can bring it into the sanctuary. Parking is difficult but we got lucky. Not sure where to park beside the street but I’m sure there’s go to be a nearby lot where everybody is parking.
I like churches where the focus is not on people and the service but on Jesus which is where it should be.
Service was a little long, but I’d rather here a long, passionate, God-​centered talk than a short, fluffy, comedic, ego-​centric devotional. Are you feeling me?

They focus on lies breeding from Pastor Tim who claims let’s focus on change? I don’t believe there lies I went to that stupid church, they have no compassion for anyone with handicaps or disabilities never have they ever apologized for their horrible behavior but I was invited back and it was a joke to me since I know right from wrong something they have never learned and most likely never will.
It’s nothing more them a gay/​reform most are gay or were now reformed but in human nature most gay men return to what there former lives were before time and time again.
They never will ever convince me there our to save sols for «Christ»
When the church is at its healthiest, many people contribute to the life of the body with gifts they’ve been given. One of those gifts is «pastoring», or care-​taking. Mixed with all the other gifts in the body, the whole community is healthy, alive, free, and an expression of God’s love in the world that is obvious and undeniable.
But this is very rare among church gatherings.
Much more often, the group is dominated and defined by the personality of one person: the Pastor-​god.
The Pastor-​god is not merely a contributor within the body; he is the voice, the face, and the authority in the church. He is the boss, the CEO, the example, the teacher, the father-​figure.
In the Cult of the Pastor-​god, they are called «God’s anointed». They are the one who communicates God’s word to the followers. They are the mouth, while the church is the ears. Their part is to provide care and discipline to the people; the people’s part is to listen, honor, and follow.
And in many churches, this model works flawlessly. People really want someone to lead and protect them – without it they feel vulnerable and lost. And of course there are no shortage of people willing to assume this role of the Pastor-​god.
This review is based on first hand experience with this outfit. Need to learn about right from wrong.
The Pastor-​god claims to not want adulation and adoration from the people, but inwardly they crave it. The people claim they don’t believe their pastor is a god, but they treat him like he is. When the pastor makes them proud, they heap accolades. When the pastor does not live up to his god-​like standard, they look for ways to take him down.
When the Pastor-​god is there, the people feel safe. When the Pastor-​god goes away, the people are devastated.
Of course this is nothing new – people are afraid to be leaderless, as was the nation of Israel when they demanded a leader:
But the people refused to listen to Samuel. «No!» they said. «We want a king over us. Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.» (I Samuel 8:19−20)
God reluctantly gave them their leader, an outstanding young man named Saul. Their craving for a leader was satisfied, but it was wrong; what resulted was anxiety, strife, war, madness, and death.
One of the reasons churches suck today is because they are much less like the body of Christ and much more like the Cult of the Pastor-​god – or «the cult of personality.» More and more within the church are recognizing this disturbing reality: have a cup of coffee, we have child care upstairs, come to small group we will make sure we make you go home feeling like crap so you will come to our Sunday service!
Reality-​LA a proven fact of deceptions and lies they know nothing about right or wrong, and if they were truly there to teach about God=Jesus it would not be a club membership of the exclusive individuals who can sit next Tim.

I’m so glad i found this church. It’s my first time and it was awesome! The music is fantastic. And the crowd is young. I love this church. I promise myself to come here regularly. It’s gonna be an incredible new home for me.

Grade B: I like the lesson.
Grade F: Disappointment: Few of ladies wore inappropriate attire. They were very disrespectful in the house of the Lord. (Ex: Very short short, short skirt and short outfit)
Grade C: It was a little disorganize after the pastor was done on his lesson.

Very relaxed, upbeat, super positive, laid back (seriously wear your jeans and sneakers if you want, it’s cool) and welcoming congregation. Sermon was genuine, relatable, and really moving. The live music was incredible — professional quality (of course this is LA!) facilities are rented at the school, plenty of comfortable seating/​good visibility to the stage. Heard great things about the kids program. parked at the overflow lot and was a little walk over, but enjoyable. nothing strenuous. Was very impressed with this whole experience.

What an amazing church. Unlike my church growing up, it is casual and informal. It is mostly a younger crowd which creates an upbeat energy. Everyone is very nice and supportive. The band is amazing. I leave each week feeling like I attended a Christian concert. Being a lover of praise and worship, I appreciate that there is a lot of singing! Most important, pastor Tim is phenomenal! He is funny, entertaining, and very smart. He is an excellent speaker and gives sermons that are more like a bible study with take home messages and real life stories. Every sermon is relevant to everyday life. I am thankful to have found this church!

I was praying for a church that loves Jesus and that is centered around him.
Reality LA is a wonderful church and great community.
After the first visit i knew this is my new church.
The worship is great. They lower the lights, so people are not distracted and can sink and dive into worship with full heart.
I love this place. I have check out the community groups. It was easy to get connected.
The preaching is solid and very close to the word of God. Pastor Tim is doing a great job and he’s funny and honest. We need more churches like this in LA.

I’m not much for reviewing churches, but had such a wonderful number of visits I decided to dive in and share my experience.
Every time I go to SoCal, we go visit different churches. Just want to experience different faith communities, hear from different teachers, and learn something new about how to do church.
Reality LA is one thoughtful place. As the new guy, I felt really welcomed. Church and religion can be an intimidating thing, so being welcomed without it being overly effusive, was a really good thing. Signage is good. Parking guides helping you park. You can sit where you want. People say hi, and even when they’re not saying to me, I like looking around and seeing people familiar with one another.
The music is professional. It frankly blew me away. Message is thoughtful, tons to think about. It’s a church for those not used to church, and who think church and Christianity stuff is tacky and second rate. Reality LA will upend those prejudices pretty quick.

This is an absolutely fantastic church. Pastor Tim Chaddick’s sermons are hard-​hitting, biblical, and captivating without adding fluff.
This is by far the best worship team I have ever heard, period. They don’t need any extra effects (think fog machines, lasers) that some other churches might add to try to add extra «effect.» Rather, they do the opposite — the lights are dimmed and the background lights on the cyc are brought up so all you can see are silhouettes of the band — putting the focus on God and not the music.
Just be aware that the primary demographic of this church is 20something hipster college students. People are pretty well dressed when they come here, and why wouldn’t you be in your Sunday-​best?

Grateful to have had the opportunity to listen to Pastor Tim’s sermon before he went on his sabbatical.
He touched some strong points that I’m currently dealing with at the moment. I was recently diagnosed with something that I might possibly need medication for the rest of my life and life as I know it has done a complete 180 for me – some for the better.
When we think about health, I don’t really think of the spiritual component. Mostly the physical since that’s the most visible then eventually the mental health aspect. I have strayed away from the Catholic church for various reasons but I’d like to believe there’s a God out there.
Fast forward, a dear friend of mine introduces me to Christian church when I visited her up north. I found the experience to be quite different and eye opening. She told me about RealityLA but as with everything else I have put off lately, I did not follow through with going.
I’m so glad I finally went last week! The service was really lively. Compared to my friend’s church up north, this was bigger so it feels like you’re gonna get lost in the crowd but there are definitely some friendly faces and I think as long as you put forward the effort to get to know others, you should be fine.

I’m sorry, but San T.‘s review of Reality LA is ridiculous… How can you say a church is terrible because people don’t say, «Hi» to you? You even admitted that you love the sermons and ideology of this church, but because people didn’t say, «Hi,» to you, you never want to return. If you are going to church only to make friends/​socialize, I guess this is a good reason, but the purpose of a church is to fill you with the Holy Spirit and guide you in your walk with God throughout the week. In this case, the sermon and ideology are most important. Sorry, I just think this review is so silly and contradictory, so I needed to respond.
Anyways, Reality LA is an amazing church. Pastor Tim Chaddick is a GREAT pastor. He is obviously very charismatic and funny, which keeps people always interested in what he is saying, but more importantly, the Holy Spirit really speaks through him, and his messages are always crystal clear and relevant. I always take notes and find myself thinking about things he said throughout the week. He is also incredibly humble, which is inspiring.
I was looking for a church that would help strengthen my walk with God, and this is exactly what Pastor Tim Chaddick does. I’ve been so blessed by his sermons, and you can really tell that God is using him and this church to help a lot of people grow in their relationships with God.

I love love love Reality! Pastor Tim’s sermons are devoid of any fluff (and he doesn’t need to rely on any of it to make his sermons interesting or keep the congregation awake) and he goes straight to the point. The things he preaches have just pierced my heart and forced me to evaluate my relationship with God on so many levels. I’ve only started regularly attending Reality for a few months but I can say that Reality has played a big role in developing my spiritual life.
The worship is fantastic. I agree – it’s not a talent show. They really foster a great environment where people can connect to God and the Holy Spirit on such an intimate level.
I recommend everyone to give it a try! Warning: Try to get there at least 10 – 15 minutes before the service starts because parking and seating can run out easily, especially if you’re going to the 9AM service!
