This place has sadly been replaced by a new joint called the Caribbean Lounge. Walked by on a Saturday night — it was dead as a doornail– and I’m guessing from the name — there ‘aint no sushi or jazz here. (Insert lots of whining and crying.)

Really AMAZING food! So fresh, so gourmet and GREAT vegetarian options! The atmoshpere is lovely! UNFORTUNATELY, THEYCLOSEDDOWN! I went two weeks ago and there was a sign that said they were closed for emergency repairs… then a week later there were«FORLEASE» signs all over it!!! I almost cried… the best Sushi Place in the area… GONE!

Nice place, no Blues playing night I was there. They could at least play a little for background if no live music. Food was good. Carrot soup is unique, big enough to share if both want to taste.

As long as you bring your ear plugs on Friday night, you’re all set to eat at Sushi Blues. On the night that they have live music, it is so loud in the place that you have to yell pretty loud for anyone in your party to hear you. the place is pretty small, but they are very accomodating for large parties as long as you make advanced reservations. When I went here for my mom’s birthday, the food was great and came out pretty fast. The sushi was fresh and my favorite was the sweet potatoe fries. Super super YUMMYYUMMY!~ The dessert here is also quite good. The waiters sang Happy Birthday and came out with a lit candle in the icecream. I was happy that it wasn’t a HUGE scene with instruments making the entire restaurant stare at us. The cooked fish is also really great, we had the salmon in about 3 different ways and they were all good. While we were eating, I noticed that there was a whole group by the bar. So it seems like this would also be a great place to go and hang out after work by the bar. There is some outdoor seating as well, but I don’t think that you get the whole groove of the place being outside.

Excellent ambiance, live music, attentive waitresses, good sushi — what more could you ask for? Not too crowded on a Friday night, but reserve a table for two if you get the chance, its very intimate. Will definitely be back many times!

Unfortunately the night I had dinner they didn’t have live music entertainment. :-(But they do have live music, which is nice and unusual for a sushi restaurant. I liked the atmosphere and the sushi was good.

Came here on a Thursday night, it was packe but it wasnt dead. I never really ahd sushi so this was my first time with my girls to try it with them. First we ordered two side salads which were only like $ 2.50… nothing extravagant just has greens, carrots and the ginger dressing which was very good actually. To drink I irdered Chardonnay but they have an extensive wine list, cocktails, and beers. My wine was 9.00. We order 4 sushi rolls. a JB tempura roll, salmon skin roll, spicy double tuna, and a vegetarian roll. EACh were about 8.00 I loved loved loved the JB tempura roll and the salmon skin roll. nice texture and it was fresh. Im not a fan of the raw fish on the double tuna roll so I prefer crunchy textures. We ordered 4 rolls, 3 glasses of wine, a bottle of beer and two salads .for a total of $ 70.00 between 3 people. I really liked the atmosphere; we got to sit on the swanky little couch area and the food was great. I wouold recommend it for someone who has never tried sushi or likes sushi to begin with :)

The sushi here was average, but the reason it gets four stars is the people. The hostess, who also makes the desserts, apparently, was super friendly. After we finished our sushi rolls, she swung by the table and told us about her homemade desserts. We passed since we were full. After we paid, my partner was finishing his beer and she returned to ask us not to leave just yet. She insisted that we try her strawberry mousse and brought over a portion for free with two spoons for us to share. She was right… it was delicious!!! The staff here make you feel like a valued customer, which is rare especially in a tourist area. If you give it a try, be sure to order the Japanese Spring Roll appetizer. Loved it! Save the extra sauce to use on some of your sushi rolls. Regarding some comments about it being pricey… I didn’t think it was that out of whack, but maybe it’s because I’m used to northern NJ prices?

This week was the second time I came to Sushi Blues for lunch. I can’t comment on after hours because I have never been. There were not many people, which is nice and great for a working lunch. The prices are great, especially the lunch specials. And even though they were out of avocado the day I went they still have an extensive enough menu to compensate. I had the spider roll and spicy roll. I definitely perferred the spider over spicy, but that’s a personal preference. The fish was fresh, the service was great. A place I will definitely be returning to in the near future.

This place has decent sushi at too high of a price. Set just one block of the hipper part of Downtown Hollywood, Sushi blues is a wanna be swanky place to be on Friday nights. The sidewalk tables give you a nice place to sit on cooler nights while the indoor seating is definatly nice and well kept. The bottom line on this place is that the food doesn’t compare to some of the better Sushi joints in South Florida. Their roll selection in mundane and overpriced. This place is for the less adventurous sushi eaters.

Came down to visit my family and my sister recommended this great sushi place so we decided to check it out for lunch. Sampled a few fusion rolls from the menu, service was lacking, and the place was more on the empty side. not impressed maybe it was just a bad day to come. sushi mediocre at best. i like my sticky rice sticky-er with a bit more vinegar for a punch!

I don’t like sushi. But at Sushi Blues Café — So What !!! I was in the area working and stepped out for a bite to eat and being that I am not familiar with Hollywood, I planned to stop at Joe Blow Sandwich shop and get a quick bite. The out door Lincoln table sets and funky jazz music at noon on a Tuesday gave me a reason to pause and read the specials board. I saw that they has a Tiliapia sandwich grilled with a ginger sauce and plum wine. I just had to try that. The inside of Sushi Blues is very funky and yet comfortable — hues of blue and purple dominate the interior with a lot of shiny glasses on the bar on the back. Imagine if Lenny Kravitz owned a sushi place and did the decorating — that piano from the Florida Room would fit in appropriately. My server was prompt and very friendly. he had good alternative suggestions including a Sushi Blues Burger that I will try next time. My sandwich came out quickly and with a really good salad. C R U N C H !!! Thats how fresh my salad was and what really topped off both the really tasty sandwich and the salad was the ginger dressing that served on the side. TIP: Dip you sandwich in the ginger sauce and then sip some green tea. I then had a carmel brownies with green tea ice cream topping with powder sugar sprinkled all over. (an extra 2 miles on the treadmill tonight but worth it !) All this for under $ 16 !!! This is a winner for sure. Sushi Blues Café makes it on to my very short list of reason to go to Broward County along with Ft. Lauderdale Airport, The Parrot Lounge and Scarletts Cabaret. I can’t wait to come back on a weekend night.

I’ve lived in Hollywood for 10 years and yesterday was the first time I ever heard of this place. My friends and I were at Hollywood Vine and decided we needed some sushi. We were about to head to Nakorn but Sushi Blues was closer. The service is A+ and the food is incredible. Their Shrimp Shumai was the best I’ve had. The Soy glazed chicken sandwich was yummy! Hello! It had me at Sweet Soy Glaze and Avocado. Definitely recommend and will be back in the very near future.

I had a roll or two from here before, they’re good. I had an ‘asian salad’ that was super sweet and too much so I ended up wasting a lot of food.(You can’t take soggy salad home, or at least I can’t). The sweet potatoes fries are good but nothing that I crave. Quite honestly, I think this place has more of a funky aura than it’s food. I’ve never been in love. I would take one of the other two sushi joints in Hollywood over Sushi Blues. Service has been good. Usually I end up drinking here and pay $ 8 for a Mai-Tai. No big whoop.

We went here for a birthday dinner the other night. We had some bottles of wine and sake. I was in the mood for some veggie sushi, but Im not into the Nori that it gets wrapped in. I asked if they have soy paper. The waitress thought I was crazy, but came back and YES! They did have it! I had a great roll with portobello, goat cheese, and… something else great, I forget. The sweet potato fries are to DIEFOR. The come with 3 dipping sauces one of which is a wasabi aioli… awesome. We had 2 plates of friend demolished within minutes. They also have lava cake here, which for me, seals the deal almost anywhere. Our server was on her game, knew what she was doing and totally kept up with all our late arrivals.

LMAO! I mean it’s such an odd combination, that I just laughed and laughed each time I ate there. But yea, it’s sushi, and blues. Together. What a concept. The food is great, and the local acts that play there are phenominal. This is one of my fav Hollywood area spots to hit up when I’m in town.

Just missed the live band but sushi was good. I had Yozo Rolls and was great texture. One things that makes me not put 5 star was they used too much rice. Besides that, fish was fresh and definitely recommend place to go for sushi around this area!!!

What a combo: sushi and blues? who would’ve thought? It’s a husband & wife duo. The wife is Japanese and her husband plays the sax in the blues band. Both are very nice people. The sushi is excellent(I am very picky about sushi), and the band is nice. If you are an long island ice tea fan, be sure to order one as they are yummy! Friday’s are the best band nights, and reservations are recommended. I always reserve a seat on the sofa next to the stage because the tables are a little to close for my comfort. But if the inside is too crowed, you can always sit outside(but you can’t hear the band). I’ve never had a problem with the service. I would recommend this spot

Sushi Blues serves my favorite food in the world — seared tuna and avocado salad with a champagne vinaigrette. I’m not even a huge sushi person. But they have a giant menu that is so interesting you could read it like a book, they frequently have live music, and I hear their happy hour is great, although I have yet to check that out myself. Sushi Blues is one of those«sure bet» types of places. Everyone I have taken there loves it, and I’d say it deserves that reputation.
