Great President’s Day mark downs plus a 20% coupon make shopping at JC Penny a no-brainer, assuming they have what you are looking for. I have always felt comfortable with most of JCP’s merchandise over the years when shopping and I will usually check Macy’s and Kohls as well. With Macy’s being on the wane in my area JCP will undoubtedly become much stronger. Sales are usually very good and so far I have no complaints.

Though I’ve only been twice to this JCPenney, I’ve not experienced any of the problems other reviewers have mentioned. Perhaps they’ve changed their ways? Maybe it’s that pre-holiday rush of energy, but when we went this past weekend(11/15/2015), the store was nice organized, clean, well-stocked, and there were several employees that we saw in different sections that were refolding clothes, restocking, helping customers, etc. You’d think that’d be par for the course now a days, but with employment cutbacks, it’s much more common to see entire sections in complete disarray. I mean, have you seen Marshall’s on Boston Road lately? Minus one star for the fact that there wasn’t a register apparent anywhere, and we ended up walking toward the back of the store to find one. The line was minimal, and we walked out with some much needed clothing for less than $ 60, including one very nice sweater(originally $ 85, marked down to $ 35). That was one thing that surprised me: their pricing! it’s very competitive with more casual chains. I would expect to pay the same price(or maybe even a little more) at Marshall’s or Kohl’s. Take a peek back in at JCPenney. Even if it’s just to run across a nice oatmeal sweater that you don’t really need, but it’s such a good price, and you *could* use a sweater in a different color this year, and it just looks sooooooo good on you.

Where to Start? If you want your hair to look BETTER do NOT come here!!! They ruined my hair!!! I came in one day looking to get a little something done to my hair, they left the foils on for an extended amount of time, 30 min or so without checking once to see if it was getting over processed. which is was! Original brunette with now platinum blonde pieces, or Salt and Pepper hair should I say! NOTGOOD! I then had my hair re-adjusted to a «brown» only for it come out red with honey brassy roots! Making me look like a natural born strawberry head, which IMNOT! They ruined my hair by over processing it, and with lack of communication and knowledge they didn’t do what was best for my hair, they did the very few things they knew of to «correct» it! My suggestion is if you are looking for someone to chat with, come here, very friendly staff but highly uneducated about coloring and corrections. Mistakes happen, but with paying a good price, mistakes like this should;‘t have occurred! Common sense also played a key in my hair damaging as the first woman who did my hair should have checked every so often to see it turning. At the end of the day, if you choose to go here, just be cautious and I hope your hair does not get ruined like mine did! I now unfortunately have to wait a few months for my roots to grow in because the people I did seek advice from were knowledgeable and told me to hold on on coloring it anymore, unlike the staff at JCpenny, who don’t really care if your hair is damaged as long as they have work and money in their pocket! Choose your salon wisely, and do research! I have learned my lesson of to NEVER go here again, and with so many viable options of salons in the area, I will NOT be returning!

While at the Holyoke Mall picking up some items at the Christmas Tree Shop we decided to stop in at this JCPenney to look for some shoes for our upcoming wedding. When we entered the store we were a bit taken aback by the scent in the shop. It smelled like we were in the basement of a home which made it a bit difficult to spend much time in the store. The mall itself is under construction and the smell of humidity may have been due to the fact that the AC wasn’t working well in the store. When it came to the items in the store, the shoe section was lacking. The place was packed and it was disorganized. It was impossible to find an employee but this was due to the fact that their were so many people trying on shoes. The other departments in the store were decently stocked and organized. In the end we didn’t find the shoes that we were looking for but the store overall was OK. We will continue to shop here in the future, but we hope that they fix the AC in the store.

This JC Penney has it all. Great selection of men’s, women’s, teens and kids clothing. Nice home section. And Sephora! All the employees were friendly and helpful. I even found an ugly Christmas sweater for the Ugly Sweater Run in Hartford! I haven’t shopped at Penneys in ages but this store might have changed me mind.
