I’m a former employee of this bakery, and I must say that all of the products are amazing! All other employees were beyond exceptional, and it was a shame to see this place go. It was like my second home. I felt as though the owner, Armand Posipanka, took me in as his own grandson. He is such a great man. Also, Peg Posipanka, was such a sweet, young lady that always kept us entertained. What great people!

Before I left Pittsburgh for Texas, my sister and I went on every single thing we had not done in Pittsburgh. The list was short but on the list was a Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area tour of the Carrie Furnace. Later we found out that same historical group offered a different tour called Babushkas and Hard Hats. That tour included talk about Pittsburgh weddings, how we have«rigs and pigs»… for those of you from out of town, that means rigatoni and halupki/pigs in a blanket Pittsburgh style/cabbage leaves rolled around ground meat and rice, then a little tomato soup sauce. Also Pittsburgh weddings always have a cookie table. If you’re a mill hunkie, you have had slovak cold dough cookies. You know, the little cookies that are shaped like a horn. There’s a square, you turn it so its a diamond shape, you run some apricot or nut filling down the center by the teaspoonful, then you fold the corners over so its like a cute little log and bake it. Well A and B bakery has perfected the slovak cold dough cookie and happens to be across the street from where the Rivers of Steel history center is in the Bost Building. We were taken by our tour guide over to the bakery and I laid down some serious coin after my free sample. If you need cookies for a wedding, GOHERE. They are the best. Yeah your fingers will have butter residue after you eat one, but weddings aren’t the time for diets. Or even if its not a wedding and you just need great cookies like your grandma made, GOHERE. I can’t say enough great things about them. Well worth a drive to Homestead to check it out. and no, Homestead is not as scary as you might think. I think they only take cold hard cash.(get it, cold dough cookies, cold hard cash, I kill me! haha)
