Long Shot Range

I shot a couple IDPA matches at Long Shot while we were in Miami during the winter of 2015. It was an improvement over shooting matches at Markham Park in Ft. Lauderdale, and a big improvement over the Trail Glades matches. Not that the Markham range is «bad» but all of the stages must be shot on one large bay. Trail Glades uses one small bay, and some of the ROs don’t even know the rules, giving their buddies reshoots for gun malfunctions, etc… but that’s another story. At Long Shot we had the use of two large bays and now it looks they have even more bays (and at least some of them have side berms… yea!). The only negative I could say about the place was that when I was doing a little minor gun maintenance on an unused, adjacent bay, someone came and ran me off, saying that our IDPA group did not rent that bay so I couldn’t use it. It’s not like anyone else was using it or I was shooting on it, just using one of the benches for a minor lube job. Anyway, not a big deal. I’ve been shooting in the Miami area for about six winters now and I always lamented that for an area as populated as that there was no good place for IDPA and USPSA matches. Since Long Shot opened that is no longer the case.

Awesome and fun range. Safety is priority here, if you want to get stupid, don’t come here. The RSOs are on point so that mishaps don’t happen. If you can’t handle being told that you’re doing something unsafe or putting other people at risk, then you probably shouldn’t be shooting anyway. As safe as I think I am, I’m glad someone is there watching me making sure I don’t make even a small mistake. Nice clean range, courteous staff inside the shop and out on the range and prices are just right to keep some riffraff out.

run. do not come here. they slander you and pick on you for no reason. officers have post traumatic stress disorder. do not go to this range if you have the chance. very unprofessional establishment.
They scrutinize and will slander you. I had an incident with an officer that was constantly picking on me. He was shooting down the range right next to me as I was setting up my target, very unsafe. And he could’ve potentially shot me
