Beauty For Ashes Salon and Color Bar

Wow! I am very impressed with this salon! I usually go somewhere else, but I wanted to get a cut right away, and since this salon takes walk-​ins, I figured I’d give it a try.
And I am so glad that I did! Kisa was my stylist and she was wonderful. She was so patient with me while I was figuring out what color I wanted — and she answered all my questions happily. She was so great.
I got my eyebrows waxed, color, and cut and style for a great price. The salon itself feels homey and boho-​chic. I will be back!

Was looking for a Salon to do cut and color on a Saturday as basically a walk-​in, and saw Beauty for Ashes on Unilocal with an excellent review! Called and there was an opening, which was good because Erin spent 2.5 hours making sure the color I wanted turned out perfectly (went from platinum highlights to a cool dark blond). She was very personable and recommended a treatment to help my color stay longer, etc.
The ambiance is very nice, and they do makeup, manis, and pedis as well. It is very conveniently located in SoHo Homewood. The only reason it’s not 5 stars for me is partially my fault. I didn’t ask how much everything was going to be, and I was kind of floored that a minimal trim and color was $ 200.

I visited this salon for the first time and it was my first time to have color applied professionally. I was impressed. Jessica did a beautiful job with the color and cut. I love it! I have found my new home for my hair salon.

I LOVE this salon! We just moved to the area a couple of months ago and I was in desperate need of a hair cut and highlight touch up. I have thick, crazy long Asian hair and wanted a longer bob and Stephanie cut it perfectly! The highlights are wonderful as well… with past experiences, I’ve had many mixed results, so I’m always worried when I go to a new stylist… she knew just what to do! The salon was pretty busy for me 230 appt… which is always nice to see. I also grabbed the discount on Unilocal,which saved me 20! The overall price was worth it… I’ve had much more expensive cuts/​color that were so disappointing. Stephanie was awesome to talk to as well. I highly recommend! I will be back soon!

I visited Beauty for Ashes for the first time this afternoon. David cut my hair and he did an excellent job. He is professional, attentive and a talented stylist. I love my short haircut. It’s feminine and looks exactly like I wanted. I am very pleased and will definitely be coming back.

Hillary did a great job taking me from long, long hair to a medium/​short length with no stress. I love my new cut! The salon is cute but professional and in a great location. The online booking was easy and I could make an appointment outside of hours. This was my first experience with this salon. I will be going back for my next cut/​color!

David Beck has been my doing my hair for 14 years– he’s a first class stylist who takes care of you, personally listens, and has the utmost pride in his work. He is a friend (I joke it’s the longest relationship I’ve had with anyone since living in DC!) but more importantly a professional when it comes to your style needs. Whether it’s a cut or color — event hair (wedding, photo shoot, etc.) or blowout– he is your go-​to. I highly HIGHLY recommend him. He’s great with all hair types. I have referred several friends throughout the years to David all with varying hair types. Oh and he isn’t a product pusher– but since seeing him I’ve fallen in love with the organic Kevin Murphy products he uses.
Since he recently moved to Homewood, AL I am literally considering flying down to get my haircut! Ladies and gents, he’s the BEST.

Today was my first time getting my hair done at this salon. David was my stylist and he was great! Super sweet took his time and really tried to make my vision a reality. The atmosphere was wonderful and everyone had a smiling face. The whole experience lasted a little longer than I would have liked. I tried to be understanding because they were slammed which is understandable considering the fact that everyone in this studio is truly passionate about what they are doing! The owner Stephanie is very sweet and patient. Not to mention does some beautiful braid work. I really do believe I have found my salon!

I’ve been putting off getting my hair colored for a year now; it’s always tough finding a new salon that will deliver great results without forfeiting your entire wallet. I for one have been doing my own bottled blonde for years but being no professional, the warm hues were clashing with my pale skin. I read another review about Hillary, praising her for being a great colorist and taking out the warm hues in her hair. Voila! Exactly what I was looking for. I called the salon for an appointment b/​c another review said the online booking had issues; I had no issues booking over the phone quick and easy. The salon is small, trendy and I dug the vibe. Turns out Hillary is a color super star, delivering exactly what I wanted. I have very fine hair but a lot of it so it took about 2.5 hours and she used multiple colors and low lights. The end cost: $ 99 before tip, which I thought was very reasonable (multicolored full highlights, wash and blow dry). Very happy to have found this gem. I should note, the only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was b/​c that rating is reserved for ‘blowing my mind’. Beauty For Ashes Salon comes pretty darn close though.

Love this salon! My regular stylist, Jessica, whom I love was on vacation so I was scheduled with David Beck. He immediately put me at easy and was wonderful! My color looks great and I LOVE my cut and blow-​out. If you’re looking for someone who has been in the business a while, someone who is personable, someone who loves to style hair… call this salon and book an appointment with David.

Hilary did a fantastic job on my color. I’m super picky and wanted to get rid of the yellow and too warm tones. She did a 3-​color hi/​lowlight. It’s the best color I’ve had in a long time… maybe ever-​lots of depth.

Loved my stylist that I had and the products but it seems a bit unorganized. I have trouble booking appointments. Also tried to get a giftcard but couldnt because the receptionist wasn’t there. I have gone to another salon twice because of these issues. Sad because it seems like a great place with a lot of potential:)

I first chose Beauty for Ashes mainly for their location and because the extended hours advertised online fit my schedule. I’m so glad I did!
After a brief consultation and spa-​worthy shampoo, Mayela applied her talents to correct a horrific haircut I’d received elsewhere. She also offered great tips for continuous tress improvement. To end, she gave me a perfect gel mani!
Stephanie, the owner, and Mayela are genuine, lovely women with incredible skills and true passion for their profession. I cannot wait to try the other services at Beauty for Ashes. I will be back!

It’s pretty difficult to find someone who will give my teenaged son a haircut. Because he has 3 cowlicks, most stylists usually just give him a close shave job.
Mayela did a great job of cutting it! He actually looks like he has a real haircut. I was so impressed with what she did with him. Stephanie (the owner) came by and did a little more trimming… just enough weight to hold down the licks. He looks like a real college student now.
I encourage you to give them a try if you want something new and fresh.
