The best part of the trip!!! The owner was so kind and welcoming and a Jersey gal! The food was the best and interesting combinations. Eggs Benedict w Lobster, i am dreaming about it. Place clean, neat and friendly and prices reasonable for basic meals. You must try it! Deb

Loved the Starting Gate! For my first trip, I ordered a blueberry pancake short stack. The pancakes had TONS of real blueberries in them. No skimping there, folks. The second time around, I ordered the Sassa Omelet. It is a sausage and cheese omelet with sausage gravy on top served with potatoes and your choice of bread. This is something to order if you’ve really got an appetite. Their gravy is delicious. My family(except for me) all ordered the biscuits and gravy and loved them. Don’t forget to get a slice of their blueberry cobbler. You won’t be sorry!

The best, and more or less only breakfast joints in town. If you’re looking for the true Homosassa experience make sure to order the fried mullet and grits, A true southern specialty. The atmosphere isn’t anything to write home about but it you’re only going to have one breakfast restaurant this might as well be the one. On a side note be prepared to wait on weekends.

Came into town to visit my brother. He took us to his favorite breakfast spot. Wow! The owner/wife was our server. Everyone at the table was addressed by their first name. Food came out quickly. My girlfriend ordered the western omelette and said it tasted great and was stuffed with ingredients. I had the Mexican omelette(fantastic) ! My brother and his girlfriend both got the Sassa omelette which I tasted and that was delicious as well. I also got the blueberry pancakes(fresh not frozen) and they were hot and tasty. My brother pointed out the other owner/husband on the way out working the grill. What a great team they make. This place gets it right and I couldn’t believe the customer service. P. S. To the guy(Whitey C.) who gave this business a two star rating, your a jerk! Evidently you have your allegiances elsewhere as your a local. BTW Whitey, $ 7.50 for an omelet is dirt cheap. Climb back under your scallop shell dude!

Great place for some local southern style cooking. We stop by every time we are in the area. The service is outstanding and the owner is often there working the front. My favorite is the fried mullet with cheese grits. The blueberry clobber is the best east of the Mississippi river. Don’t wait stop by soon.

Nice place. but a tad overpriced for what was set before me… Listed a «Greek Omlet» .asked about contents. Spinach and Feta Cheese at almost $ 7 .that sure is no Greek Omlet to me… That is a Spinach and Feta Omlet. Greek usually has Black Olives, Banana peppers, Onions, Feta cheese, and Sausage. Never seen a Greek Omlet with Spinach? But ordered the Western Omlet instead, which was borderline«Guess Me» on content and High on price. Doubt they will last as was the fate of last three operations in the same location.

Homemade biscuits, blueberry cobbler and sausage gravy. It was a family breakfast. We all had different items on the menu and everyone left very full and happy. Plus the wait staff was a hoot!

I enjoy fish for breakfast. Mullet for breakfast? Yes please. Good coffee, tasty spinach in my spinach and feta omelette, friendly service — it was all good. Lots of parking. A good choice for breakfast on the way to the water.

Good breakfast spot. We only got takeout but the service was good as was the food. We had a breakfast burrito(a bit small, made with only one egg, but with meat etc. too at $ 6.75) and two omelets with home fries. Nothing to write home about but overall a good value, friendly service.
