Usually only open for dinner on Thursdays, the Rabbit Room presents upscale food in a casual atmosphere. We shared a spinach salad, which was a light, tasty start along with some warm grainy bread. We made it easy for our server by both having a strip steak, which was a huge 16oz. Served with seasoned mashed potatoes and fresh seasonal veggies, the steaks were cooked to medium rare perfection. Shared a pecan torte for desert. Our server was attentive and did not rush us as we enjoyed our drinks. Nice live music was not too loud in the dining room, so we could talk across the table. The price of a meal and drinks was at the high end, but they offer sandwiches in the lounge. We don’t mind paying Toronto restaurant prices for good food and atmosphere, and this certainly met our expectations.

My friends have been talking about this restaurant for a while, so I went with very high expectations. At the end of the meal, I didn’t feel the expectations were met. I should start by saying that my dining companion told me she felt it was an off night for them, but I still had other issues with the place. First of all the location in an old mill in Honeoye Falls is gorgeous, it really cannot get more picturesque and lovely. The interior was nice, but not spectacular, it still fell cozy and warm in a cold winters day. There was live music playing, but I did feel it was too loud, our server got a few things wrong because he couldn’t hear us, and I could not follow the conversation with my friends because everything had to be repeated twice. I love live music, and I enjoy a good selection with my meal, but if it’s too loud, I can’t truly enjoy the company of my friends. Then there’s the food. We had a variety of appetizers, some were good(the salad with beets), some were missing something(the calamari), others felt heavy handed(the budino). My entrée was delicious, Duck breast served with duck confit in a blackberry sauce. We got dessert, and they were well made, I especially loved the goat cheese cheesecake, it was wonderful. I did feel though, that the menu wasn’t particularly different from other nice restaurants in Monroe County. You get the steak, the duck, the salmon, and the pasta dishes. The drink options also felt familiar, a choice of martinis. One thing that I like was the choice of wines and beers, although the list was not extensive, their choices were very good. All In all, although the meal was good, I didn’t feel it was so good to warrant a 30 minute drive for it. If I am in the area, or lived nearby, I would go to this place, but living in Downtown Rochester, I’d rather go to one of the many restaurants that are closer.

My visits to the Rabbit Room over the last year have been increasingly disappointing. The menu items are getting more standard(protein, mashed potatoes, haricot vert). The gnocchi is getting denser. The server I have had on a few visits was not very helpful or positive and often bumped into me while trying to clear the plates. At my last visit, the noise was so incredibly loud that I couldn’t hear my dining companions seated directly across from me. Even though some of their dishes are still well prepared, I can find comparable versions in downtown Rochester. If you live close to The Rabbit Room, it is definitely still a worthy special occasion place(as long as you are not too invested in having dinner conversation). Given the 25 minute drive, I am not sure I will be returning anytime soon.

What a great atmosphere. Very cozy. You can look at work by local artists while you wait for a table. Started out with warm freshly baked bread. Salad was also very fresh. I got the ribeye with mushrooms, mashed potatoes and broccoli and carrots. Meat was cooked perfectly at medium. Really enjoyed entrée. Topped it all off with crème Brule and it didn’t disappoint. Will definitely return.

Dinner: They’re open on Thursdays only for dinner. Not totally inconvenient, but ya still have to think about work the next day. Got the $ 50 Grand Prix, or something like that. 4 course meal; appetizer, salad, entrée, & dessert. Got the best & goat cheese salad. Nice enough lettuce, but the medley between the goat cheese and beets just missed the mark. Meh. The calamari was great. Loved how the breading crumbled of the rings. Delicate, tender, salty, delicious. The flank steak was a total disappointment. Small, devoid of marbling and texture. Bland. The mashed potatoes were good. If you like marzipan, you’ll like the almond tart. Whipped cream was nice & tasty. Also the flour-less chocolate pudding cake was very good. For the money, find somewhere else to go to dinner.

We had The Rabbit Room cater our wedding this past year at an off-site location with about 50 people, and I can unequivocally recommend them. Our family has a good mix of dedicated vegetarians and life-long omnivores, so it’s often no small task to appease everyone. But Rabbit Room had a great mix of options and was more than willing to customize requests to suit what we wanted. The planning was coordinated by Sara, who was delightful to work with for details and planning, and she did an amazing job coordinating space and cooking/serving equipment with the wedding venue. This too was no small task, since we lived halfway across the country and planned the entire thing remotely. Their staff did a fantastic job on the day of the event too. Setup, serving, and cleanup was all handled by the Rabbit Room crew, and they did a great job. A few months later, and we’re still getting messages from friends and family about how much they enjoyed the food.

Outstanding menu and presentation and service. Love this place because they source local and pay attention to details.

Rustic, low-key place with delicious food. Here for lunch on a Saturday. Everything we had was incredibly flavorful: curry carrot soup, French onion soup, grilled cheese special(simple concept, sophisticated execution), grilled chicken sandwich, flourless chocolate pudding cake. I would order each of those again, but want to come back to try the rest of the menu.

Service horrible. Server(male) spent more time outside smoking than indoors. If we needed something he was no where to be found had to ask other servers for help, first time visiting and last. Not satisfied.

Chipotle mayo on the fries &7 bridges pork loin(perfectly done) w/asparagus made for a great meal, the real gem at this place though is the wait staff — my water glass was never empty & pint glasses were replenished quickly –even though the place is packed with tonight’s band — a really friendly place to dine!

A very nice destination for Mothers’ Day brunch. Quite a large selection of delicious food, served buffet style. The setting was charming and the service was quick and attentive without being overly familiar and chatty(which is a pet peeve of mine). We also had a couple of scrumptious Bloody Mary’s. The food was well seasoned and plentiful with a nice selection of small bite desserts. To be honest I’m not a big fan of buffets but I found The Rabbit Room to have a nice ambiance which kept a classy distance from the feeding trough mentality of typical Sunday brunch fare. Well done!

The Rabbit Room’s rustic charm isn’t trying too hard. A perfect balance of casual elegance. I have been to several events hosted here and the food is always fresh & delicious. The desserts are creative(try the goat cheese cheesecake) and the wine/beer list well thought out with something for everyone. I appreciate that they serve locally brewed beers from Honeoye Fall’s CB Craft Brewers. A gorgeous location for parties and perfect place for a date night out. Dinner & live music on Thursdays. Wednesdays they offer an open mic night and the art gallery on location is a small but well curated bonus!

My nephew and I dined at the Rabbit Room last week based on the recommendation of Unilocal reviewers. I enjoyed a well prepared martini from the bar as we walked and looked at the art. We both selected the four course meal. I was very excited to try the orange and fennel salad but was disappointed as it was somewhat bland. The appetizer, mushroom ravioli was wonderful. We both ordered filet for our main course. My nephew’s steak arrived as ordered, medium rare, but my steak was rare to medium rare. I had ordered it prepared medium well. I am not a big meat eater so I gave it to my nephew. He devoured both steaks and pronounced them perfect. The chef selected an almond desert. It was good but nothing special. I must say the service was exceptional; hostess, bartender, and servers.

Really memorable gnocchi, fluffy and tender. Once you’ve eaten these you have a standard by which to judge all others, forever. The room is a very cool old mill, lovingly shellacked from pillar to post, floor to ceiling. Exactly the kind of place you dream of finding by the road in the countryside. The paintings, photography and crafts in the upstairs gallery are made by local artists, if the food was also locally sourced, more overtly farm to table, the restaurant would be worth driving to purposefully instead of just finding as a one time pleasant enough experience.

I’ve been to the Rabbit Room a few times now and have yet to be disappointed with the food or service. I have also been to events that they have catered and they were extremely well-run with delicious food. I would definitely recommend going to the Rabbit Room.

We’ve been here for dinner, and for a couple of wedding receptions. The food is outstanding. Set in an old mill, the inside is exposed beams and limerock walls. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about wines, which was nice. The only complaint I have is that the parking lot is on the small side for the number of tables. We ended up parking on the street. They are only open to the public on Thursday evenings. The rest of the time they do private parties. It is definitely worth making a trip out. The live music the night we were there was perfect. A solo guitar player that could be heard throughout the place, but wasn’t so loud that he overpowered the room.

Oh dear. The reviews made me believe that this was a sort of culinary destination. Nothing was awful, but it isn’t worth making the pilgrimage from downtown Rochester. A ton of our food(salad, two sandwiches) was overly salted. The«blueberry lemon» cake did not appear to have blueberries or be flavored with lemon. Overall, the food was on par with someplace like Magnolia’s. It was kind of a fun field trip. But if I were going to do that kind of thing again, I’d probably bite the bullet and drive to the NYWCC in Canandaguia(which is very good!) or try someplace in Geneva. Honestly, this deserves more like 2.5 stars. Maybe dinner is better — we had lunch.

The Rabbit Room has never disappointed me. Only serving dinner on Thursday nights, it’s terribly inconvenient to plan the trek to Honeoye Falls on a weeknight, but it’s always been worth it. I’m updating my review to describe our most recent visit, about one month ago. The rustic elegance of the Rabbit Room cannot be overstated. Every time I visit, I’m surprised by the sense of relaxation and comfort that the atmosphere imparts — live, unobtrusive jazz music, cozy twinkling white lights, high ceilings and impeccable service. Our server last month was spectacular and rattled off the specials with enthusiasm. We chose some of our favorite appetizers — the Parisien gnocchi and pork belly. Both were absolutely delicious, as they have been in the past. The Parisien gnocchi is nothing like Italian gnocchi. Small delicate piece of pasta flash fried and served with onions and mushrooms, it’s a signature dish that I highly recommend trying. They offer the gnocchi as an entrée as well. I’m not a pasta person and I can’t resist ordering this every time. The pork belly was also near perfect. Paired with roasted apples that tamed the savory and crispy delights of the belly skin, it was tender and ideally portioned. For dinner we split a flank steak special — it was served with melted crumbled bleu cheese and a fried egg. Out of this world! We’ve had the filet and the tenderloin before, but this was probably the best steak we’ve had there. Rabbit Room uses Seven Bridges meat and delivers it with consistency. What sets the Rabbit Room apart from other restaurants in the area is that the meal never feels hassled, hurried or rushed. The dining room can get crowded, but it’s never been very loud. It’s shabby chic, modern and stylish without feeling impersonal and glib. There’s a farm-to-table feel, not a trendy-NYC-feel. The food has also been consistently outstanding — last month was my 6th visit in two years. Remarkable value. Haven’t tried lunch. I’d vote this the best restaurant in Rochester for a date. I love it!

Honeoye Falls is charming, the building is also… too bad all the scenery is on the side and rear, while the deck faces the road. We started with a bowl of the soup o’ the day… pasole, hominey, beef, the tomato and avocado pieces could have been bigger to stand up to the size of the beef and hominey, the broth was super satisfying and rich also the quiche o’ the day… broccoli cheddar, delicious flavor silken consistency, flakey golden crust. then Crab Cake Salad, pan fried choice blue crab and old world spices with citrus greens and cajun mustard… was delicious, but they were the most petite crab cakes I ever have seen. Mostly crab though. and the Beet Salad, baby arugula with roasted golden and candy striped beets, mandarin oranges, pistachios, crumbled goat cheese and orange vinaigrette… good, standard, beets a bit over soft. Mill Burger-8oz Seven Bridges Farm, all natural ground beef topped with creamy blue cheese and shallot dip, served on artisan roll w/lettuce, tomato and red onion… was cooked to order and the best sandwich we ordered. The Blue cheese topping was plentiful and bite-alocious. Usually I reserve the Reuben test for diners but waaa waaa the reuben sogged out. The bread was good even for the sog, the corned beef was thin and tender. Too light on the sauerkraut and for goodness sake, squeeze it first. Rabbit room melt, smoked turkey, avocado, tomato, cheddar cheese and honey mustard on toasted whole wheat… was so/so. Grilled Chicken Ciabatta, grilled chicken breast served on toasted ciabatta with boursin cheese, roasted red pepper, pesto mayo and field greens was also so/so. Not much flavor here other that the roasted red pepper. Pulled Pork, Seven Bridges Farm pulled pork slathered with tropical bbq sauce, topped with coleslaw on toasted roll… was standard, the coleslaw didn’t really have a tang, I’m not sure what made the bbq sauce tropical. One glaring thing was that the size of the Turkey sandwich and the Reuben appeared much larger than the other dishes. Wrapped it up with the seasonal crème brûlée, which was cherry and it was tasty. Turtle cak, dark chocolate cake torted with dark chocolate frosting, caramel and pecans was moist and chuck full of caramel and pecans. Berry Frangipane Tart, homemade sweet crust with almond berry filling and apricot glaze was the stand out favorite of the ladies. The almond was just perfect! I regret that I went for lunch and wasn’t blown away, will have to revisit for sinner when they can be more creative.
