I went to Mane Creations to have my hair done for a wedding. I had never been there before, but a friend recommended it. Usually I go to The Lodge at Woodloch to have my hair done and cut by Emily and she is AMAZING. However, she was doing the hair for the bride and bridal party for the wedding I was attending, and I had to venture elsewhere. Let me just start off with this: I went to a different wedding in March and had Emily do my hair. I had it done and then drove three hours to the Ritz Carlton in Philadelphia to go to the wedding. My hair lasted the entire evening, I received many compliments on it, and we danced the night away and had a wonderful time. I walked in(a side door) to Mane Creations and was assigned to a young girl with blonde hair. She said she didn’t know how much they could accomplish with hair because it is so fine, but she would try. After putting a pound of product in my hair to attempt a french braid that twists into a bun at the back of my head, I realized this was not going to go well. She was messy and inexperienced. My hair looked like a child had been practicing on her doll. I asked for something easier instead. After applying more unnecessary product to my hair, she attempted the next picture I had brought: my hair was to be half up with a horizontal braid across the back and the bottom half was down and curled. She tried to poof up the front which resulted in my resembling a lion. Also, she pinned up the curls that were to be kept down because she said they wouldn’t last long because of my hair type and that I should take them out of the pins right before I left for the wedding. I wasn’t too excited, but I left with a smile and left the girl a 20% tip because I thought that was the nice thing to do. When I took the pins out at home, my hair didn’t even move. It was one frizzy clump of no-longer-curled hair. Also, the product in the front of my hair had dried up and it looked like I had an excessive amount of dandruff. I called the salon at 2pm to see if something could be done(the wedding was at 3:30pm) and they said they could take me back at 5:30pm at the earliest. At this point I requested a refund and they said the owner would call me back the next day. The wedding was on Friday. Teresa didn’t call Saturday so I left a voicemail on Sunday. She called me back on Monday offering me 25% off of my next service there. Five phone calls later, she said that the girl who did my hair said I had never intended on taking the curls back down(which was the entire point of the hairdo) and that she had never given a full refund before and wasn’t about to start because legally she didn’t have to. I told her how extremely disappointed I was in not only the skills of her hairdresser, but in the customer service I had received and that I would not like 25% off of my next service because I was not planning on returning. In fact, I told her I had half of a mind to write this all in a review so that people would know what they were getting into and be able to avoid this same issue. At this point, she accused me of slander(which is when someone tells a lie to ruin a reputation) and threatened to get her lawyer involved. She said she would refund me half of my service and said she was«just done with this». In the end, I had to wash my hair and wear it down for the wedding and we had a great time. But I will never go back there again.

For two months I’ve been wearing hats and crying because Meagan at Mane Creations destroyed my hair. I had gone there for 2 yrs to Jess and when she left Meagan drew skunk stripes in my hair, left big bleach zigzags on the top of my head, lied and said they’d fade, and then she hacked off huge disconnected chunks of my hair. I walked home without crying and called the owner, Teresa, who was very nice at first and told me to come right back in. After having to convince Teresa that there was indeed a problem with my horrible hair(it was so bad my boyfriend actually noticed) and making her walk outside to see it in daylight, Teresa fixed most of the color in the front and put a toner on it, but then left Meagan to hack away at it again! Meagan clearly doesn’t know what she’s doing, and Teresa couldn’t be bothered to stick around an make sure it was fixed. I left again, politely but with some tears and called and left a message that I still needed to talk to Teresa. I had been growing my hair for 4 years down my back and the front was hacked off to my chin, my bangs stood out straight from my head b/c they were so short, and she DIDN’T CUTTHEBACKATALL so I was just accumulating more split ends. Teresa avoided me like the plague, and didn’t call me back until I started showing up at the salon looking for her. Eventually I got one voicemail, SCOLDING me for not being happy, that my hair looked fine, and saying that I left happy, so that’s that. I didn’t leave happy, as my contacting her showed. I left without causing a scene or screaming at her poor receptionists who couldn’t do anything. Apparently, Teresa would prefer that I acted like an animal instead of trying to work it out with her first. I gave them chance after chance to make things right. To fix the hair, as much as it could be fixed considering what was hacked off, or to provide a little customer service. I paid over a hundred dollars, which I never got a bit of back, and had years of haircare destroyed. I had been a faithful customer for 2 years, and this was how they behaved. They suggested Meagan to me, never told me she was very new to the industry, and charged me for a fully experienced stylist. A few weeks later, I heard of an acquaintance who ended up going to Meagan at the salon’s suggestion and had a terrible experience as well. Bad bad service, which is a shame, because I know that there are some good stylists there too, like Colleen, but Teresa’s behavior ensured that I will never go back there. On the upside, I’m now going to Melissa at Jeannie’s Chapel Street Salon who was able to save the mess of my hair, fix the cut and the stripes that Teresa and Megan had left in the back of my head. I’m very happy with her, and recommend anyone to try Melissa.
