I love the Stourbridge Line. My whole life we’ve gone on excursions. They have a train robbery in the summer, holiday trips, even wine themed trips. Last summer I went for the first time since college and had a lovely day in a very old passenger car out to the Zane Grey Museum and Roebling Bridge in Lacawaxen with interactive musicians on the train and fun history facts about the line. This year I was very sad to find that the funding hadn’t been found to run this summer. I encourage everyone to let the town know of our love and support for the train rides, and try to get them back for next year.

Little known fact: secretly, the Poconos are a steampunk PARADISE! The 1stUS steamtrain was the Stourbridge Lion, and the replica that used to sit in the Smithsonian now resides next to Main St., Honesdale. Climb around on that one, take some pics in costume, then take a short but sweet train ride here, supporting a rough area’s economy AND your fantasies simultaneously! Wheee! For some reason, as a kid I managed to wrangle a free ride every year by volunteering with the local boy scouts. I know Im TECHnically a girl but. ok, fine, I did it for the free railroad cap! Excursion map from Honesdale, through White Mills&Hawley, and on to Lackawaxen
but the schedules are actually best seen from the Wayne County tourist site here:
