2012 Honolulu AIDS Walk at Kapiolani Park

Got together with 12 friends and joined with Team Unilocal Hawaii. We all dressed as pirates!!! Arghhhhh!!! What a great cause to create awareness and generate donations! Loved the Unilocal Team and walkin with friends today around Kapiolani Park. This is for year 2015.

The Life Foundation is the largest provider of HIV-​related care and prevention services on the island. This organization has over 700 women, men, and children who use their services. This organization also provides meals, groceries, home assistance, and financial assistance. This organization offers free HIV testing with results in 15 minutes.
This annual walk helps support this organization. It’s a great opportunity to gather together as a community to remember the people who lost the battle to AIDS, work together to help others know about prevention, and show our support for those who are living with it. The walk was an easy leisurely 3k walk around Kapiolani Park.
Along the walk there were different types of entertainment. There were cheerleaders doing back flips on the grass. The Tekniqlingz crew showed their skills and their support. Andy South from project runway was cheering on walkers as well. Cute little girls were dancing and showing how flexible they are by easily doing splits. High school students sacrificed their morning to cheer on walkers with decorated signs and catchy cheers.
Parking:
I highly suggest coming early. I choose to park at Kapiolani Community College. I arrived at KCC at 8:05 am and didn’t get to the event a few minutes past 9 am (the walk started at 9). There was only 1 trolley taking people to the event. I sadly didn’t get to walk with my fellow Unilocalers :(
Registration
Registration was a breeze on line and free. You could email people with a link to your own page to help raise funds.
I can’t wait till next year walk to participate. Especially for the red ribbon pre party before the walk. I’ll be sure to come in extra early so I can walk with the other Unilocalers.
