There’s an «under renovation» sign up & another sign saying«Teishoku A Japanese Restaurant coming soon» posted on the window so 7A Yakitori & Curry was a really short stint. Did not get to try the curry but 7A’s Yakitori was a nice alternative to have every once in awhile. Maybe Teishoku will be more my speed. Would be nice to see Ebi Gratin or Battleship Curry on the menu… Japanese dishes I’d like to try but am just too lazy to make at home. Dreaming again.

Walked in on a whim, and the girl at the counter was very friendly– that’s one star automatic. And it’s a nice clean bright store. But the food received made me feel like I wasted $ 11 and a chance to have something good for dinner. I got a Yakitori combo plate which was two kebabs of chicken and two of steak, one large scoop of rice and once small generic salad. First the good: the salad was yummy. And the rice was definitely made with care and not just thrown together. But the chicken kebab was probably the worst quality chicken I’ve had in a stick– think Chicken Satay with extra extra fat. And the steak kebab tasted good until you chewed on it… Then you realized that the steak is probably the lowest grade steak they could find with a fairly high fat content. Maybe some of you like your steaks chewy like bubble gum, but I hate it and it really ruined the experience. If the proteins were of much better quality I would come back, but after this experience I’m really not willing to waste my gastronomic experiences here until others say the establishment has improved.

My first time here on the recommendation of my husband. My review is based solely on their yakitori, I did not try their curry. The cashier was friendly and enthusiastic. I chose the 2 choice yakitori combo plate which was under $ 10. I picked garlic chicken and sausage with quail eggs. The garlic chicken was LOADED with garlic, I love this but for most people it might be too strongly flavored. The chicken was moist, rich, and perfectly cooked. The sausage was your average supermarket hot dog, but seasoned well with salt and pepper. The quail eggs were done decently, which was appreciated since they overcook easily. The portion size was nice and big, but I ate everything. I would definitely come here again for a quick plate lunch. A good option for a decent fast food meal.

We were in the area when we stumbled upon this new place. Heads up from September 19– October 19, every plate you order you can get a side of teriyaki yakitori chicken(2 sticks) for $ 1. The menu has a lot of different items from curries to different types of yakitori. They even have quail eggs! We ordered a chicken katsu curry plate and garlic yakitori chicken. The yakitori plates come with rice, salad, an has 4 sticks! My mom really enjoyed her katsu plate. The garlic chicken reminded me like Giovanni’s garlic butter sauce so it was interesting. But it was too oily for me. Overall the side teriyaki yakitori was the winner of the day. The cashier was really friendly. She came up to us and thank us for coming in.

I like that there’s a curry house in The Kamehameha shopping center. The first time I’ve heard of this place was through via email from The Kamehameha shopping center newsletter. So I figured I’ll give this place a try. The Restaurant is located in between Bale and Yummys. As soon as you walk in, you’re being greeted, which is always a plus! The workers/staff here are nice and polite. The restaurant is very clean. Food: The menu is divided. On one side you have your Curry dishes and on the next, you have your Yakitori dishes. It makes ordering much easier. *Garlic Chicken Plate — I liked their Yakitori Chicken. The plate is served with four skewers of Chicken, Scoop Rice and Tossed Green Salad w/dressing. The minced garlic and butter was just perfect for my liking, especially when the garlic butter is all over the rice. *Hamburger Steak Curry Plate — I love curry so I had to try their Hamburger Curry. The plate was served with four Hamburger Patties, two scoops of rice and a blanket of curry. It was alright, it would’ve been a little better if it was homemade style patties. *Spring Rolls — The rolls comes in four and it was pretty ono. If you’re ever in the neighborhood, give this place a try!

The Yakitori Combos are great. Everything is made fresh and hot when ordered so the wait time is a little longer than other places but worth the wait.

This place is as plain as it gets. I am not a fan of Japanese style curry or curry from coco ichibanya curry house. This what this place taste like. I ordered the hamburger steak curry with spicy chicken yakitori at a price of 13.50. The food is good but was not to my expectation at that price. 9.95 should have been the price. The curry was definitely made using premade curry roux blocks sold in super markets. The hamburger steak seems factory made and very consistent in shape size. Knowing these two the price should have been cheaper. The yakitori threw me off. What I expected was binchotan grill flavored chicken stick. What I got was smokeless chicken grilled on a flat top. If continue selling at that price, i would suggest changing a few things. Curry could have vegetables, hamburger hand formed, yakitori that has smoke grilled flavor or just call it a bbq stick. Or keep everything and drop the price. Overall, food is good but not worth its price.

I ordered their 3 choice combination which charges extra if you add certain items, which seemed like everything. For choice selections I got beef stick, fried chicken wings, and mochiko chicken. My tab came out to $ 15 which is a bit pricey for 3 items that didn’t pack the plate. The beef stick was bland there was no salt or pepper seasoning on it. Making it ok but towards the ending I could taste the gross beef odor. The mochiko chicken was actually pretty good. I would come back for the the mochiko chicken. The fried chicken wing was interesting. It was regular fried chicken wings but there was a different and unusual taste(in a good way) which make me want to get it again because of curiosity to what it is. It’s located in the old Kam drive inn so interior still the same. The inside was clean also. The cashier that was helping me was really nice and answered all my questions with a smile.

Newly opened place at Kamehameha shopping center next to Ba Le. They specialize in Japanese type of curry similar in taste to curry house. Taste wise it follows regular mild spicy Japanese curry. There are several combinations to their menu items. I had the shabu shabu beef curry with two chicken yakitori sticks; this combo clocks in at about $ 13.50, no drinks. I give this place three and a half stars… it checks all the boxes for curry and the common standard condiments. A comment about the differences in this shabu shabu beef and that from Curry house is that Curry House cooks the beef in the curry itself longer to infuse the flavor into the beef. The amount of curry sauce they give is generous and able to saturate the the two large rice balls. I’ll have to come back and try out their other combos. They do accept credit cards but their current system ties into their one phone line so the machine won’t work if they are taking a phone order.
