Abe Rodriguez-Nueve Salon & Spa

There are no words to describe the experience I had today with Abe at Nueve Salon. This has got to be the best hair color, cut, style I have ever had in my life. Definitely recommend! You will not be disappointed!

I am one happy customer! I was hesitant to try a new place but decided after reading the reviews to give it a try. I’m really glad I did. Abe did an excellent job, is reasonably priced and wants to be sure you are satisfied. I plan on becoming a regular.

I had a groupon type of thing for this, which is why I tried him. My gift certificate was for a cut and color.
I had to call a couple to times when making my appointment to finally reach him. When I came in, he had forgotten about the appointment and had already left. The person at the salon called him on his cell phone and I waited around (very patiently) for him to arrive.
We never had a proper consultation and I felt very rushed and pushed. I told him that I kind of wanted to go a little red, but that I also wanted shine. He told me to just go with a dark one color. He did not engage me or ask me more about the color or show me swatches or give me options. I felt like I was taking up his time.
He finally warmed up and was a bit friendlier and more engaging towards the end of the cut. The cut was pretty decent. Again, the consultation and personal attention was lacking here. It was a good cut, but really generic and he never took the time to find out what I really wanted so that the cut could be more personalized.
I think that he is technically very good, and perhaps I caught him at a bad time (he did tell me that he was in the middle of opening his own salon and was busy working there trying to get the place ready). But as the customer, I really expected something more, and was disappointed that I was made to feel like I was impinging on his time.

Worst cut I have ever had. Maybe it’s that my hair is short, and it’s not something he is able to do. it is horrendous. He used only a single razor blade… never even took a pair of scissors into his hands. The salon is dark very poor lighting. NEVER AGAIN.

Abe is an amazing stylist! Prior to Abe, it was a struggle trying to find someone who I completely trusted with my hair. Abe’s expertise, patience, and pride in his work make him superior to all other stylists. Not to mention, he’s a lot of fun to talk to!
I’ve gone to him for all-​over color, highlights, and haircuts. Each and every time, I have been very satisfied with the results. If there’s something that you aren’t completely satisfied with, he will tirelessly fix it for you, no questions asked. If you’re looking for a stylist to make you look your best, I HIGHLY recommend seeing Abe.

Love my hair! Abe did a spectacular job on straightening my hair. My hair is as stubborn as it comes and it always comes out great with Abe. I made the mistake of going somewhere else to get the new growth restraightened. What a bad idea! I will make sure to always go back to Abe so that he can do it right.

Abe is the only stylist I trust with my long locks. He is consistent, fair, and fun to spend the time with too. Genesis Salon validates parking, and everything is clean and beautiful. I made the horrible mistake of letting a friend work on my hair, and the only person who could fix it was ABE. I hesitate to write this review because I don’t want to share him (LOL!!), but really, stylists like Abe who are talented and unpretentious are worth their weight in gold.

Abe totally rocks! He’s someone who you can trust –you’re just not another face in his chair. He actually listens to you — what you want, what you’ve done to your hair, what your hair habits are. The more you tell him, the happier you’ll be in the end. It’s obvious he takes great pride in his work, because not only will you end up looking great when you leave – but you’ll LOVE your hair!
One of the highlights of an appointment is the fact that Abe gives the BEST head massage! If I could, I would come in everyday for a wash; just to have him massage my head. BLISS!

Abe was amazing. He just took my frizzy hair and transformed it into a beautful new style. Thanks Abe! You’re amazing.

First off, let me thank J K for letting me know it was above the French restaurant. You saved me five minutes and a bucket of sweat perusing the Medical Arts Building. And to you Unilocalers, thank you too for finding me a great stylist!
Me and a friend had originally planned on booking an appointment with another stylist but it fell thru when the owner wasn’t available to do our hair. Not to sound pretentious and snobby, but I’d prefer the owner or director do my hair than a stylist. The reason for that is, they succeeded enough to open THEIR own salon and they have that credibility.
Abe I believe is not the owner or Genesis Salon, but because I had read the few five star reviews he has, and was nearby my workplace, I decided to check him out. I called, left a voicemail, and Abe promptly returned my call. I scheduled an appointment, and two hours later was entering the salon with my friend.
Now, for my consultation, I had recently had a cut and color done at Premier at Sears with Sonya. I had asked to go brown, but it really didn’t make a dent on my black hair. Damn. So wanting a softer appearance for personal and work, I had wanted to do a full head color but to the suggestion of Abe, highlighting might have been better.
Sadly, it is not better. It is worse. I look like I belong in a gang with big baggy denim and a wife-​beater to match. The red undertones show thru, the tips are too light, and there is no uniformity with the hightlights. The trim on the otherhand, miraculous. He definitely helped to clean up the uneven unsightly hair from my previous cut and I love the fact that he doesn’t use a clipper. Nor did I see one in my sight.
Abe had mentioned to me that he’ll fix it, and I will have to take him up on that offer. But other than that, love the trim. He’s a fun person to talk to and a great stylist.

I loooove the color. He was great with offering suggestions and helping me think my cut and color through. My cut is now playful, color vibrant and it seriously feels far more healthy and smooth from before I walked in.
Also, Hooray to the Unilocaler special. Free cut with color??? Love it!

Abe has been cutting and styling my hair for over 8 years. I call him Merlin cause he does magic with your hair. We have done almost everything to my hair from straight perms to wild color streaks. I love everything he does to my hair. The only problem is he can’t style and blow dry my hair everyday before I go to work.
