Service: Service is exactly what you’d expect from a Chinese restaurant. Efficient and quick.(2⁄2) Food: Food was very good and, again, exactly what you’d expect. The Peking Duck was very good, lemon chicken was mostly chicken(and not just batter like some other places), and other foods were very flavorful.(2⁄2) Other: Parking is great around dinner time, for there aren’t too many restaurants in the mall. The bathroom was also pretty clean.(1⁄1)

Im reluctant to give low reviews to any business, because sometimes freak awful experiences happen, yet this place deserves it. Its clear what happened was not a random situation. Im surprised by positive experiences reported by other Unilocalers. I went there twice, because twice in one week my 95 year old grandpa wanted to go, and his usual chinese place was closed. Sure, this is a chop-suey place, so my expectations for service are pretty low to begin with,… But even the lowest of expectations will be shattered by the rude and inattentive customer service this place delivers. Long waits for ordering, longer waits to receive food. Incorrect food brought to table. Some food never made it at all. Hair in food? I didnt order hair. Rude looks from wait staff. I didnt even bother complaining, it was clear they didnt care what anyone thought anyway. Im not complaining about the food, because it is par for chop suey. Greasy, heavy. Some may like it that way, so it is not a basis of my low review. If you like grease, then maybe get their take out, to minimize your service experience. Grandpa loved the oil, but even he agreed the service was bad. I admit the cake noodles were fair, and earned an additional star. The second time i went(again, 95 year old grandpa insisted) was $ 80 for grandpa and the rugrats. Tip was minus 15%. I really should have collected a payment myself, for the food with hair in it, and the 90 minutes it took to receive and experience«dinner» at this place. Avoid dine-in. Check food for hair. Sorry grandpa, never again.

I’ve had a few different samplings from the menu, and everything has been fresh, hot and delicious. The dine-in service is quick and friendly, and I haven’t had to wait for a table yet. I plan to try as many menu items here as I can. Excellent spot!(Also has plenty of free parking)

I go here for dinner two or three nights a week! They are so accommodating and friendly! I have a bad reaction to MSG and have to be careful about consuming too much of it. Management really bends over backwards in helping me deal with this problem. Whatever dish I order, they make sure no sauces are used. If the meat has been marinated, they actually rinse or boil to remove as much of the Msg traces as possible. They try to remove or not add cornstarch — another baddie for me! They are a little more expensive than some other Chinese Restaurants, but they are definitely worth it!

We love it here. They are such kind people who run this restaurant and their food is really good! I gave them 5 stars due to the fact that we’re just so thankful for a solid neighborhood Chinese restaurant with clean food and super friendly service.

«I love to eat here because they have great music and it’s nice and clean* The food is so good that I have extra to take home for later on. I will certainly bring my friends here because the people are very friendly and attentive.

This restaurant is the best! As soon as we showed up, we were given a table and ordered right away. Our food literally came out no more than five minutes later. It was well cooked and tasted delicious. It was really encouraging to be able to walk into a restaurant and have everything go perfectly. The staff was overly friendly, the food was fast and tasty, and we didn’t have to wait a second for a table. All their systems were spot on! If I lived in Hawai’i, I’d be here all the time!

We love this place! The honey walnut shrimp, salt & pepper shrimp(no shell), gon lo mein, kau yuk,… Oh heck. We love everything! The kau yuk isn’t the red one some places have. This is the real kine! Their food comes out fast and hot. Service is with a smile and very helpful if you dunno what to order. If you haven’t tried this place… Give it a try and you won’t be sorry!

A late review but my experience with these guys should be known. Over the weekend, I setup a family gathering and I needed a last-minute catering for some food. Unilocal, didn’t really do a good job of searching Catering Services but this restaurant provides just that! Although this place doesn’t really catch any attention or doesn’t really stand out, the service they provided for my request was outstanding. I needed a couple of main dishes for about 30 people and the lady there made all the recommendations — Gon Lo Mein, Oyster Sauce chicken, and(can’t remember) Sweet beef. The party had waaaay too much food, but these were all gone in minutes! Good to know that they are near by, cause there are some sea food I’d like to try. Also, I need my fix for some cake noodle. Can’t wait! Thank you Chop Suey!!!

Walked in and ordered take out. This restaurant is very clean and modern looking. There were a few people waiting for their take out. Ordered the boneless minute chicken cake noodle, salt and pepper pork chops, honey walnut shrimp and lemon chicken(my grandson loves lemon chicken). Everything was delicious!!!

My dad and stepmother treated both family and long-time Aina Haina neighbors to dinner here, and it was a great evening. It’s a small restaurant, with only a few large tables and a handful of booths and tables… but that allows for more comfortable and intimate conversations than your average Chinese restaurant. And the service(including the owners) was warm and attentive, not nearly as surly as the typical attitude you’ll get elsewhere. The food kept coming and coming, easily ten courses, and there was not a dud in the mix. The Chinese chicken salad was perfectly refreshing, the steamed fish was light and delicate, there simply wasn’t enough of the cake noodle, and the Peking duck was the jewel of the meal. And I’ve missed quite a few other dishes. Definitely a gem in East Honolulu, and it may very well be worth the drive from town.

A good place for Chinese food. Conveniently located in the Aina Hina Shopping Center. Service was good and the staff was friendly. The restaurant is also kept clean. I had a family reunion of about 40 people here, and they got all the food out in good time. The food was also tasty. I’m not much of a duck fan, but their stuffed duck was very good.

My Mom used to tell me that if I didn’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. I have nothing to say about Aina Haina. Have a nice day! :-)

The best local neighborhood-style Chinese restaurant in town. Service is very friendly and they really make you feel like a regular customer. The restaurant is very clean. The food is very tasty. Everything on menu has been terrific so far. Our favorites are: Crispy gau gee(fried fresh to order and delicious) Minute chicken cake noodles(very tasty) Sweet and sour fried fish(ask for the sauce on the side) Walnut shrimp(perfectly done, not too much sauce) Chicken with broccoli, black bean sauce(perfectly cooked, not too much black bean) Steamed fish with green onions, ginger, and soy sauce Also, Julia and her staff are always happy to make a special dish based on what ingredients you like. They are always very flexible. Parking is plentiful too!

Hidden gem. I there every time I am in Hawaii. I had special requests. Perfect. Very authentic. Love all the veggies. Walnut Shrimp is done perfectly with not too much coating and sauce. Veggies are green and crisp. Server very nice and definitely great hidden gem.

A group of us walked over to Aina Haina Chop Suey for a quick lunch after we got done shopping at the nearby Holy Nativity Thrift Shop. The place was new looking, there were roughly six tables and it’s not too packed when we entered the restaurant. The area is on the quiet side so it was no surprise to see this strip mall not crowded. I like how the place is not too ornate since the décor is plain and subtle. Our waitress brought out the traditional teapot of hot tea after we ordered. A few of us decided on the won ton noodle soup as advertised on the menu. A couple of roast pork pieces looked really appetizing in the photo hung on the wall. The broth was tasty and not loaded with MSG while their egg noodles were larger than the typical thin Chinese egg noodles. It tasted fresh, yummy and the char-siu chunks weren’t bad, just a little dry but otherwise fine in the soup. They give you a lot of won-tons here; it was well-seasoned but kinda boring since it only had pork filling inside. Where is the shrimp? Won-ton without shrimp is not really won-ton. While this small casual eatery didn’t make a big impression on me, I don’t mind coming back to try other items on the menu. Our waitress was okay, she wasn’t the friendliest nor the most helpful person. It seemed to take a lot of effort on her part to answer a few questions. Maybe I will get lucky next time when I catch her on a good day.

I live in aina haina and I only decided to try this place maybe a week ago. I came with my boyfriend at maybe 11⁄1130 and we were the only people in there, I guess no one really likes to eat Chinese food so early in the morning. The guy that served was super nice and really attentive, already knew what we needed and wanted before we even asked(like extra silverware, tea, etc). We ordered the minute chicken cake noodle and the beef fried rice. Both of them were good and good quality and after I finished eating I didn’t feel super junk. It didn’t make my mouth leaving with that oily taste. My boyfriend also forgot his wallet there and didn’t realize it until the next day. And even before calling them or going there they must have seen his liquor card and called the restaurant we both work at because our manager texted my bf that his wallet was at aina haina chop suey. I thought it was such an extravagant gesture that the man went through the trouble to try to contact us anyway possible. There’s not too many good people out there anymore. I would definitely come back.
