Benefits By Design

First, what policy or policies did you have with Aflac at the time you suffered the loss? Accident? Hospital Indemnity?
Second, were you made aware by your Aflac agent that Aflac insurance does not reimburse you for hospital, surgical, or anesthesia bills? These plans are designed to pay a fixed amount of cash for certain «triggers» associated with sicknesses or in your case, injuries. This is where Aflac fits in… to help you with co-​pays, deductibles, and co-​insurance related to health insurance policies. It is NOT health insurance.
Third, your major medical health insurance plan is designed to pay for hospital, surgical, and anesthesia bills. I’m guessing you had no health insurance in force when you suffered your loss?
I’m thinking one of two things has happened here:
–Your Aflac agent did not properly explain the benefits to you. Or…
–You are mad that you had no health insurance in force at the time you suffered the loss
The language of all insurance policies is clear. In the future, READ YOUR POLICY to see what is covered and what is excluded. If Aflac were to pay above and beyond the covered benefits for every situation like yours, they would go out of business. The premiums on these plans cannot sustain such losses.
