I researched Indian lunch take-out within walking distance of my office and this one is tops for price/taste. Lamb plate for $ 8.95 and Veggie plate for $ 6.95($ 2 cheaper than the competition).

Went today and still very good. Yes, the regular price is about $ 8.50 but you get a pretty hefty plate with basmati rice and a small piece of naan. The naan is a little limp but it’s good to pick up all the scrumptious flavors of the entrees as well as the sauces. You can load up on tamarind, cucumber and/or yogurt sauces to add to your entrée(which I do). And included in the regular plate is a cup of chai tea. It’s not sweetened but it’s just straight tea and a nice touch. Oh and one thing. When they first started if you went there a little late in the lunch hour, you may have gotten some tepid food as they cook it at their main restaurant(Bombay Indian at Discovery Bay) and bring it in. They do not have a bona fide kitchen, just a sink area. But now they keep their sterno going and make sure your food is piping hot as they put it on the plate for you. I like some of Komala’s entrees(the Indian place at Remington College and Topa tower) better but overall I like Bombay especially because of the sauces you can pile on.

Like I said before: «Indian food is underrated and overpriced» — and this statement still holds true AND I will give it to Bombay Curry in a Hurry. I know Indian food pretty well — my ex-best friend was Indian and I grew up eating authentic Indian food. The food at Bombay Curry in no Hurry is good, on the brink of excellence but not quite there yet. Quantity is not that much by local standards or if you are a big eater. The price is on the high side. I remember having the chicken curry plate lunch along with 2 samosas(vegetable turnovers) and it comes up to be like $ 12 something — not cheap if you ask me. I think if there are more indian restaurants in Honolulu, competition will certainly drives the prices down. Let’s just hope that indian food will no longer become a luxury any more. Good to try — Chicken curry — very good — only white meat is used. Basmati rice — great Green Chutney — this is the sh*t Spinach curry — did not like it — there is tofu or some other stuff in there 5 stars for the quality of food and minus 1.5 stars for the«high» price and the«small» quantity by local standards.

I just ate there today for lunch after visiting my doctor, as a friend of mine alerted me of this place because I love curry. The food was really good, and apparently popular with the lunch crowd because I got there and the food was mostly gone. The chicken curry, and the veggie curry was to die for. The samosa was pretty good. The naan bread was good. The people that worked there were nice. I ordered the chicken combo plate with two additional choices and basmati rice($ 8.95). The Samosas are HUGE, and they are $ 2. It is as advertised, if you are in a hurry and want some curry, this is a good place and a welcome addition downtown. Next time I’m there, I want to try their kabobs and lamb curry, but like I said earlier, they look like they are getting good business, so better get there early.

pricey and the menu doesn’t match what they give you(regular plate should have had 2 veggie, i got 1)… over all food is ok, just maybe a $ 1 less would make it better…
