«MEETATTHESODAMACHINE» Ever since, ever since, we told our friends to «meet at the soda machine» right outside of the C Zukemura Store. I practically grew up hanging outside of that store. They had everything a kid needed to survive. There was an elderly couple that ran the store. They are so sweet and caring, they were our part-time grandparents. The little store had all the little important things«we», at the time, need and what our parents needed. I nick named that store, «The Magic Store» They had all the little and big magic trick sets. I believe the man who worked there is a magician teacher and he would have his students come in on the weekends for lessons. I never thought of joining his classes, but every time I saved up money, I would buy their card tricks or any other affordable magic tricks they had. I was always into magic and as a child I was even more intrigued. My younger sister would call it, «The Candy Store.» That store had every type of candy you could think of. If they didn’t have it, they would definitely get it for you. I loved going there after school or in-between playing with my friends for a small snack or some ice cream. I loved that they catered to us and made sure they had the popular candies of the moment. My parents called it, «The Convenient Store.» When we needed one more can of evaporated milk, or that ½ more cup of sugar my parents would tell us to run down to the convenient store and buy some. They had it all! All the necessary baking goods and groceries. Sometimes, they would have fresh fish from their children who go fishing. It was definitely a very memorable store. A lot of my childhood memories were made in the proximity of the store. Sadly, «Meet at the Soda Machine» pretty much means meet at the soda machine. The store isn’t open every day, and when I do see it open, it is for magic classes. I’m assuming the old couple has retired and decided to just relax, but when I do pass by that store or see the old couple, it would put a smile on my face.

It felt like stepping into a local version of Ollivander’s, the magic wand store from the Harry Potter stories. The plain store sign disguises but also cleverly hints of what to expect inside. Warmest welcoming experience from the store proprietor and regulars. Only open on Saturdays from 10AM to 5PM. Far more than just a specialty hobby store… a real«magical» gathering, especially for older keikis interested in the craft from 2 to 4PM.
