In an attempt to get out of the office more, I suggested to 2 other colleagues that we needed to grab lunch one day and catch up. We were all walking around, passing food trucks along the way and stumbled upon Café Ono. One of them persuaded me to try this place out since she liked it. We were on a budget and strict time frame of an hour, so anything that met those requirements I was down for. We arrived at around 11:30, and good thing for us — we beat the lunch hour. There wasn’t much of a line, but as it got closer to noon… well I was just glad that we all had ordered by that time. Café Ono has outside seating, which was perfect. We were able to grab a table once we got our food and talked while we ate our delicious lunches. Café Ono has a lot of typical plate lunches, me and one of my coworkers managed to order the same thing without realizing it — the mini mahi $ 6.95. We also got the plantation iced tea with li hing $ 2.50, which was recommended. I’m glad I got it, because it was the perfect refreshing drink to have — sweet, tangy, and delicious! If you like li hing, definitely ask for it with your plantation iced tea. Once I got my mini mahi, the pieces of fish looked very small and I was afraid it wouldn’t be enough. But, as I was eating it with my scoop of white rice and fresh salad — I could feel myself starting to get full. It wasn’t the stuffed or bloated feeling, but more like I was well-fed feeling. Still had a bit more room to finish all of my plantation iced tea as we walked back to the office. Any lunch that I can get for under $ 10 in downtown, I have it memorized in my head! I’m always looking for more food options where I work. I wouldn’t mind coming back here to try out something else.

Café Ono is a very short walk from restaurant row! While my car was getting detailed I decided to try a new eating spot and Café Ono is where I picked! My 4 year old ordered their chili dog and as soon as she took a bite her words were, «mmmm, cheesy deliciousness!» I took a bite, man was she right! Soooooo Ono indeed! They have a lot of healthy options too!!! The woman at the counter, who’s name rhymes with iguana, Luana, was amazingly nice! They have a ton of customers and now I know why!!! Amazing food! Awesome people! Wonderful atmosphere! We’ll be back! *My little one wanted me to add that she had sooo much fun!

We had our brunch here as its walking distance from the apartment we are staying. The coffee is the best out of all that we ordered. Actually a good coffee in comparison to others. I ordered their special of the day which was the penne alla Putanesca with salad and bread. Bread was average, salad was salty, pasta was below average. Hubby ordered the bacon and cheeseburger plus fries. He enjoyed it I actually regretted not ordering the same thing. Recommending coffee but not their pasta.

High quality food at a comfortable outdoor location. This is owned by two women who cares about food and their customer. I’d say it’s like eating at home but I sure don’t cook this well!

I’m always looking for good fried rice places. This place was one of my favs and was convenient to work. To try to be efficient i called in for pick up on a busy Friday and I was interrogated on how I got the phone number, my full name, where I worked and how long I planned to take to get there… I was shocked into silence and that is not an easy feat. Great food but not worth the 3rd degree before your morning coffee. I’ll take my business to bistro on merchant for a great garlicky fried rice, the best fluffy scrambled egg, for about the same price and less hassle.

Why not give them 5stars? I asked what a «dirty» chai latte is and after the nice lady explained it to me I decided to order one… If you don’t know it’s a chai latte with a shot of expresso or 2 shots of expresso in my case… It was delicious and I’ll surely be back to get another… Sounds like they have daily food specials too and I love that. Thank you kind lady at the register, I’ll be back…

Five fat stars for taco Wednesday! Now this is exactly what I needed to pull me through hump day. Dem tacos were delish and a deal at $ 10.21 for three fatties(including tax). The tortillas were nicely toasted and the fresh salsa pulled it all together. Not to mention, these were stuffed with meat. NOTE: Why settle for 2 when 3 tacos are only a $ 1 more. A dollar!!! The Mexican rice is spicy! Like real spicy! But I LOVE spicy!!! The line ran out onto the walkway by noon, but it moved pretty quickly and I only waited 5 minutes for my food. Lots of aloha at the counter. Enjoy!

I Heard about this place and decided to come down and when I was in the area and I was not disappointed. Great menu selection. Lots of different stuff for everyone. Can’t wait to go back. I think this place should be called Simply Ono

Café Ono is simply amazing! This is the only place where you may think you have been given too much bacon… fried rice is awesome, burgers are fresh and taste homemade! Bacon Avocado Roll is heavenly. Luana and her staff are the nicest people ever and always remember your name. They always have yummy food specials and great specialty coffee. I love Café Ono!!!

Luana is a super nice person. So much so that she always asks me my name. That being said, I get that it’s an effort to add that personal touch, but if I’m there every other day and you can’t remember«Laura» I’d really rather you just stop asking. I personally truly dislike when establishments ask me my name when it’s not even needed to begin with and to be apologized to for not remembering something unimportant every time I want a mini plate is not on my list of must-haves. You’re nice, I like the food, I’ll be back. Can we just keep it simple? It’s embarrassing.

Couple of co-workers were going out for lunch and being the new EE in the office, I just tagged along not asking where we’re going just enjoying the company. As we walked further and further away from the building I wondered where we’d be venturing to. Cross Queen street to Mililani Mall and stumble in front of Café Ono. I mean seriously, it better be that good if I gotta walk this far and their name is ‘ono’ after all! They don’t disappoint. I think they might’ve been a little short staffed that day though as it took us a good hour to get all 8 separate orders taken and served. There was a line before we got there so I think it’s some what understandable. Taco Wednesday, that’s why we were there. Unfortunately for me, I’m on a small diet and went for the salad. I’m sorry, I really shouldn’t say ‘unfortunately’ since that salad was great. I had the Super Caesar Salad(mini) with Chicken and a Plantation Iced Tea(comes with pineapple: P yum). Lady that took my order was so nice and she actually came up with the idea of the super caesar, to add kale. I love mixed green salads but quality is almost always an issue with mixed greens… Sorry for the rambling! They are a great little shop and have great food. Their burgers look delicious, bacon cooked perfectly, tacos looks awesome and their prices honestly, don’t hurt my wallet as much as I thought they might. Very satisfied with the new lunch option. They’ve got a new customer for sure! 2 thumbs up from me!

This café is hands down the best little café downtown. Luana always has a friendly smile for you and will know you by name by your first order. She makes the best White Mocha wayyy better than Starbucks. Yoko is an amazing cook once you’ve tried one of her many lunch specials on the menu you won’t want to go anywhere else for lunch. My fav is Taco Wednesdays. Yoko makes the Best Tacos on the island. You have to go there before noon on wed or you’ll miss it, they have a lot of regulars and the tacos get sold out pretty quickly. Also There plantation ice tea is delicious and will always have a fresh pineapple in it:-) Please check them out you will be thanking me:-)

This is a small take-out-window-style restaurant with some outdoor tables. Tried breakfast this morning: fried rice with bacon and egg. At almost $ 7, it was pricier than some nearby restaurants that have $ 3-$ 4 complete breakfasts. The quantity of food is similar but I have to say that their fried rice is much better than the cheaper options. Is it worth twice the price? Yes for an occasional meal Everyday fare? Would have to go with the cheaper nearby options.

Café Ono is a great place to be at 8 am, sitting at a shady outdoor table, with a fresh ground, made to order, 100% Kona Coffee in your hand. This snack shop makes everything to order, is affordable, and staff are friendly and helpful. Known for their Mexican fare, have the Quesadilla for breakfast and come for lunch on Taco Wednesdays. No parking, but worth the walk. Café Ono a great find, on the outskirts of Downtown.

This place is a hidden gem! Tucked away off the main road, you probably would never know it was there unless you worked in one of the neighboring buildings… The best thing IMHO is their fried rice in the morning for breakfast. They finish it off on their griddle making it crispy fried rice… Soo good. And the prices here are great too.

Taco Wednesday? Yes, please! I actually ordered the Greek Salad with bacon such was well put together, generous, and tasty. However, my husband ordered the tacos and they were fantastic! The shredded red chile pork is so tender and flavorful. The pork is neatly tucked into a warm corn tortilla; the tacos are accompanied by fresh salsa and Mexican rice. Perfection. The only regret we have is that we should have ordered 3 instead of 2 because they are amazing. We had the plantation iced tea which was delicious, especially with the yummy pineapple spear inside. The location of Café Ono is perfect if you work in the area or are doing business nearby. I could tell that Café Ono has quickly built a loyal customer base. Luana is warm and friendly and greeted each repeat customer by name. There’s no shortage of ALOHA at Café Ono.

Café Ono is by far my favorite place to go for Lunch! I work at the Federal Building, and the location is really convenient. The Greek Salad with Tuna and Avocado on top is absolutely fantastic. It is so light and simple, with Kalamata olives and feta cheese on top. With light oil and vinegar dressing that comes on the side so you can put as much as you desire on top. The salad with their tasty and refreshing iced tea is the best combo to have. The Caesar salad id great too! The dressing is homemade with mayonnaise and anchovies. Don’t forget… Wednesday is Taco Wednesday!!! These are truly some of the best shredded pork tacos you can get on the entire island, and i’ve looked all over for good Mexican food on Oahu. Being from Southern California, i’m picky about my Mexican food, and the tacos here are awesome! The staff is extremely friendly and they try their best to remember the names of their customers. I have seen them turn this place around greatly over the past 6 months since the new over took over. Café Ono is really a great place to go for a quick and tasty lunch!

Hands down, my favorite lunch place in downtown Honolulu. Since moving here, I’ve eaten at a few restaurants at this location, but this one is different. I’m always greeted by name and with a smile– a friendliness I see conferred on all customers alike. This is a café with all outdoor seating(some under an overhang), in a beautiful and quiet part of town. The tables are a great place to eat and relax. The prices are reasonable. Condiments(especially hot sauces) are widely available– some even homemade. I always get the homemade iced tea, there are many other drink choices. I hear the iced coffee is delicious as well. The menu is larger and more varied than one would expect. Sandwiches, mostly fish choices, are delicious. French fries are always fresh. Any option with bacon will be rewarded with a heeling mound! There are lots of salad options, the Greek being my favorite. Try their homemade salad dressings. The best part is the specials– there is always something new to try, many are Hawaiian and local items. If you stop by, say hi to Luana, you won’t regret it!
