Gross. Was desperate. Ate some and threw away rest. Didn’t know about other little food court by Gate 15 — seriously. The lady server was super nice, though.

Food is okay, but the food server is so stingy. They make sure you have the least amount of food to cover your plate. There is another one in Hawaii airline lounge — very generous one there.

There is a Chinese food stand(Chowmein Express) that offered me a very small portion with high price, the quality of food was not good either. I would never come back to this place.

This is Chinese fast food so expectations towards the quality should be rather low. And the place stands up to it. Not many choices around at the airport, so this one was actually my choice for dinner, as I preferred it rather than fried chicken place next to it. I have tried beef broccoli and orange chicken. Both of which were good, but nothing exceptional and kinda of the average Chinese fast food quality level. I guess the next time I am departing from HNL I will try something else, like the pizza joint hidden on the right hand side after TSA.

I’d recommend eating your food in the little patio overlooking the Japanese garden. It beats the overcrowded food court area(which made me feel a bit nauseous because of the numerous smells). The food here reminds me of Panda Express but tastes more like home cooking. While it’s not the best of the best, the food here is decent and will get you going :) I really liked their options and(if I’m around here again) would most likely eat here again.

Chinese fast food never special, put one in an airport terminal, … a recipe for disaster. Mediocre food, barely edible, under staffed with one employee who is overwhelmed, and unfriendly. She had to point at the cash register to indicate amount due, her English was that bad.

Got lunch before flight and I ordered effects with broccoli and chicken with peanuts and fried rice. This was and is the worst chinese food I have ever had. The beef was disgusting chewing a shriveled piece of beef. Cashier not the friendliest. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.

Dear Owner of Chow Me in Expressway Honolulu Airport: It appears that your food prices have risen. I paid $ 9.40 for a piece of french toast and a vegetable omelette. While standing line line I saw your cashier give away 9 mounds of rice FORFREE to to her airport employee friends who all had what appears to be their left over dinner in a container on their food tray. Because the transaction was casual, I suspect that it is habitual. I wonder if the same transaction happens during lunch? A fellow ordered a scoop of rice for $ 2.50. His scoop of rice wasn’t as robust as the free scoops of rice given by your employee to her friends. By my calculation, this morning your employee gave away approximately $ 22 of rice thus far. Of course this short fall will be passed onto your REAL paying customers. In appreciation to all your paying customers, I would like to post a sign up at your establishment thanking them for buying your employees(I saw an employee bring out two plates of food from the back door to a group of her friends) and friends breakfast and lunch.

Totally not friendly. They only had a few pcs of orange chicken, so I said I wld wait for the new ones. They were NOTHAPPY about that. The 2 older ladies working there rolled their eyes and ignored me. When the new orange chicken came out, they ignored me and continued to serve all the customers behind me!!! I had to chase down the 2 ladies bween the customers they were helping to tell them I was just waiting for the orange chicken side cuz my combo plate was already Made and waiting. Terrible service!

Ate there on 7÷29÷15 at 6:30pm. Had 2 item chicken stir fry with white rice. Started getting sick around 9−10pm. Sick all night and it’s 5:00pm 7÷30÷15 and I’m still sick. Missed work today and may miss work tomorrow. Been laying in bed or sitting on the toilet all day. Avoid at all costs! Should have just eaten nasty BK(Lahaina was closed). Actually, I’m just going to eat before getting to the airport. I recommend doing the same. Thanks for the food poisoning! Place needs to be shut down!

A downgrade from Panda Express. Service was very rude. The chow mein was tasteless and kind of soggy. The orange chicken was pretty good, probably wouldn’t return. It was fast though, which was good.

There aren’t a lot of options for food at HNL — the only places open were Chow Mein Express or Burger King. Cons * Fried rice was dry * Chow mein was soggy and salty * Price(although it’s comparable to Panda’s on Maui) * Taste was just.meh. Pros * Portion size * Durable take out containers If it wasn’t one of two very limited options, I probably wouldn’t have eaten here and I wouldn’t recommend friends to eat here in the future either.

This place is like Panda Express, but the portions are smaller. Two item combo plate was $ 9.79. The char siu was decent. The mabo tofu much less so. The fried rice was dry. The chow mein was ok. A one item plate costs $ 8 so you might as well buy the two item plate for a buck more.

Located in the Hawaiian Airlines terminal food court next to Burger King, I was very shocked to find that Chow Mein Express served breakfast! Here we are Saturday morning trying to grab breakfast before our flight boards in ten minutes. The line at starbucks was proportionately sized to match the Starbucks in Disneyland. Burger King had another long line as everyone tried to grab the last of the breakfast service. As I waited in line at the BK lounge trying to figure out what sandwich would have me gain the least amount of weight, I glanced over at Chow Mein Express to notice a sign for eggggggggggs??? whaaaaaa? I wandered over to find a buffet of breakfast foods replacing a buffet of chinese food. Who knew?! For almost the same price as a BK breakfast combo, I received rice, eggs and meat. Granted, this is equally not good for you, but I felt like I could limit myself more with the portions than one small processed sandwich product. The food, was NOT that great, but you are in an airport, and the pickings are slim. Even starbucks doesn’t have their breakfast lineup available. If I had to choose between the two, I would rather eat my breakfast with a fork than in between my two hands.

Look, it’s airport food. What can you really expect? My review is really about the breakfast though. Surprisingly when you’re at the airport in the morning, you WILLONLYFINDBREAKFAST food. From the chicken place to CPK to this Chow Mein Express. For the most part, it’s pretty much the same with eggs, spam/sausage, fried rice, etc. I’m not a huge fan of this type of breakfast so I was happy to have found shrimp tempura ramen or udon at this station in addition to the eggs, french toast, etc. The tempura was actually pretty good. The ramen noodles were standard but if you eat at lot of ramen, then you’d know this was awful. The soup was a straight-forward base from a bottle, mixed with water. I will say it gave me the warmth that I wanted that morning but I did not enjoy this much and will say it may be better to just skip breakfast at the airport altogether if you can.

Came here to eat some overpriced airport food. $ 8.29 for a 2 item combo? Sigh. The food was definitely on the sad side. The fried rice was bland, but the orange chicken was decent. The spicy chicken was also fine. Just like a food court, but more expensive. The one redeeming factor of this location is that the view from the food court is really nice. Very nice landscaping job by the airport authorities.

The things people do in desperation … like eating at Chow Mein Express at the Honolulu International Airport because the actual restaurants were still closed and I don’t eat fast food. So, I had a morning return flight to Los Angeles and to avoid the morning rush hour commute, I made sure to get to the airport early. The downside to it was that I didn’t grab breakfast however, I figured I should be able to find something at HNL. I was right that I found something, but I say something, because though it was edible, I don’t know if I’d go so far as to call it food. As I’m stalking the terminals, looking for a restaurant so I can put something into my stomach before takeoff, all the real restaurants are closed. The only eateries open are in the food court. And the pickings were slim there too. So much so, that I just opted for Chinese fast food. After all, I was hungry and the last thing I wanted, was to board a five hour flight, not feeling well. Breakfast special. Nothing special about it. First, it’s located in the airport. So, like the movies … you guessed it right, inflated prices. But, it is what it is. So, I took my plate, which included fried rice, scrambled eggs and Portuguese sausage. Keep in mind, earlier, I mentioned the word edible … The rice, old. Definitely not fresh. If you’ve had rice that wasn’t fresh, like within a few hours of the batch being made, you know all too well the signs as you’re munching on the grains. The eggs — I don’t think anyone can make eggs any more tasteless than what they served. The sausage, a little on the sweet side. No amount of chili oil helped so I didn’t even finish my plate. I would have left it for the birds — and I mean that literally because sparrows were flying around in the food court, but I didn’t want to be cruel to the animals. Anyway, I know better for the next time if I find myself with an early flight and an empty stomach at the Honolulu International Airport.

Yes, I ate fake Chinese food in the HNL int’l airport. Why? Because I not so secretly love orange chicken haha. Actually, I was more intrigued by the chow fun here! Ordered the 2 item w/half chow Mein & half chow fun + orange chicken & chicken string bean. The chow mein and chow fun were greasy but so comforting haha reminded me of good olé panda/626 food. The orange chicken was definitely not as crispy aka deep fried as Panda’s but there was more substance. Sometimes at Panda, I feel like I’m either eating just flour coating on fat. But I actually saw the chicken here! However, Panda makes the string bean chicken better. Overall, I think there’s less MSG than Panda AND prices were on par — surprising for airport food. Oh & they serve beer here. Huzzah.
